Is that even possible?
I see lots of them in FoD spawns.

It's technically possible but extremely unlikely, if ever, going to happen...seeing so many of them in the FoD is quite strange...

On a note unrelated to the FoD spawns: several/some Shadow Elf tribes actually worship Malar. But they've lost their sense of history and consider themselves seperate from the weak "People" who fell into corruption. And I'm sure Malar's quite happy with giving Corellon the finger and ushering his stray children against the elves.
But even when it comes to other elves, I suppose it's generally the clergy and elves that have a problem with such an affiliation. Not Malar himself. And it's pretty unfortunate that Malar's dogma makes no mention of his special elf hate, because you can hardly expect the new and casual role-player to look up Malar's full deity profile from some expensive and obscure book. You tend to look at the dogma and that's it.

It's possible. Some elves become evil and some evles become lycanthropes. That doesn't make you clergy.

not to mention that lycanthropy affliction forces you to certain alignment, which states the lycanthropy. ie werewolf affliction makes you go chaotic evil when turning, while werebear makes you turn into lawful good(don't ask me...) at least in PnP.
remember not to confuse lycanthropy affliction with lycanthrope races.

Elves are very versatile. There are elves on nearly strips of land in Aber-Toril and they come in many shapes, sizes and what not. Yes its extremely unlikely for organized elven society or indeed nations would ever even accept their existance but thats not the same as saying it doesn't happen.
The gods are generally unconcerned with who is bringing them prayers and offerings most of the time. The more followers the more power and who knows what the great gods might be planning high in the skies.
Though honestly I wasn't aware amia had these, though for obvious reasons Amia has to be filled with monsters who can be murdered brutally for spoils, fame and the juicy xp. That is always something to have in mind when appraising numbers.

Just the same, Maias, I have to say, I really think someone that makes a creature /specifically/ to eat elves because he hates them would smite the /crap/ out of elves trying to worship him.
Or laugh hysterically and deny them powers, just to see what happens.

Optional rule that isn't enforced here. The MM even says that the alignment is based purely on the perception of the animals. There's no reason a werebear should be LG or a werewolf chaotic evil just because of what their fursona is.

Bobo, I think a little part of me died when you used the word "Fursona" in reference to my beloved NWN.

Elves are sentient with free will, and no overwhelming natural tendency to any one alignment / deity, and so elves of Malar are quite possible.
As fro the werewolves, why don't we enforce the monster alignments? It's an overwhelming natural tendency, or is it one of those 'good red dragon' and 'evil gold dragon' live-and-let-live rules?

Oh, so they're natural lycanthropes then? As in, born like that?
Mea culpa I guess, I was just referring to lycanthropyas an affliction (i.e. you weren't a lycanthrope at the beginning, are now), because for that according to the MM every time you change you need to make a DC 15 + No. Times changed or be permanently stuck in the alignment of your animal form.

It's not really a question on the elf side so much as on Malar's side, and not a matter of alignment so much as history, though. Malar is the sworn enemy of the Seldarine and he has hunted and hated elves for countless generations. Elves are to Malar what goblins are to many gnome gods.
That's a much bigger problem than just alignment. But I stand by my above post: while it tends to make no sense, it's rather unfair to expect players to know this much about Malar when it's not part of his dogma and the information is not readily available outside of obscure and expensive, out-of-print books. Or the internet if you know where to look, I guess, but that shouldn't be a requirement either.

Animal alignments are arbitrarily assigned because of how the animals are perceived. Thus why I don't feel that little clause holds any merit. You've also got deities involved that specifically target lycanthropes.

I thought it was based on how they behave - Werebears go out of their way to kill evil thins (sounds good to me), while werewolves rampantly slaughter what they can (sounds evil to me).

Okay I concede that point, so on Amia what alignments are the individual type of lycanthropes?

Judging from the players, the alignment is based off the base PC, after it has been affliction is controlled, more or less, with maybe some side-effects.
Wereboars are true-neutral, but there are a few evil wereboar PCs, for example.

So on Amia it's just houseruled that wereanimals don't have inherent alignments?

I don't think it's ever been specified. There are several DM-approved precedents that agree with that, though. So, I'll say no.
Might be FR-specific as well, I'm not sure. I seem to remember a Cleric of Selune in some book who was a werebear. Might be an exception, though.

Lycanthropy is purposefully left vague and as far as I'm concerned, any animal can be any alignment. All normal natural animals re TN, after all. Basically "Unaligned" but 3e doesn't have that alignment.

Indeed. Natural animals are natural TN. It's only magical animals that are good or evil sometimes (e.g. Worgs, Blink dog, Manticore etc.).
A natural Lycan is more likely to be able to steer away from their natural tendencies that come for their lycanthropy. Yet still, that doesn't make it impossible for the afflicted Lycan to control it's urges. I really doubt, for example, that the diseases alignment pull is nearly as strong as the pull from Draconic, Celestial and Fiend blood. There a plenty of Werewolves who turn to Selune instead of Malar. Not many, but plenty enough.

but umm... isn't my point like "HAVE TO BE" rule, in order to have the afflicted person go uncontrolled and totally haywire when transforming? in PnP.
I mean affliction is something you want to get rid of, and that is totally the point when one or several players get bitten by a were(animal). It is a long term "disease" which makes one of your comrades into a hidden enemy. In PnP.
also want to note AGAIN that afflicted wereanimal is different from natural wereanimal.
of course I agree if you meant that in the server. it seems there is no lycanthropy affliction at all in here...

I was talking about the server, though PnP is hardly set in stone either. Thus the beauty of it.

It's not unheard of that people sell their own people to gain something of it. There were Jews working with the Nazis in the WW2. I'd imagine that is what an elven malarite does, too.
