The Amian Recorder is still available as a resource for PCs who fancy themselves as journalists to get a story told. You'll note that the style is a little yellower under new management. Those of you who know anything about journalism will understand more or less what your exepctations are. Interview other PCs, get their side of the story. See their words (in whole or especially in part!) published as seen fit. Have fun with it. Use it as a tool if you want. Don't look to me to give you a story idea, produce one of your own, research it, write it, submit it, talk to (or spy on!) the PCs or NPCs and get the REAL story. Then revel in the glory of having been published. Just so long as it passes muster by William "Bill" Hurst. |

Neat! This sounds like really fun roleplay! Would it be possible to make the Recorder more accessible, maybe by having the town crier sell them for a couple gold? |

I'm pretty sure they were sold as in-game items in 2005-2006, but the inventory size limit may affect that now. |

Was thinking about this, though I'm so swamped with other commitments I hardly have time to play. |

"Hot Gossip New Sex Tape of Torin Starfall and Judvaras. Elistreean spokeperson claims tape is fake, but inside reports tell of a hot steamy encounter in Shaundukal Temple. Full story on page six". *Snicker* |

Get your gossip right. Everyone knows the Shadowbard partakes of a little white meat at midnight. |

But it is so much fun to misconstrue the facts. >_>;; |

This used to be the case, but when it was determined that the description of an item contributed dramatically to the file size of a PC and therefore to the overall lag of the server, that process was ended. For now we do the best with what we've got. |

I wholly endorse this system. I wish there was such a movement back when Kyllikki was a freelance reporter. I say good on ya! |

You can still freelance for the extra pay, possible perks and accreditation. The idea is to give you something to do with your PC, a reason to talk to or interview other PCs. A reason to spy on other PCs. A reason to make up shit about other PCs and sell it convincingly as fact. It is a medium for you to tell the story you want to tell in the way you want to tell it. Or to advertise yourself or your faction or an idea in a clever way. There is of course one kind of story that won't see the light of day in the Amian Recorder, and I think it should be obvious what won't get printed, but a lot of other stuff is free game. Serious or otherwise. You want to write a Personality Profile of a noteable individual that has public interest, like Darthion Illys of the Church of Bane (excuse me, sir, but for the record, just what -is- your fascination with cupcakes all about?) You want to tell the story of how the Temple of Love came to be? You want to inform the general public about Bendir Dale's decisions to change policy or to elect a new mayor, and on what platformers? You can! You want to write a story about the REAL origins of why Bane's hand is black? To publish an expose on the Knights of Kohlingen and the secret anti-establishment societies they maintain? To write a story about a girl that was trapped in a well and was saved by YOUR gnome's invention, the patented Lend-A-Hand, and let everyone know that the girl and her family are forever indebted to the creator of the device (you) and that it can be purchased at your storefront for the sensible sum of 500 gold? You just have whatever fun you want with it and PM it to me and I'll get it in print. |

The touts and criers could always cry out snappy headlines, something that would drag eyes to the forums where the full story is, just like newsboys use to. |

This may be a silly question but would non-citizens be able to make submissions to the Recorder? (presuming they didn't have any content that Citizen Hurst would object to) |

I'm pretty sure they were sold as in-game items in 2005-2006, but the inventory size limit may affect that now. If I remember correctly, they were handed out for free or 1 gp by the paper girl and boy in old cordor. Then, they stopped handing them out but back issues were sold at Hill's bookstore in "New" Cordor late '06 til about early '08 (give or take half a year). Inventory size limitations and the sheer massive amounts of lag huge descriptions (especially when nearly every PC has one) put on the server, it's probably best to have something IC forum based. I'm glad this is in effect. I'm pretty sure this has been bursting to happen for a long time. It makes me wish I had a character that would partake. I guess Issalia might do a historical essay every now and then, though it's hardly current affairs or anything. |

Old backcopies can be kept in a shop, just make them unbuyable so they can only be examined at through the shop, or put them on PLC's. |

Lomir has dibs on investigating the haunted theatre and writing a witty article all about it. He'll even wear a fedora and speak in noir slang while doing it. |

Have Mike the Paper boy announce that, Yossi. Some people that do not check the forums will see this in-game and might be interested. |
