Hunting Areas generally transcend the 'realistic' as one might call it. They have special rules that are followed for OOC common sense, not IC correctness.
They include no running ahead and PvP for areas.
This blocking is really dumb though and abuses the lack of target and limitations with the game engine. You aren't being clever or cool or coming up with the neat way of staying safe, you are just abusing OOC mechanics.
It shouldn't be bannable but the person should really be told to get some common sense.

I disagree, it should be considered on the 'you get smote for this' by a DM.

QFE, and a summary of my own opinions.

I kind of agree, it is just the kind of thing some people think they are being really clever and good RPers for doing, so some are just lacking a little common sense.

Hey now, lets watch the comments saying people lack common sense you guys. Constructive criticism is one thing, but lets avoid suggesting anything other than the best of our fellow players. It is great RP if they sit there and RP setting these things up and we shouldn't discourage that act.
Otherwise, I agree, doing something like that with tables or altars for the purpose of blocking a route is (almost if not entirely) metagaming the restrictions of the game and making them IC player thoughts. Realistically, most folks should be able to jump over it if NWN recognized 'jumping'.
Then again there comes a time when every fighter must see that vial of alchemist's fire as more than simply a GP value. I like the idea of dungeons throwing something at you like that where you should be a better prepared adventurer or part of a stereotypical "full party". Full party being denoted by: a mage, a cleric, a fighter, a 2nd line fighter, and a rogue.

Using an object that can not be bashed to block a pathway should remain in the hands of the DM's. The people doing it may think themselves clever, but they're really just hampering RP by preventing anyone from coming up behind them. If one of my characters ran across a blockade like that, they'd probably go to where the exit of the dungeon in question is, wait for whoever happens to pop out and proceed to be very angry about the situation. If they take forever and a day, then I think it would be pretty safe to assume they're camping and I'd notify a DM. I feel it's pretty safe to assume that someone abusing game mechanics will probably abuse other facets of the game, including but limited to rules about hunting areas and farming.

This happens more frequently than it should. I have on a number of occassion went the spires and after the first few spawn, and heading across the trapped bridge, would find a throne right on the bridge blocking the way. NICE. Next time I see it, I will screenie it, blast it to pieces and proceed on.

Uh wow. This is the exact reason these placeables can't be placed in hunting areas. Way to abuse the job system to get around and exploit the fact that you can't use the bought PLCs for it.
This is why we can't have nice things.
It's not a "Spell". That's PNP. You don't have consent. You didn't get permission. I certainly HOPE a DM didn't tell you it was okay to do.

We shall see. I await an answer from Talia, and will, until I get that answer, lock this thread.
I will be expecting a PM from you.
