I'm new to scripting in the NWN Aurora toolset and I was wondering how to go about making statues out of NPCs like the ones I see in Cordor and the temple of Waukeen in Amia for a weekly story module a friend has been running for six months now. I'm guessing that I would need to make an OnEnter event for the specific area that the statues are in and then set the NPCs to be petrified but I can't seem to get the scripting right.
I hate the statues in the placables menu and I don't really want to dignify the Seldarine (the elven gods) with the faceless granite statue with gold shield placable.

You make a script in their OnSpawn event (NPC properties/scripts).
Add this:
ApplyEffectToObject( DURATION_TYPE_PERMANENT, SupernaturalEffect( EffectPetrify() ),
OBJECT_SELF );
Strip the scripts from the other events, set the NPC to immovable, and make it plot and immortal.

Thanks, I'll try that out. I was kind of scratching my head at how to implement it based on the links from the lexicon...

Thanks. Was looking to do the same thing myself.
Then, of course, you get the nice stone effect. Can you permanently paralyze it without petrifying so that the normal colours show?
And why isnt there a thread for scripting questions so that Disco and Terra have even more to do?

Oh, yeah, sitescripting.
Code: ApplyEffectToObject( 2, SupernaturalEffect( EffectCutsceneParalyze( ) ), OBJECT_SELF ); ApplyEffectToObject( 2, SupernaturalEffect( EffectVisualEffect( VFX_DUR_FREEZE_ANIMATION ) ), OBJECT_SELF );
Petrifies but without any extra textures.

Also, how to do a sit-able chair since I get asked frequently:
1: Rightclick on your chair and select "properties"
2: In the basic tab. click in "plot" (optional: if you want your chair to be un-destroyable) and click in the "usable" checkbox, otherwise it won't work.
3: Go to the script tab and fill in "x2_plc_used_sit"(This script is bioware default thus all nwn installations has it) in the OnUsed field.

That monster I froze - I got that part working. But I want it to be a statue on top of a pedestal and it insists on spawning at ground level even though it has a positive z-coordinate. Can I force it to spawn in mid-air (atop the placeable) or does there need to be a tile surface there?

Neverwinter Nights sittable chairs are easy to do...try it on NWN2 *snicker*.
Walkmesh issues galore, then you sometimes have to cut your own area's with your own mesh thing to let them sit. Then you have to make them sit. Then you have to enter variable to make sure they face the right way. Then after all this (and it is a lot), you'll probably only get it working for humans sized models and smaller models will glitch up, sinking into the chair or what not.
So you have to make "hin chairs" or something. Go back through the steps. Finally done, realise that there is another few hundred chair models in the game that need these steps done for them. Thats when you give up and go do something else xD.

Personally, I use Lilac Soul's Script Generator. It can generally walk you through most things easily enough, and is wonderful for us lazy module makers.

Just in case: if you do things like this in areas you intend to add to Amia: don't. We got those scripts already available and I hate doubles.

I use it sometimes, but not because I'm lazy. I've learned a lot about scripting for NWN through using it but I was stumped on how to get those statues right even when using it.
