Big request I know but I thought, considering Amia is an island and all, that it would be a good job to throw into the mix.

I was thinking it could be added as a means through which people could attempt to earn their passage on the various ferries that crisscross the seas around the islands.

On a success you get where you want to go and earn a little money and exp.. On a failure you earn a reduced sum of money, no exp. and wind up at a randomly determined location somewhere on the server you are on (the coxswain lied to you about the ships destination to get you on the crew).

Add the cool down time preventing people from island hopping to make a mint and this could be a fun job to take. Certainly encourage lower level sailors to explore new ports anyway.

Please add you criticisms and suggestions, I think this has promise.

I remember when I made my pure Sailor Character. Saul Terry (Salty). It was an absolute blast! Level two, common guy, but wicked sailor.

The roleplay was great, and personally, I'd encourage all sorts of "Off-shore" roleplay. Its something not done often, but loads of fun.

Also, not that it counts heavily, I think your idea of the Sailor Job is great. Maybe a suggestion- if the job roll fails, it could be because the wind was coming from a wrong direction, mile wide lulls (Lapses in wind, opposites of "puffs"). Square Rigged boats can only steer about.... er..70 degrees from the eye of the wind, or so, making it nearly impossible to steer upwind. (Hence the triangular sails of today.)

Anyway, my opinion is an absolute GO! And if this sets sail, I might be tempted to revive my character.
