Some gods may be better served with fewer followers anyhow, because power isn't just about god-juice levels. Knowledge, influence over key areas (like Mystra being able to deny any god access to the Weave), and plans set in motion can have great weight. Perhaps a 20% increase in the followerbase of Velsharoon might not be beneficial if it increased hostility toward the church or if it hampered the efforts of high priests busy with important projects. If the same effort increased the followerbase by 50% instead, it might become beneficial. And so on.

I support all sorts of religious RP. I find it highly ironic, by the way, that the church of Shar has a temple in a haven of knowledge, but I am sure there are IC reason. Could be make for some great conflict if there are any Sharran PCs around!

Velsharoon has been a god for merely 14 years. I'd say that in 14 years he did quite a bit. I'm siding with Richard_Edmund on this. Quality over quantity.
