My character, low level at the moment at 6 has renounced his former god Lathander due to feeling betrayed by his god and being abandoned by his wife for no good reason. I'm not good at starting out as a fully evil character but I thought if someone persuaded my character to join their religion and slowly manipulated him not only would it make great RP but it'd considerably easier. So I was wonderng what factions may be interested in this. The character is a human male, fighter/rogue/wm eventually, mainly rogue but very good in combat. Former champion of Lathander. His name is Phaleack |

I think the best suggestion for this would be: Do it in-game & in-character. You'll find out more about your character and have a fun time doing it. Having an OOC direction you wish to push your character in is fine but when you find yourself in a position such as this, I've often found it more fun to see what my character would do as opposed to what I would -have- them do. If that makes any sense. As far as evil factions, there's plenty of em. |

In fairness to the OP, evil factions can be extremely difficult to find IG. Making OOC arrangements to facilitate RP is rarely a bad thing. If you'd be interested in becoming a Banite, PM myself, polan or Mr Mago and we can try to set something up. |

762 wrote: In fairness to the OP, evil factions can be extremely difficult to find IG. Making OOC arrangements to facilitate RP is rarely a bad thing. Point taken. However, most of the bigger "evil" factions are pretty famous in Amia and if you RP enough with other PCs, you'll quickly learn about them and usually at least one point of contact of whom to get in touch with.
If you'd be interested in becoming a Banite, PM myself, polan or Mr Mago and we can try to set something up. My character learned of the Banites very quickly and originated as a monk of Mask. Even though I posted in the OOC Banite recruitment thread, his initiation and recruitment into the Banites was very IC and not very premeditated. I found it to be quite fun and a very interesting experience to find out things about my character as I went along. I wouldn't suggest a player robbing themselves of that possible enjoyment. |

I have no intention of shortcutting the IC recruitment process for anyone. It's a very important part of the PC's initial faction RP. Getting the ball rolling on it though is another story. Ultimately, how the player wants to go forward with it is their choice. But IMHO finding a good OOC fit for a faction is as good as finding a good IC fit. Hence the factions page on the AmiaWiki, and other sources of OOC info like PM's. |

Some followers of evil deities are easier to find than others. |

I'd suggest getting a DM on board. No doubt one of them will have some fun tormenting a Fallen cleric. |

Become a Paladin. You'll be more evil then the rest of the posers. However, on a slightly less serious note, look around in game. You join a faction because you want to, not because someone else makes you. A faction you're not dedicated to is not worth being in, you just make yourself a liability and an open gate for metagaming. Do your research first, then you decide. |

Infact, apperently some faction leaders won't let people join based on the player and not the character. A rumor, but one I'm not liking the sound of, so sometimes if you want to join a faction or not has nothing to do with it. Sometimes it comes down to...other reasons. |

It's not a rumor. Factions being PC run, have always been allowed to choose who they want. If a player is known to be a metagamer, a bad sport, PvP happy, or whatever, the faction leader and the faction itself has a right to deny entry to that player based on OOC standing, and to remove them based on the same thing if needed. Don't make it out like some dirty thing. It's a necessary measure. If the faction has an issue with it then it's their job to confront their leader and go "Dude, you suck, get out." |

Don't make it out like some dirty thing. It's a necessary measure. If the faction has an issue with it then it's their job to confront their leader and go "Dude, you suck, get out." Agreed. When someone tries to join a faction, the faction leader should also take into consideration the character of the player himself. As a completly ambigious example. In one of the factions I used to be in, (not saying which) we did not pursue any interest in recruiting a player becuase he/she had a certain... offputting character that would of done more damage to the facion than any good. Secondly, towards the OP, if all else fails you don't always need a faction, being a freelancing evil can be extremely fun. You make your own decisons and make allies out of 'convenience' to your own goals rather than a larger group's. Just a thought. |

Don't make it out like some dirty thing. It's a necessary measure. If the faction has an issue with it then it's their job to confront their leader and go "Dude, you suck, get out." My gip with it is when it's done on a faction leaders personal dislike of a player, and not on any rep heard. If rep is the reason, and they are asked why, I feel you should be upfront why 100%. Someone can't learn from the reprecausions of actions unless it's known, or change their rep. Assuming someone knows is generally not a good idea, as just because it's assumed, doesn't mean it is. In my case, if I had to do this for the WK's, I'd keep it 100% IC, even if the choice was OOC based. I'd try and provide a good excuse IC before even considering resorting to OOC. I do consider it dirty, because it is, having to block someones RP because of an OOC reason sucks. Even if the person brought it on themselves. It's one of those things though that has to be done as a faction leader, dirty though it may be considered, and I do consider it such. |

I've seen the recruitment process for alot of Amia's factions, so I am going to assume this rumour is based around the sharran Process. Since it seems to match what Im reading more than other factions. So i'll give a brief step by step walk through for everyone to clear things up. A player shows interest in joining the faction, they will Pm myself or the sharran cell account. This is then posted into our recruitment post. The application is then looked at from two different view points. OOC and IC. OOCly, every member of the faction will have a say if they choose. The pro's and cons are measured up. We do not seek a player who has a reputation for metagame, who is a +1faction player, a destructive behaviour ie is known to fly off in a fit of rage. Is prone to rule breaking. By keeping players who show the above out of the faction, the faction can maintain a good healthy reputation and remain an enjoyable experiance for all those within it. Which should be the top concern for all faction leaders. The second part is the IC bit, most applicants will be asked to send a brief bit of knowledge about what the faction will easily come to know about the character. We will then begin testing this character on an IC level, seeing how well they can handle playing a secretive character. Some tests have been known to take months. And it often pains me to see players who on an OOC level would likely be a great asset, but on an IC level draw too much suspicion. This can range from openly declaring oneself as a sharran, to not checking for sd's enough. Unfortunately this process is required to be in place on amia, the playerbase is not mature or responsible enough to handle OOC knowledge. And if we do not screen both IC and OOC we risk loseing our enjoyment within our faction. |

Some factions need stricter recruiting procedures than others. However... the Banites have never, nor will they ever, deny someone to join them based on anything OOC. The players within the faction are, however, expected to abide by the rules, conduct themselves in a friendly and courteous manners towards other players, and seek to make the game more joyful for everyone, and not just themselves. |

And if we do not screen both IC and OOC we risk loseing our enjoyment within our faction. Actually it's not based around the Sharran process. I get why secert organisations need to be biased OOCly, thats quite obvious. No the one I heard was based around a faction that has always been very open, everyone knows about it, and generally has aboslutely no reason for being biased apart from simple OOC dislike. Without stating names, I found it really lame. Really lame. Though honestly not to surprising given the people involved in it, who have always had a history of getting their way. As thats very much the same policy I have with the War Knights. |

So Selvec, you actually gonna tell a DM your problem or are you just going to toss vague threats at people on the forum? |

No DM has expressed interest in it except you, nor should I imagine they would want to. They aren't vague threats either, because I honestly have no intention of stating names or letting on anymore then is actually there at this point. It was just that, a rumor. Threats generally have to come from someone who was involved, as it is a rumor, and I wasn't involved, I can't make threats. Espically considering nothing could come of it even if I was to. I actually haven't made threats from what I've typed so far at anyone, as what good would threats do when I have literally no part of what I heard, I just don't like what I've heard. Nor can I even make proper complaints on how alledgly the matter was dealt with, as again, I wasn't apart of the apparant event, and it really is just a rumor. My opinions on the rumor are stated here, and thats about it. If you want to know of the rumor tormak I can tell you on MSN sometime, or PM you. Again, I don't know if it's true or not, only what I was told of it, a rumor at this stage. I'm not threatening people in the slightest. It seem's like you've taken what I said wrong. What I've done is state what I heard in the best way I possibly can without breaching Amia's forum rules, which I don't want to do. I'm sorry if it's come across as threatening, but I tried to state it within' the boundries that have been allowed. |

I'll have a chat to you about it in MSN some time then. Explain what I have heard. Some of it is very much likely wrong, as with most rumors it's based on a one sided opinion I imagine. So yea. Till then, I won't say anymore on the matter. |
