Do we have a DM who's the authority on lore writing? I've walked to some of the new areas and just wondered. What the hell are all these ruins and dead people about? Some of these entries are plain empty http://amiawiki.shatuga.com/index.php/C ... :Geography http://amiawiki.shatuga.com/index.php/C ... ettlements Any other players who are interested in polishing up the wiki? |

Disco knows a lot of the lore about Khem and Frozenfar, given he wrote most all of it. If it's actually old areas in the module you're wondering about, that'd probably be me or Jud's purview. As for the actual writing of the lore, that tends to be done by Ron, Iron, and Yossarin. A long time back, I was working on the wiki, but it's a bloody lot of work, and stuff got added and changed faster than I could ever hope to keep up. Some of them are also out of date. The "Ankh'remun Desert" one, for instance, is entirely old now that Khem has been put in. |

My guess would be Iron had something to do with it? And I belive Tormak has written a fair deal of the lore there. The wiki is avaiable to all and thus every player are able to write there. But please please do not write anything without sources or actual lore backing it up. In order for the wiki to be of any use readers must able to trust that the content is actual lore not made up stuff. If the lore has not yet been defined by the dms the best to do is really to wait for them to write something up about it. Oh and some things might never go on the wiki because they are meant to be discovered IG. Apart from those two things please feel free to expand the parts where the wiki is faltering. |

Well, just waiting for us to write something isn't a safe bet. You're better of asking. That gives us motivation to come up with something, if there's nothing written yet. |

so, Iron, if we were to write up some lore and then send it to you about these places, we can do so? would we need your, read DM team, confirmation about the lore being well amia lore correct? |

I stand corrected:) So what you prefere would be for us to point an area out we would like some lore about, or for us to write a piece of lore about an area and submit it to you for approval? |

Eh, well, it depends on what you want to know. I don't really know what I'd prefer, personally! It's a broad question. If you want to know what faiths are prominent in area X, just ask. If you want an artistic backstory for an undefined placeable in game, you're better off asking if there's any lore on it and then sending your own suggestion, etc. |

Just what I was hoping to hear. http://amiawiki.shatuga.com/index.php/Gulgars Who are the Gulgars? What make them immune to sonic damage? Are they all deaf? Is their hierarchy system barbaric tribal? Why is there a Diamond Golem in their cave? http://amiawiki.shatuga.com/index.php/Map According to the map, Nes'ek is on the Amian island. How about the rest of Khem, Djedet, the Whispering Rift and the Alamber sea? There are PCs that hail from the Whispering Rift, one of which was a Khan. Does that mean there is a Khanate somewhere around there? In the Amia Forest, a ruin was recently discovered. A stone writes that the "Blue Tribe" once inhabited the place. Who were the Blue Tribe? What artifacts has the archeologist uncovered that can tell us more about their lifestyle, history and destruction. |

Why is there a Diamond Golem in their cave? Gulgars are crystalline humanoids from the Elemental Plane of Earth. They have an affinity for sonic damages, and it's why they're immune to it. They're not deaf. I believe they're in the Monster Manual... 2? Maybe even classic MM. They're canon DnD creatures. Not sure about the hierarchy system. As for the Diamond Golem, I'd say it's another thing from the Elemental Plane of Earth that came with the Gulgars. Quote: http://amiawiki.shatuga.com/index.php/Map

What artifacts has the archeologist uncovered that can tell us more about their lifestyle, history and destruction. Map is wrong, Ne'sek and Khem are all in the mainland ((gggrrrrr...)) in Mulhorand. That answers most of those questions. As for the "Whispering Rift" stuff, that was apparently a DM Evvent that I know very little about. Sorry. I doubt it's canon. Re: Amia Forest stuff: I doubt Disco looked at the PLCs too closely. All that stuff came from Lumorier, and so it's never been applicable to the Amian Forest lore. It was all written for Lumorier. |

Grrr.. Khem is still not on the mainland or in Mulhorand. It's in the Alamber Sea, so it's an island! But yeah, there's a portal to Nes'ek in the Skull Crags, and the village has never been on Amia. (In the current IC reality, at least; there was a time when it was assumed it was a tunnel that lead to the desert, but it's long since been retconned to be a portal; even before the rest of Khem got added.) |

Disco posted a map. It's quite close to Mulhorand and Thay, and ergo in the "Mainland". |

But if it's in the sea, it's not on land! Ergo, "Not in the mainland". But yeah. Alamber Sea is the part of Sea of Fallen Stars bordered by Mulhorand to the East, Unther to the West and Thay to the North. |

The Sea of Fallen Stars is a land locked sea in the mainland and Khem is an island within it, so you're both partly right. |

I almost never make things with lore attached. I make things that are sensible in a geographical, economical, or biological way. That explains most of it. You won't find mountains created by dragons, towns that are created by some half-breed superhero, or any of that fantasy (imo) dribble. So, look at the Frozenfar. It's basically as described in Volo's guides to the North. There are little trader/frontier towns occupied by miners, trappers and the like. Endir has a little story as a background, but not much more. Does it need more? I don't know. I can perfectly well live in Amsterdam without knowing the lore of that town. I just accept that London is what it is, and that Stockholm is the capital of Sweden. Khem is based on ancient Egyptian colonies/oases. You can ask "Why a Whispering Rift?". Well, frankly said, I had this idea of making monsters called Whispers, and needed an area for them. So, what you get is unknown territory with ghostlike creatures thet whisper bad thoughts into your mind. Why? No clue. Why does a cow have spots? Why does a male dog piss any tree in its vicinity? Why don't lions eat grass? No clue either, and I never saw anyone ask for lore on that. I'd rather see people write down their thoughts about these areas, and imagine how they were created or what they are used for. Describe their current status, and don't add some metagamey history lesson that 99% for the visitors wouldn't know to start with. |

Not meta. I'm looking more for current information and governance. Stuff like, who runs Endir's Point? Is it under the jurisdiction of Wiltun? Who owns the mines up North? Is Chillwyck another independant village? I know nobody RPs there and maybe it's because no one cares about the place and no one cares to ask. I think it's a good time to promote the place with a bit of lore and the new job system coming up. EDIT: I remember Disco came up with a handdrawn map to describe the transport system. Do we have any skilled cartographers in the house who can draw up an updated map of all the islands? |

Endir's is a bazillion miles north of Brog and Forrstakkr, even, on the mainland. again. Rage. |

Yups. Forrstakkr and Brog would actually be closer to it than to Amia. If anything could be called an anomaly it's Amia itself, the rest kinda makes sense in the Forgotten Realms setting. Endir is a colonist's type of frontier town. It doesn't fall into any fief. If you want more lore on Khem you should visit the Hoar 'shrine' and read the book there. I noticed some remark about the Blue Tribe above. That name I picked on purpose. It has a connection with a nearby feature, but I'll let you figure that one out yourself. |

1) Camouflage! Before cows were domesticated eons ago, they needed to hide themselves just like any other wild animal. Obviously, they came from a very spotty area in the world. 2) To mark their territory 3) They are carnivores and not herbivores Google knows everything |

The dwarven ruins at the end of Frozenfar, what's their story? Why are there so many bound ghosts of dwarves lurking about? Was the settlement ruined by evil magic? Caraigh is part of the Wiltun Jarldom? Jarl Wiltun laid a town(Aigheshed?) to waste due to some pact with evil forces? Who was the man who was sacrificed and impaled on the sword? |

Dramatic_Prince wrote: Caraigh is part of the Wiltun Jarldom? Technically, yes, the border of Wiltun extends a bit onto the Ruathym mainland until it reaches a border with a neighboring jarldom. However, in Wiltun, they seriously consolidate their power into the main fortress, which as you know is on an inhospitable rock just off the southern coast of Ruathym. If there is ever a question of legal jurisdiction, however, here's the way that works: all jarldoms are just feudal outposts paying fealty to the Ruathym capital far inland. They're all one large country, so if you make trouble in Wiltun, Lord Wiltun can have his men hound you all over the island of Ruathym, even into other jarldoms, if he so chooses. Quote: Jarl Wiltun laid a town(Aigheshed?) to waste due to some pact with evil forces? No. Wiltun is the "southern" jarldom on Ruathym, and Aigheshed is the "eastern" jarldom on Ruathym. Lord Wiltun never laid waste to the territory; any communications he and everyone else had with them ceased at some point, and they've been wondering what's been going on over there. Adventurers have, of course, told them that the area is abandoned and cursed. Those who have spoken to Lord Wiltun about Aigheshed know that he is deeply concerned about the apparent loss of the eastern jarldom's seat of power because it presents an exploitable avenue for those God damned Luskans to place an invading land force. Wiltun's little naval armada have any Luskan ships locked down in the sea, but if they were to get through and make it to land... It is ultimately the responsibility of the Chief Axe in the capital of Ruathym to address the Aigheshed problem. Maybe they're looking into it. Maybe they're not. Lord Wiltun doesn't appear to know for sure, and word in Wiltun is he's real itchy about it. Quote: Who was the man who was sacrificed and impaled on the sword?
Not going to spoil this, but you might be able to guess from the story above. |

Very informative Now I read that Ruathym is a fallen kingdom on the FR wiki. There's zero information about it. Can I assume that any Ruathym lore here is exclusive to Amia? If so, according to this rough map, where does the rest of Ruathym lie? Also Caraigh and Frozenfar.

By 4.0, in just shy of 200 years from Amia's setting (I think), yes, it is quite plausible that Ruathym is a fallen nation. According to that map, I would probably slide Brog and Forrstakkr to the west to be more directly north of Amia, and plant the southern coast of Ruathym roughly where they are, with the tiny Wiltun fortress island just off the south coast of Ruathym. But that's just me, really. I've looked at an FR map of where Ruathym is in relation to canon islands and I was pretty sure that Amia was due southwest of it. |

The travel map isn't on/in/at/whatever scale. The distance between Amia and any of the other islands is many many times the radius of Amia itself. |

A bit like that. I assume Ruathym has a lot of small islands though, that aren't on the official map. Wiltun and Caraigh are two of those. I imagine Brog to be somewhat close to the Icepeak, and Forrstakkr a bit more to the northwest, close to the Sea of Moving Ice. |

Just a quick history question - Wiltun, Northlander Enclave or Ffolk Settlement? Since the peace of 20 years pre amia time, has there been any mixing etc? Just wondering cos Fflok are a human subrace and it's for making a character. I know it was settled by Hawmin and tbh they all sound like Northlanders. buut *shrug* |

Ruathym is where the Northmen came from, but it's now inhabited by folk originating from the mainland, pirates of the same racial stock as Luskans. Northmen mostly live on the Moonshaes now. |
