I request input on the viability of the following DC Request ideas: 1.) A large fire PLC capable of inflicting minor (but existent) fire damage to those that occupy the same space as it when standing in or passing through it, similar to a Wall of Fire spell. If possible, it would also be selectable so as to be able to be Bashed and "extinguished" in this way.
Rather than use the spell Wall of Fire, I want an effect which is not magical (nor reliant on a caster level/duration) and reflects that mundane nature in appearance as well. 2.) An ice floe PLC that does the same thing, with cold damage. The reason for each is that these things (and damage they can inflict) could be prepared in a mundane fashion for ritualistic purposes. If too complex or costly to script, I am aware that I could request the static PLCs and have participants in their effects harm themselves with the Rest Menu options, but I would first like to explore the possibility of a self-contained RP aid. I invite DMs and non-DMs alike to offer their suggestions and discussion.

I like the idea, and the fire one generally makes sense but how would one go about creating an ice floe, considering that is basically an iceberg, without magical means?

A block of ice could be purchased from some manner of merchant, or a trip to one of the cold regions made and it cut from there. There are places in the server where you can pick up an item like that already, even. The ice could be conjured magically as well, I imagine, though there is no NWN spell to readily do what a stationary slab of ice would (Ice Storm hardly qualifies), the root of the idea is that the damage, the cold burn caused is mundane, normal.

It's not that simple to script. Needs a PLC spawner that also spawns a trap on the same spot and a method to link both so the trap disappears when the PLC is gone. It's possible, but it won't be cheap.

Hmm, if it's just a minor fire damage thing you could have the PLC spawn a trap, and continuously respawn it whenever it's triggered. That way when the PLC is destroyed you can only trigger the trap one more time and it'll be gone for good. You could RPing that as the remaining embers of the fire or something, I don't think that'd have to be a big issue. Alternatively you could simply couple a visible effect to the PLC and have it cast a minor custom AoE fire spell on itself once per round? Admittedly, I haven't written any scripts in years, but it should be possible to bootstrap this

It's possible, but it won't be cheap. Is it a workable idea to figure out script-wise or should I instead rely on non-scripted, normal PLC objects and simply improvise, in you judgement? Additionally, would it cost more than the standard PLC DC cost to have the fire/ice floe be able to be walked through and occupy the same space as a PC?

The fire object could be walked through. If you're talking about the solid block of ice, it would be different. There are also patches of snow you could use which, obviously, could be walked over normally.

It's possible, but it won't be cheap. I can't remember if i saw it previously but can you tie monster abilities via script to PLC's? I'm thinking Aura of Fire here. It has a fixed length of 100 hours the damage is (1 + CL/3)d4 damage so if you make it level 1 it could possibly work?

the oger caves near fort summer has in the last level this magical orb that blasts you with magic damage when you are around it and when you brake it, it stops.
how does that work, because is that kind of what your looking for in terms of how to make his request?

I think the most relevant question is, if you are aware that you could simply get an item tool that just spawns a little patch of fire or ice, which is very easy to make, why don't you just do that and roleplay the ritual itself? It would be easier on everyone.

It would be easier on everyone. As I mentioned, for the convenience of having it all already integrated and self-sufficient after the initial start up work of scripting. The mechanical damage, while not needing to be significant, is desired for the RP purposes, and yes, can be achieved by use of the Hurt Yourself function. I considered the snow patch PLC as an alternative to the ice floe, and will go with that should the ice floe prove too awkward; however, the ice floe is more representative of what I want. I will certainly compromise should the "ideal" not be feasible, as there are a number of alternatives available - it is my preference for something that is "fully assembled" and ready to go upon placement.
