Lets say, just for @%#&'& and giggles that A toon has been RP'ing with another toon towards PVP. Lets say that this RP goes on for a few days, and said PvP is agreed upon. Now the day comes when the Pvp is going to take place, and the attacking toon sets hostile, then waits a good amount of time for the other toon to set hostile, and eventually attacks. Lets say that the time they waited is three minutes. Would that be a fair amount of time to let the opposing toon set hostile? After waiting that long, the toon was attacked, and lost. Now lets say that the toon who lost states that the RP, and killing is to be wiped away as if it never happened, because they did not have time to set hostile. Is that fair? Should the other toon abide by that?

Only one person needs to set hostile.

Hypomathamotically speaking the player seeking to void the RP is just pissed that he or she lost.

This thread is a terrible attempt it seems at circumventing the no mention of IC events rule.

I have to agree with Moshing on all aspects of this post.

Though, I do applaud you're TRYING to avoid direct mention of an ingame incident, it's oozing through enough I bet any aware of the particulars'd know.

In that situation, one should suck it up as it is the adult thing to do.

If they were not content with it... just let it slide like water off the back of a duck. A pvp victory/loss to me is rather meaningless.

Well that's what I'd do...anyways.

Aye, I'm surprised this wasn't locked an hour ago. Don't mention specific incidents or make 'hypothetical situations' that are based entirely on them.

That said, a biased poll will teach you nothing.

And hypothetically it's not nul just because they lost.

Basically if they lost, they should make a better build and suck it up.

The only reason they could have about being angry would be is if there was a major lag and said character was a spellcaster character, but even then they should not be mad at you or request to forget the entire deal.

Just go along with it and RP the rest out.

That's not a fair statement. Ever.

If you lose combat you should roll with it, but you should never feel obliged to go and make a stronger build just because of PvP.

I suppose it all depends on the frame of mind of the player that wishes to void the RP. If the given "hypothetical example" given above stands true, then I'd say that a few moments is more than gracious enough. My usual PvP goes this way:

*RP, RP, RP*
*RP aggression, conflict, etc.*
(Tell from me) Permission for possible PvP?
(Tell from them) Okay.
*Give an IC way out*
*set Character to hostile*
*wait for them to twitch the wrong way*
*attack*

If I lose, I lose. If I win, I win. Either way, it's a good time and will probably spawn some good RP later on if both parties stay reasonable and carry on with the RP. If the other party doesn't want to be part of it, wipe your hands off and go on with your RP. You can only control your own character. Remain calm, obey all the rules of the server and try to be the best RP'er you can.
