I've currently got a character trying to smash a locked door down.
But I don't understand where I get my roll from.
Here's a couple that just came up. Almost identical, but with wildly different results.
Power Attack: ....Attacks Dungeon door (hit 7+16=23)
Bashing Door: Failure (7 vs DC twentyeight)
DR Absorbs 11 damage
Power Attack: ....Attacks Dungeon door (hit 7+16=23)
Bashing Door: Failure (20 vs DC twentyeight)
DR Absorbs 12 damage
I just dont get it! Rolling a 1 and missing the door bringing up higher rolls than power attack criticals. I just have no idea what is going on (And as a result, How can I get twentyeight)
Can somebody please explain?

I'm pretty sure it's based either on strength or bludgeoning damage to the door.
with a 1d20 roll So either damage+1d20 VS DC after dmg reductions
or a 1d20+str VS DC

also, I would like to ask how one uses the doors that give the message: "You can use Xp to pick or bash this door."
Thanks

You either pick the lock and get some xp, mostly around 40 or so, or you bash it open.

I think that might be it. d20+Str. The range of numbers I'm seeing fit with that. Between 1 and 20 above my chars Str Mod
Which is, unfortunately, less than 8. Darn.
Thanks though!

Whenever a door is struck, at least those that can be knocked down via Disco's script, it'll do a 1d20+STR vs DC.
If you beat it, it'll be broken. f not, tough luck.
The "Damage Resisted" is simply a feedback from the NWN hardcoded action of trying to damage an object. Ignore it

I've gotten numbers lower than my Str modifier before

I have to say that you should probably be thankful that you can even bash down the door at all. Amia suffers quite badly from the "Impossible Lock" syndrome.

I have a question to add:
How is DC determined?
I was in those crypts north of Ne'sek with another PC; mine level 21 and theirs level 17.
They had a DC of 29 to beat, I think it was, where I had a DC of 33 to try and beat for bashing attempts on the same door. [which we never managed].
Is door bash DC weighted against your PC? Or was this something else funky dunky? Why wouldn't a door have a set DC? *The door suddenly is stronger seeing the orc get near it after the human's piddly attempts*

I miss the damage based doors, it was much better. but that might be because only like dragon form can take out doors now, maybe golem not sure.

Have you tried dire tiger? 27STR = 8(.5) STR mod still boostable with bulls str and armor items

Sorry to double-post this. See above. But I'm really wondering if anyone knows.
