Sorry, especially to those waiting for my running of the Caravan, but something just fried itself on my computer. It won't run NWN most of the time. I'm suspecting a virus, because everything else seems fine, save my computer's now running at about 1/4 normal speed, and won't load NWN half the time.

Two quick questions:

1) Do you have Vista?

2) If you do, have you tried running in Administrator mode? (quirky as it sounds)

Noises? Peculiar sounds?

Boot into safe mode and run scanners.

It might also help to know what exactly happened. Were you surfing the internet or something and things went boom? How did it go down?

It could be that the CMOS battery on your motherboard has died. This means that the default settings get loaded instead of your settings, so things like CPU multiplier or clock frequency are not set properly. It may also be that the values have been reset and there's nothing wrong with your battery.

Depending on your board, the CMOS battery might not be removable, you'd need to check with the manufacturer if it isn't a regular coin cell.

Both my NWN capable computers are out, too. Not that I haven't been busy otherwise lately, but now that I have time again I can't login, lol.

Hopefully I'll be back quite soon. I think I've pretty much got the problem solved.
