Post subject:  Shadowdancers...

Like the title speaks... They're, in my opinion, a very interesting/peculiar and no doubt complex class. A skilled Shadowdancer might be a force to be reckon with.

One of the neatest things to me is that they can pretty much hide in plain sight. Sorry if I sound so "fascinated", but I must say that I'm still pretty new to this server.

However, what I wanted to ask about this class is basically their skill to hide in plain sight. One can see how it can be abused and misused for the player's own interests.

One such case is out hunting. Now, I'm aware a Shadowdancer can't "tank" or fight by him/herself throughout an entire dungeon or area. Maybe they can...maybe not. Nevertheless, it can prove to be quite tedious. That is why they hide and "sneak" all the way to the end to fight the main boss, right?

But, what if during their sneak through the area, they run into another individual who is making his/her way down to the same enemy leader? Is it fair if that certain Shadowdancer completely disregards the presence of the player, continues forward, spawns every single creature on the way there, then finishes the boss off?

Guess what I'm trying to say is: I have come across this problem (might not be a problem; don't know) two to three times, now. I make my way ALL the way down to the bottom, realize some of the enemies are already waiting for me. I defeat them, struggling through the process, then head down to the boss...only to find that it has been taken by some Loser who decided to sneak their way past me.

:?

Like I said, I might still be new to the whole rules, but I feel this is a bit unfair. Doesn't one own the area if he/she gets there first? Let alone, halfway through the area already?

Yes, if you were there first, then the area is yours. Sneaking past is totally against the rules, the best thing to do would be to inform a DM.

Yes. Own. It's your hunting/training area, no?

That's the problem, though. How? You don't even know who snuck past you....b/c you can't see them. Well, some characters can, as they have a ridiculously high Spot skill. If you suck at builds however, in this case ME, you can't see them.

For one run through, not a whole reset or anything though.

Ok well, Shadowdancer or not, if you run past someone whilst they're hunting, you're breaking rules. People do it in invisibility also.
It's also against the rules to disregard someone else's RP.

That said, if they're HiPS/Attacking non-stop, their progress is likely to be slower than yours. So if you've been hunting for a while, and then run into one, there's still a good chance that they were actually there first.

Example of this: Yesterday I was hunting Yuan-ti. By the time I'm downstairs on the bridge, someone else begins to start the level above me. I'm dancing, so it's taking me a while to get each one down. Because I'd stopped off in the Library and then come back out, the spawns were there waiting for the next person who came along. It would have been easy for someone to have a clear run through, then see me and assume I'd run ahead.

If a DM is online, they'll be able to help you.

I hate when people try to run past.

I find it funny how some still try, regardless the fact i have my Pseudo summoned when as my mage, pure arrogance.

I do possess it to check who is near by, or when someone is portaling in and no one 'seems' to exit the portal, so 90% of the time, i'll be able to screeny it, incase i have to report it.

No player by any method is allowed to overtake any hunting area from any other player or any reason without the explicit permission from all in the party who were in the area first.

No player.

No time.

No how.

That ends the topic. If you have issues, take it up with a DM.
