Perhaps this belongs in the Off Topic area but I'm curious (as I'm currently drunk and I am quite often while playing alot've games [never do progression raids in any MMO while drunk]) if people tend to play NWN while they're drunk, and if it impacts how you play your character dramatically or not at all. Feel free to give some detail.
I know whilst playing my Tiefling, I'd contently come on to women while drunk and have little care for public view on it. As for my Warpriest Malicar, he's a wee bit more *cough* fun.. With his whip. But certainly doesn't attempt to pick people up.
So how do you play when you're drunk?

I don't drink a lot, but.. the last time that I was high while I played NWN, I was out hunting and ended up roleplaying with an action gamer type guy, and it was a lot of fun.
Usually, I'm more ready to judge people and pass over those that make a bad first impression. When stoned on the other hand, I'm more involved and more easily excited.
Don't play Amia while drunk. It results in temporary bans when the DMs figure out you're a raving drunk ATM and not fully in control of your own faculties. Then you have to embarassedly explain to people the next morning just why you were a jerk.

My fingers and hands get numb and lose motor coordination and, since 9 times out of 10 I'm typing in the dark, if I'm drunk you'll know it because the only thing I stop caring about is editing anything before I hit what I'm reasonably sure is the enter key.
I drink only about twice a year, so me being drunk while playing Amia isn't a common sight.. but last time I did that I tried to hunt swamp hags with a level 7 sorcerer kobold.. without buffs.. without a summon.. and soon without a life.
After that, I decided not to drink while/before playing in Amia.

It's no secret that I've come home drunk from a night of partying only to jump on Amia and play . I'm not sure if it has negatively affected my playing or not, to be quite honest, but I'm pretty sure it would make playing my character Black Jack a lot more authentic, since he's always drunk. When I play Willow drunk, she's usually just in her more cheery moods, which isn't something uncommon. Willow knows how to have fun sometimes! I recon I wouldn't play (and haven't) Tu'jol or Zet drunk though. I would be too uppity to portray them correctly.
That said, I've never done anything inappropriate or broken any rules while playing drunk! Yay me! Ask those who have witnessed! (You better say something nice if you say something or I swear to god I'll PK you! ::roar!:: )
I don't play when I am drunk, but I tend to log into the DM client in the early morning hours when I get home after a boozing rampage. It's not very productive, though. I spam the DM channel with BS, jump around trying to decipher the RP and toss out DCs if successful and give even sillier answers to people than I'd normally do before I crash into the bed. I wouldn't dream of trying to run events or anything when drunk... gods, that would be a mess.
I've played a few times after I came home from a party. I don't remember it affecting my RP a whole lot, apart from slightly increased typos. I do recall a DM interview one time, when I was positively intoxicated. I think. But usually (the three or so times that I've played drunk) it just manifests in me thinking faster, with more immediate responses and perhaps a more social attitude. I'm never a jerk when I'm drunk, quite the contrary. I become quite nice and polite. I've found that I do better in quizzes or quoting books/poems/songs/etc. when I'm drunk, too. I seem to think faster, but probably articulate my thoughts poorer. (The latter probably being the cause of the former.)

He may be right about that. He doesn't get drunk but he gets thrice as annoying when he drinks, and the annoyance factor just grows the more he drinks.

Truthful answer, yes it does effect the way I play - a lot. So I rarely log in when I've been drinking. Little tiny text is just too much for me.

First, and so far the last, time I played drunk.. I had difficulties following what Winyan elf players were saying. They could have said they were necromancer or about to destroy Winya and I wouldn't had noticed.. The text was too fast!
However, I do get relaxed more when playing drunk, and therefore I am not panicing too much about "Can I do this, or this?" Meaning that while I rp sober, I am afraid to do any PnP stuff, or RP I would be playing.. for an example with magic.. I hate it that I get panicked, but can't help it.
Also I get panicked when speaking with a DM or RP:ing with a DM controlled NPC.. in hangover or drunk, I am not.
Most certainly affects my roleplay every weekend, either saturday or sunday.(Hangover in the morning usually.) In Finland, you need to keep warm somehow!

I have to be really careful which character I log in with when intoxicated. I can play my Matron with a slight buzz, but drunk? No way. I do have a bard/SD that I love to play drunk because her personality is based off my being drunk, so when I am drunk, I play her great. However, leveling her whilst drunk..... not such a good idea.

When I'm intoxicated, I am still quite in control of my faculties. I do however tend to more typo's than I already usually make.
But intoxicated usually takes a lot of drink, or a lot quickly. I have a high metabolism, and burn off alcohol effects quite fast. If I've actually consumed enough to NOT be able to burn it off quickly, then it likely means I'm going to be physically ill as a result. For that reason, I'm generally pretty careful about how much I drink. The slightly tingly warm feeling of mild intoxication is nice - for the 5 minutes or so that it lasts with me, without constant reinforcement (aka, more red wine, usually). Illness...not so nice.

But really, I've never touched alcohol precisely because I am Irish. My genes compel me to be a lazy, unproductive, drunk. I already have the first two down pat, but I might as well not completely adhere to what is expected of me.

Well, I have played drunk before. Typos will be common then and also you will see my characters having more cheerful expressions, more laughing and such. But, while drunk I usually like to kill things, so I will probably find a party to hunt and such.
In RP I will also be more open to do crazy/funny things, will probably flirt for fun, but nothing serious just funny things. If I am drunk and I am playing I am in a great mood, so add typos to openness to have loads of undiscriminated fun.
I never offended anyone in game so I guess I am a cool drunk.

Must be the sugar. That's why non-drinkers are also annoying.. for some reason they're always on high-carb stuff with enough chemicals to make an elephant go bonkers.
I've tried scripting drunk. Didnt work because i kept mixing up the msn conversation windows with the compiler.

I think one drinking whilst playing Amia just needs to find a balance. If I am playing drunk, I try to make it so I am just merely buzzed, and not completely thrashed. I don't drink very often though. As someone previously said, it loosens me up a bit, and can help and be fun. Though I can't play properly when I'm trashed, screws everything up.

There is a fine line of drunkenness that must be obtained. Too drunk and all the small print blends together and you stare at the screen trying to decipher what it says as your face drifts closer and closer to the screen and then your girlfriend comes up behind you and scares you so bad that you go headfirst into the monitor and knock your beer onto your keyboard before you fall out of the computer chair and onto the floor with a none-too-lovely bruise to the tailbone to show for all the effort.

I have to relax and be in a quiet situation to feel the buzz. I have low alcohol response. (Think of it like a genetic tolerance; but it makes me high-risk for alcoholism).

The last time I was anywhere near drunk on Amia, I ended up in a party chat with some of the old Grove Members (Oarthias, etc.) doing shots of what I think was sour apple puckers, sprite, caramel, and vodka. I'm fairly certain after five or six of those, nothing I was typing was comprehensible and I'm pretty sure I said something horrific in the DM channel while WonWon was DM side.

I usually don't drink, as in get blasted at home.
Now, I am usually enjoying a good single malt scotch whilst playing, and yes, I do enjoy said scotch when I get off work... which is 7AM.
However, when I am off work, I enjoy a good bowl now and again. That works more for me regarding immersion than anything else.
