Okay, so Amia is PG-13. It's been that way forever, but I have a question. PG-13 movies usually have swearing and such. Just went over the rules now, and didn't find anything about swearing being out right not allowed, even OOC in party.
So is swearing a bannable offense even if done in party chat?
It sounds like that it's expected the person offended needs to say they are uncomfortable with swearing first and ask it's not done. If they say so, and the person continues, they then may say to a DM, and the DM takes measure. Would that be right?

I have warned people about swearing in party chat, but those were rather gross instances. I doubt you'll get a spanking because you say a dirty word or two.
Context matters, though. There's a subtle difference between calling other players 'fucking yellow shit monkeys' and saying 'shit, I dropped my fucking coffee', even though the naughty words are exactly the same.
It's, well, discouraged. We can't outright ban such an ambigious thing as "swearing" nor should we.
However, a DM can and often will tell you to watch your language if she/he spots something inappropriate, either in Party chat or in RP. And you have to abide by the DM order/request whether it's prohibited by written rules or not.
Use common sense, and don't be offended if a DM tells you to tone it down.

Yeah right, as if a thing like an insult wouldn't automatically look to sink to the bottom of the referential pit. What better for that purpose than feces, sex, body odour.. people just won't feel the sting if you posture yourself in front of them and start with "And by the Light of Shinuggubuddurrgh, I...!"
Try a combination of a disease, an animal and a repulsive act, for example.
Imagination is the limit of RP cussing and insulting. Everyone can use the common assholes and fucks and cunts and so on, so they don't impress anyone in RP. Creative use of less common insults makes people laugh OOCly, however. And might earn a couple of DCs.

I love creative swearing. It's beautiful. It's art. Using "RL" cussing in game will make me cry blood, though. I also warn people about using naughty language in party chat, if it gets excessive. So, best to keep the f-words out of here.

I've just been known to swear occasionally in party chat, and I know in the bloodbeard parties we do it a lot to. I never swear at someone, just in context of a sentence as shown by Disco.
Thanks for clearing that up. Just hate to suddenly be banned from the server because I said a bad word when talking to a mate in party chat.

If I ever wanna say fuck in game, I usually say f-in or something. If you think the character might swear, you can get the point across without actually typing out the full word that might offend people. Some will imagine the real word fuck and some will imagine you sayin' it a more polite way. Kinda like how Yossarin says people will interpret whatever you say how they want to, ya can be safe with cuss words and still get the cuss words' point across too.
I always fancied using either the mild cusses (Arse, Piss, etc). Anything serious I do something like this to get the point across;

I guess the fun-factor is the main reason I'm so against using modern strong cusswords in RP, even though I cuss like a sailor myself. It's not entertaining OOCly to see the f's and c's and others fly in midst of RP, when I know I use them when I'm angry myself. RP shouldn't be about being angry or anything, after all, but even the angry RP should be entertaining to everyone. To me, it's the association the words have more than actually being offended by them.

I use words like damn, hell and arse, but never anything stronger ('cause I don't use them IRL).
Amia isn't an M-15+ server, so I generally think of these things to be avoided ... I don't see any PG (here PG is for under 15) movies with strong cursing.
That said, phrases like "thrice-damned harlot" come in useful.

Calling someone homosexual as an insult is basically as old as .. well, religions that advocate against it (which shouldn't be FR as far as I know but is certainly most of the monotheistic religions IRL).
Personally I think it's a reasonable 'insult' (although I don't see such things as an insult).

These days, it's usually whispered, as the Guard's official stance on berating idiotic citizens is that doing so is hardly conducive to preserving the public trust, no matter how much they deserve it.

A few possible synonyms for 'lesbian' that I've come up with:
(Little) Flower. Polite/innocuous. Of Kara-Turan origin. Reference to the female genitalia.
Lover of women. Polite/innocuous. Pretty much what it says.
Lily / Lilly. Innocuous. Reference to the flower. As a girl's name, a reference to a lover of women (accompanied by a 'nudge nudge wink wink'); roughly the RL equivalent of 'Bruce' for a man.
Sister. Polite/affectionate. Used by lovers of women to refer to others of similar inclination.
Aunt / Niece (or Little Sister). Polite/affectionate. Used by lovers of women to refer to a rather older or younger lover (respectively).
Finger-warmer / Thumb-warmer. Moderately offensive depending on tone & context. May be used by a man for a girl who wont 'go all the way' to imply that it is because she is a lover of women.
Bearded lady. Offensive. Implication that one so named is very masculine. Also a reference to oral-genital activity.
Cave girl. Offensive. Several sorts of implied references to copious non-heterosexual activity.
Sheathe-licker. Offensive. Pretty obvious.
Rod-bait / Staff-bait. Offensive. Reference to some males opinions that lovers of women are only thus because they have not been 'properly taught'. A three-fold reference to male genitalia, instruments of correction and implied abnormal urges on the woman's part.
Sword-bait. Highly offensive. As above but more so.
I've avoided some potentially more graphic terms (eg. 'rug-muncher'). I'll see if I can come up with some others.

anyways I never swear.. never ever my mouth is clean, I'm an angel and want to get tattooed wings to prove it! by wngs I mean something simular to Randy Orton's tattoo on his back.
But other than that.. with a couple of my characters who aren't as blunt as ruces love child with billy Conolly, I like to get a little creative with threats Keri will use one she used to hear gareb say "Simmer down little tea pot before i have to pour you out"
