Post subject:  Turning PC Outsiders

I know this has been mentioned before but no idea where to look for this ruling.....How does turning PC Outsiders work, I know that way its supposed to work with NPC outsiders is that if your lvls of cleric paaldin or blackgaurd plus your CHA mod exceeds object you're trying to turn by twice its hit dice, its automatically destroyed but if you lvls and and CHA mod simply beat it's hit dice you turn it automatically and it acts like its suffering from fear, no will saves. So how does it work against PC's? do you give them a will save or what's the deal?

I believe the ruling for Amia is that you just can't do it. We outsider PC's are just that awesome.

I had an air genasi get turned by a 30 cleric when it was about level 8. No chance clearly; in PvP mode, and over a 1.5years ago.

So if anything has changed, I don't know.

But in a PvP battle (training it was) a turn Outsider from the cleric only forced my PC into a Fear effect. As per the game mechanics.

Turning them on, haha! will only make them run away in fear.

No insta death or anything if I recall it correctly.

I can't recall what it was.. But there is a particular Cleric-ish mob in Forstakkr(sp? sorry, it's late) that used to peace out my Tiefling Barbarian in one shot.. I -think- the Fire Giant king used to do it also. Can't remember what it was they cast.

Banishment. And PC outsiders can be turned, if enough Cha and Wis is invested.

Yes they can; Asham Dragoran turned a tiefling in front of my tiefling PC and she's still scared of him.

PC outsiders get turned, Banished, and Word of Faithed. Deal with it. *sunglasses*

High level monks are not Outsiders.

Not in the same sense but because of the enlightenment they achieve, they gain the Outsider template.

Not in Amia they don't.

Can you please quote me lore or a DM decision citing this? (Or if a DM could correct too that'd be as good)

The last time this came up was here:
http://www.amiaworld.net/phpBB2/viewtop ... sc&start=0

Iron and I ended up taking it to tells to stop detracting from the topic.

In the end we came up with the following conclusion (from my point of view):

Yurell wrote:
Since the spells shouldn't effect monks, it's probably best that they not be placed as Outsiders was the conclusion Iron and I came to I believe.

Whether they should lore-wise I don't think we ever agreed upon.

Edit: You posted while I was :P
I can give you solid proof ... go in game, press 'c'. You will see no 'Outsider' there.

Otherwise, I'd have to go back looking through Tormak's posts

Fair enough then.

In that thread are several more examples of Tormak saying that they aren't Outsiders (the link is in the quote if you want to follow it).

Well even if i may disagree....here's one PnP Rule that supports Tormak's ruling...."The Rules of DnD are not meant to be set in stone for DM's they are simply merely guide lines, and as DM have right to break or bend the pre-existing rules" Which is basically a paraphrase right out of the PnP Dungeon Master Guide.

However that answers my questions...as to turning and much thanks.
