I got a canary diamond for making the bonus roll on burgling. When i tried to sell it to the stolen goods merchant, he wouldn't buy it.
Was the string for burgling bonus reward mis-coded, or did I get something extra special here?

what you got is the gem, not the stolen good. find a gem merchant and sell it to him. you will get about 1800-2000 for it.
