The last week I have tried to access, and post to "player maintained Wiki", it has been down. I have heard this happens all the time, but it seems to have been down for some time now. any ideas?

It sometimes happens when he's away for a while - last time I think he lost a fan on the unit and it overheated. This time he's moving, and one is then left to the mercy of ISPs and their in/efficiency in setting up a new service. I would hardly say that it's a regular occurrence.

I wonder if we should look into somewhere else hosting the wiki instead of shatagua? This happened before, as xaviara mentioned, but it is not a regular occurrence but something that I thought should be mentioned.

Why can't it be hosted on amiaworld.net?

I think Jan offered at some point. Shatuga does it as a favour to us - it's not a major inconvenience for him and he is an ex-Amian, but I expect that it would be one less concern for him if someone else were to host it.

We've talked about it before. I suggested Wikia and no one liked the idea so nothing happened. ::shrug::

Post subject:  Hey!

Yeah... Hi everyone! I'm a semi-he btw! I embrace my dual nature. ;)

Anyway!

I moved. AT&T promised me that my connection would be the same when I got to my new location, but they took the opportunity to decide to give me "the same" service I had, which at the old location included static IP, but they had since dropped that from the plan I had and like to charge $14.95 a month for it, which I ain't payin!

The AmiaWiki will be back up once I configure the domain to work properly with dyndhs or somesuch... please be patient.

Sorry for any inconvenience!

PS!

If someone ever wants to host it, it needs:

Mediawiki / PHP
MySQL

And that's about it! I can easily export the database and zip up the mediawiki folder for .... whomever... for installation at a new location.

I don't mind hosting it, and it rarely goes down, but it does go down occasionally / when I restart my beloved Howard. (That's the name of my compie... Howard... isn't that cute?)

Mine is called OWNER-BA387A97D

If it was BA37A9D, it would be funnier. Alas, I didn't name it.

We can host it on the AMIA server.

But then the Amia-addicts have nothing to do when Amia goes down :P
I'm not particularly for or against the idea, to be honest, so long as it doesn't affect lag.
