Is it possible for a PC to dispel someone else's summons in Cordor? How? What spells work, do you target the summons or the PC, and do they need to be hostiled first? I've tried a few that should remove summoned creatures and nothing ever happens. This for the people who run through town trailing dire wolves or deaths and suchlike. |

You can't. Because Cordor's a non-PVP zone, you can't dispel friendly summons. |

Mord's and Greater dispells would work AFAIK, GD assuming they aren't twenty-fifth. Banishments and Dissmissals wont work because the person needs to be Neutral (I think) or hostile completely. Well, except Familliars/Companions, they can't be dispelled in any way other than Dismiss/Banish or the Widget the Cordorian Guards gain to rid them. |

I don't think they'd work on, say, an animal companion, since they aren't magical... |

Well, no, you're half right; it would work on, say, a familiar or a Summon. |

Cast on the summons or the owner? |

Actually, banishment works on outsiders no matter what faction they belong to. Whether it's neutral, party, or hostile. I've often banished my own EDK in fights. I'm not sure how it was possible, but POOF, DC 40 Banishment, and my EDK disappears. I may be wrong - but that's what I've been governed to understand with the spell Banishment. Tarick knows all about those accidental kills. |

@ Xavi I think your caster level needs to be the same or higher than that of the owner of the summon, too, for the spell to work. I know that in PnP that is how it is. Not sure about NWN, though. |

Mording/Dispelling the Caster/Necro (owner of the summon) will remove the summon. As far as I know, it requires a dispel check no different from say attempting to dispel the necromaner's bulls strength buff. So, the same d20 + Caster level (for mord) vs CL + 11 check applies. Meaning, if youre using a greater dispel (d20 + 15 max), you arent going to ever remove the level 25 wizard's efreet that's wandering along cordor with him. As a side note, Epic Mummy Dust cannot be removed by dispelling the caster I believe. |

Mords will also work to unshift people under polymorph self or shapechange, though not actual shifters. Keep in mind though, at least on an OOC level, that there may be consequences for casting such spells on people even if they are technically in support of the law of the city. |

Yeah, that's only on your own summons, all AoE's will effect your own summons. Tiefers in the same party as you wont be affected by Banish and in a No PvP area they wont be affected by any PC casting of Banish. Npc castings will work, though. |

If you aren't a guard or city official with power of arrest, then really you have no right to banish anybodies summon anyway right? That would be initiating a PvP situation, and the person whose summon you nuked would be well whithin their rights to nuke you back. Summons in Cordor is essentially meta-gaming the guards anyways. |

Well, it's a situation in which it's fine to do what the guards would have done anyway; no need to bother a DM every time someone walks in with a beholder, and one might not be online. |

Yeah, and we guards have our own way of dealing with summons granted. Like I said above though, casting the spell to get rid of them isn't necessarily against the law, but because of the potential for pissing off the person who owns the summon and the potential resulting dispute, there's always the chance you could wind up in trouble with the law anyway via your attempt to help it. And yes, technically bringing a summon into the city and walking around with it is meta-gaming the guards. Generally though, most of the people that i have seen do that either tend to be brand-new to the server, or unfamiliar with Cordor law. I think I've only encountered one repeat offender bringing summons into the city since I became a guard. I usually only happens once. Edit: Technical question, would it be possible to script the gates to prevent people from bringing an active summon through? While I don't have a problem with people coming out of the temple sometimes with summons, as they may have just arrived and be new to the server or city, there is no way the guards would let someone tailing a bear or a undead or something through the city gates without stopping them. Another suggestion someone actually directed at me would be to put some sort of unsummon effect or dispel effect on the gates when people walk in to get rid of summons, but for some reason I have the feeling that would cause a lot of objections. |

I may be wrong - but that's what I've been governed to understand with the spell Banishment. Tarick knows all about those accidental kills. Incorrect, actually. Mechanically, there are three reputations; Friendly (Green) - This is for people In Party, or for other players/Creatures in a No PvP Area. Neutral (Blue) - This is all other players unless Hostile, and any non-hostile NPCs. Due to the Difficulty Setting Amia is on. Any Summon, Dominate, or Familiar possessed by you is classified as Neutral for the purposes of all spells. This is why Banishment and other AoE's will affect your summons, but n one elses. Hostile (Enemy) - This is all players that have Hostiled you, and all hostile spawns. Banishment is a spell that works on any Hostile or any Neutral. That all said, no, there isn't really a way for a player to ditch another player's Familiar or Animal Companion. Summons can be ditched via dispells cast on the owner. |

As I said, I may be wrong - and so I was. |
