I am able to get my character to equip a helmet and a cloak without visibly seeing them. No, not a HAK.

I will explain the way that i do this, but i would like to know if everyone knows this already or if it's just me?

Alright, so first step is to unequip your helmet, cloak, and armor. Make sure that they are slotted next to each other in your quick-select boxes (the F1-12 boxes). Then quickly select them, one right after another, the helmet, cloak, and then armor. This must be quick enough so that it wants to put them all on at the same time. The game mechanics are fast enough, you -will- equip them. Visibly though, you won't.

Short Version:
1. Unequip helm, cloak, armor
2. Make sure they are quickslotted to selection bar
3. Rapidly click the "Equip Helm" button, the "Equip Cloak Button", and the "Equip Armor" Button right after each other, as quickly as possible.
4. Admire your work.

This picture shows that NWN says that they are equipped, but i don't see them on my character.

I know of this, people usually do it to equip items that require more levels to wear them, or so was the case when I played on another server, What you are showing us, is it allowed at all? And if so, do others see you how you see your character, or do they see the helmet and cloak, and only you dont?

This works for you, but it doesn't always work for everyone else. A lot of the time, other people see your cloak/helm, even if you don't. Just FYI.

Smells exploitable, but cool if it's not. Still, I imagine it's only client-side. Does it remain like that even when you switch areas?

Soon as someone transitions they will see the helmet. Even if it stay off for you. What it is is lagging the equip scripts till they double load the head so it has the helmet on while it just loaded the head back on. Changing the armor or cloak will stop the load helmet script and and start the load armor.

But depending on the persons computer those times can be different.

I think it works for both you and the others, though to others it depends on lag.

If a faerie widget is any indication of that, that is.

I have (well, had) a PC who had a faerie widget and most of the times that she would shift or unshift into a faerie and back to an elf, other players would see her nude when I was seeing her wearing her full gear. The opposite would happen sometimes, too.

It's a visual bug that only affects you. Not to mention that ICly you are still wearing that cloak and helmet and a DM has every right to treat it as such.
