While it annoys me that damage types automatically add their visual to weps, I accept that the non-elemental ones are icly glowing with the aura of their damage type.

BUT....

I can't accept that the visuals we the PLAYER see onhit, are actually IC as well. Excepting elemental, again. I don't think positive/negative/divine damage sources would have a visible effect when you hit - the effect should be more in the fact that you can kill something more readily with it than without it.

So knowing that your sword with 1d8 positive damage vs. evil, will kill an evil goblin faster than your plain longsword with no extra damage on it, that makes sense. BUT taking that 1d8 vs evil sword and killing a *person* with it, well, that shouldn't be a good indicator of alignment, because maybe you got a lucky hit in. Maybe they're simply weak.

There's smiply too many reasons why such things shouldn't be claimed to be an IC indicator, rather than outright metagaming.

The visuals are there for our entertainment, just like how see invis has the ring of eyes, which isn't *really* there, it's just an indicator to the player.

How about adding a no damage property?

Otherwise, level 3 characters might die in one strike.
