So after spending about an hour trying to find - and, finally, having succes in doing so - a specific portrait for a new character of mine, I have installed the required .tga files into my portrait pack. I made him, logged in with him, and everything showed up and was fine. I even sent the copies to BlackDahlya to be put into the next pack. Afterlogging out for a time and logging back in, however, the portrait does not show up - not even if I put the files in my override as well as my portrait cache.
What did I do wrong and how do I fix it?

Do you happen to have more than one character with the same name?
Perhaps you added the portrait to one of them but when you relogged you got the other?
Say... "David" has the portrait, but you relogged with "..David"?
I am not sure I understood what happened (or that I understood what you mean), either. Perhaps Tormie or any other knows? >.<
EDIT: I am going to check the files you sent. I will see if I can find what is the problem, but I will not make promises. I am no computer tech. ^^;
EDIT 2: They look normal. I have no idea what could have happened, other than what I already mentioned above.
EDIT 3: I tested in game and they worked. No idea what could be wrong on your end. Sorry. >.<
