I suspect my Paladin may be heading down a path which could lead to his becoming fallen. My question is what should I do/how will I know if he has gone far enough to fall? I realize there are obvious situations like premeditated murder and such. but what about little things that start to add up?

Ask a DM to watch would be my suggestion.

I'm ok with the consequences. If he falls he falls, and if he can be redeemed, he can be redeemed. I guess I'll just have to inform a few DM's the situation in detail, and keep them up dated as things happen.

Oh oh, and once you've fallen, make sure you take two Blackguard levels to be ridiculously OP with saves. >_>
PS: This was a joke, I sincerely don't recommend you do it else it'll be obvious it was aimed at a powerbuild.

Tempting, but no. I imagine if he fell he would still be a good person, he would just no longer have the favor of his god. So it would be fighter levels or no levels until he could redeem him self (if he could at all). He seems to be involved in something which he thinks is right, but might not actually be. In fact he may not be doing anything wrong at all apart from an association with folks who are.

If you take these dilemmas seriously and keep the DMs updated on your process, I will love you. That's the attitude I like to see when it comes to paladin RP.

Good paladin RP is always hard to find.
So, if you do that, my respect to you, really.
Also sounds as if your paladin RP is quite good.

You silly BG save stackers forget that fallen paladins have to rebuild as fighters! Muhahaha!
As for my RP advice, go with the flow. Don't restrict yourself too much with fears of falling.

Hah, true story. I remember when my Lathanderite priest "Went to the Darkside". Its some of the best RP I've had with him. It was really, really intense. Just get into the RP with an open mind, (Or one completely closed on Darkness.. ). You'll have fun, so dont stress out about the restrictions of Fallens. With proper and amazing RP, -anything- is possible!

Look at what Palpatine did with it :P
Badly implemented as it was in the Star Wars movies, the 'tragic hero' genrally works perfectly for a paladin ... I once had one (an NPC) who was tormented by a devil. Eventually, the pally fell even though he was doing the right thing, just not the lawful or moral thing.

By the way, we have a Fall widget that disables your divine abilities while you're fallen, so there's no need to worry about a rebuild. If the DMs demand that you rebuild for some reason, it will obviously be free.

That is good to know. I'm absolutely ok with him falling, if thats where the RP goes. Mainly I just wanted to see how extensively I should update DMs on his plight.
