From Inayity in NWN Bioware Forums Quote: Some interesting news I haven't seen on here yet. A couple of gaming sites have been reporting that Atari has signed a deal with Good Old Games for digital distribution of the Atari catalog.
Good Old Games is a Polish company which specializes in taking critically-acclaimed but older games, removing any DRM, making the games Vista and XP-compatible and then selling them dirt cheap via their digital distribution network.
While the lawsuit between Hasbro and Atari has left a lot of users uncertain about whether or not the Baldur's Gate series and (of course) the Neverwinter Nights series will be coming to the service, there's quite a bit of hope on this end that such legal wranglings won't have an impact on old games like NWN.
One other thing, these guys at GOG were founded by a company called CD-Projekt. If you haven't heard of them, they were responsible for the Polish localization of the NWN series and were also the only company to actually license the Aurora engine, the engine which drives NWN, to create The Witcher. So not only have they heard of NWN, they forked over the big bucks to get their hands on the source code to make their own game with it.
Anyway, pop on over to GOG.com and check it out.
If you make an account on their site you can vote for the "most-wanted" games. Various flavors of NWN are already represented in the voting but it could use a little more lovin' It is also worth noting that users have also requested the discontinued Premium modules as well and those can be voted for too.
Neverwinter Nights via digital distribution is something I'd like to see, wouldn't you? What this means is that if there are enough votes for NWN, it can be one of the top games of GOG that can be re-distributed. If this garners enough success, this CAN revive NWN. I urge you all, NWNers, to come and vote. Go here http://www.gog.com/en/wanted/ and type in Neverwinter Nights. It is sad that it has so little votes, yet it is a critically acclaimed game that is still prospering online! NWN is slowly dying. It has less and less players each year. You know Project CQ and nwshader and all those other graphical overrides? If people see that, they WON'T think of NWN as just another old RPG. It's a CLASSIC. http://www.gog.com/en/wanted/Please note that, account creation is NOT email validated, nor does it have authorization codes. This means you can create an account as many times as you want and VOTE again and again. We only need about 4000 votes! Please. Sincerely, MWPLAYER, a fellow nwn player edit: alright, editted the macro thing if it has offended anyone.

^ Because of that, I highly suggest someone makes a macro or bot to do it. Much easier because of no email or authorization code required.
Sincerely,
MWPLAYER, a fellow nwn player While I appreciate the sentiment, that strikes me as dishonest. While I certainly hope they do select NWN for digital redistribution, I won't be voting personally since I (1) use a Macintosh and (2) already own a copy of the game, and so am not a potential customer.

My personal view is that nwn diamond should have been released as a bargain game in stores for $20 or less, the game would have way more people playing if that were the case and atari probably would have made an increased total profit as well. Pity really.

I don't know where you got yours Wyjyn, but eastcoast US, Diamond ran me $20 too. That was about a a year or so after I bought Platinum for a friend and me for $20 then as well. Hell, When I first started playing NWN like 5 years ago, I got Gold version for $5 out of a Marshall's bargain bin >.> Best $5 I ever spent on a non-edible product.

PFft... Am I the only one that has the vanilla NWN, real SotU and real HotU boxes? Originally bought, all of them on the day they came out... well. Except HotU, that was a gift from an old friend.

I have vanilla NWN, but I didn't think it was particularly good. I only bought HotU and SoU to play Amia after hearing such great things about it from Genar_Detkasa and Drakos_Vek, who are my nearest & dearest friends in real life.

What?!? They come without boxes??? Dammit! I'm so behind the times.... I guess that explains why I get the dot, dot, dot response when I tell people to check the manual that came with the game.

I haz the originals, as well. And voting. Edit: Voting is stupid. Why does it separate the NWN expansions like that, when there's virtually no server or individual who use just some of them instead of all of them? Should just be one vote: NWN1. Hopefully they collect the total votes that are now spread over 5-6 options... then you easily get a couple of thousand at the least. Edit 2: And why does it want me to make a bloody account?! Sorry, that blocks me from voting... not gonna make stupid account I will never use again.

Make ISO files out of them and use an ISO mounter. You'll be impressed with the installation speed.

I see a single copy of Diamond edition once in a while. But yeah, a download would be kewl. What's there to lose for the publisher, anyway? I'm actually surprised more publishers don't put up all their games for digital downloads and roll a bit of extra cash from the sales, instead of forcing people to download illegal copies. Steam is already there and has old games, so it's not a matter of having good and popular platform available (which is the music industry's common excuse for failing).

I find a little bit of this silly because somehow when I was shown NWN, I was able to turn around and buy Diamond Edition right off the shelf; fresh, clean, new! At BestBuy. Like it was still a craze to be found. Heck it was even sitting next to WoW.
Of course, thats not the same for everyone and probably not the same anymore. *Votes*

NWN is present on in diamond or platnium edition on the PC wall of EB Games for under $20.
Sounds like a load of BS honestly.
