| Post subject: | Earth Genasi Faction |
I have a new character, an earth genasi called 'Thern Rockshoulder'. I was thinking perhaps a faction existed, or if not one could. My idea for one if none was there was something to do with thje law. As earth genasi have a lawful inclination i thought some guild/group of enforcers or something of the sort. Ideas? Comments? |

There was a coalition of Genasi at one point, I'm not sure if they're steel meeting at times, though. Try checking with LetumLux. |

The player that spearheaded that isn't active on Amia anymore, sadly, but the idea of it still lingers. Some of the people that were involved are still around, but rather entrenched in other factions; others have phased out and haven't been seen or heard from. The idea was a loose one, not so much a faction as a community. At the time, there was some rather "alarming" and active discrimination going on against genasi (as well as other planetouched and non-prime human/demi-human races), so a council was formed in response, and the idea of a community formed to provide support to the genasi that wanted it. Naturally, when you get together a bunch of genasi of different elements, sparks/steam/smoke/etc flew and it was hardly a harmonious thing during council meetings, but great fun and puns. I can't and won't speak for the others than are still around, but my genasi still holds to that and is still willing to help out (sane) genasi of any elemental heritage even if it's not an official thing. Old notes about it are probably still circulating about the League of Travelers in the Triumvir, for an IC lead. |

Well a faction would be interesting. Either an organised group of multiple elements. However that seems unstable. Or as i said, a group of earth genasi enforcers. |

I think you're better off opening yourself to "Genasi" or "planetouched" Alternately: Don't make a new faction and integrate yourselves into a current one. |

Unlike Hin, Dwarves, Elves, Humans, etc, Genasi don't have a place of their own. Tieflings have got Zanshibon and Aasimar have got Kolinghen technically. Kampo's is the default 'home for my race' if you choose it when you create your Genasi. In reality, most Genasi seem to live in Cordor (my own lives in Djedet as I feel it suits those Genasi from Calimshan or Zakhara better than anywhere else). Also, opposite elements would likely mean the Lawful Genasi and the Chaos ones wouldn't actually get on much anyways. Air would not be too fond of Earth and so forth. Joining other factions is an option. However, a faction for Genasi -might- be an option if there's enough of them with a common purpose. I personally would like to be involved in a faction that's based in Djedet and seeks to operate out of it and defend it. |

Inarus, my air genasi, wouldn't join any group. He thinks Air Genasi above all others, shun's the other elementals/genasi, and the prime planes are smelly places filled with stupid primer's who generally do stupid things. |

I am torn on the matter personally. I agree that it's bad to create ever more factions, but at the same time I love Earth Genasi. If you are to do this, then might I suggest a Hold of Grumbar catering to Elemental Archons, Earth Genasi, Monks of the Unchanging Face and just conservative fellows in general. "Worshipers The church of Grumbar is organized into small sects known as Holds (Christian churches, etc etc), each comprising seven clerics, seven monks, and seven rangers and as many laity as can be supported. Those who follow the Earthlord can often be found in public preaching against evils of boarding ships and setting sail to uncharted lands, preferring exploration on the continent of Faerûn. Grumbar's dogma:The eternal Grumbar is perfect and unchanging. Strive to be more like the eternal one, not to change or allow change to happen. One's given word is the bedrock upon which a stable society is built. To break an oath is to cause a crack in the foundation of civilization. Go forth and spread the word of Grumbar and show through your works the stability and safety he brings." |

I would never want a large Genasi-community. Wee "faction"-groups would be awesome. |

Go home, Kjetta! In as small a geographical region as our module areas, supporting yet another temple is implausible. A Hold of Grumbar would require more than just PC support. I have no strong opinion on the idea, but then, no one asked for my opinion. Genasi often either seperate themselves from society (or others do that for them) or try to fit in. I suppose Earth Genasi would be more likely to flock together, but it's not a given: I imagine those who get by in society aren't terribly keen on emphasizing their outsider nature, but instead prefer to keep a low profile. Often this isn't an issue Genasi have to think about, because they're so damn rare. A Genasi anywhere else than Amia isn't likely to know many other Genasi, save for perhaps some families in Calimshan. |

Go home, Iron! (Actually, leave home, go to Helsinki) I was not thinking a large temple or church, but a small sect. Perhaps 7 members? It would ...rock! |
