Does the assassin beefing only cover the spells, or are there other things he gives?

Im thinking you will want 21 ranger, 7 sd, 2 rogue.... can max ms/hide and spot pretty easily. And can get umd, tumble, and set trap (yummies).
the 21 ranger gives bane + favored enemies. You can choose all PC races if you wanted. Damage wont be to ugly either 2d6+5 extra per hit. Since you will go dex you can still get great ab with the high ranger levels.
thats just one idea, I love rangers though so im biased.

Not bad Pigeon with just one twist. I'd like to keep at least SD 10 for the summoned shadow and the top SD only shop.

If you want the shadow, you may want to consider 13 SD for epic shadow. The Shadow will be too much of a liability otherwise. Even then, it won't be an uber summon.
Something like Rogue 11/Ranger 1/SD 8 into Rogue 16/Ranger 1/SD 13? HiPS spammers don't need more than four attacks per a round.
SDs aren't my strongest suit though, and beyond SD 10, you can easily find better options.

Fair point on attacks per round though. Had not thought about that. Thanks

Due to a lack of knowledge about high end characters on amia I can't really say, but how does the AB with TS compare to flatfooted targets?
There are 3 pre epic feats still open, I didn't see any options besides skill focus hide/MS or initiative feats, suggestions?
There are 3 fav enemies to be chosen, as an assassin Human / Elf are a must I guess, what should be the third?
Now, go ahead and point in how many ways I built wrongly

Ain't no monkey grip in NWN.
Highest great smite in NWN is gotten with a paladin/wm weilding a scythe.
This is a horrible idea, mind.

Actually, monkeygrip can be purchased for 25 DCs. IT basically changes your shape to a larger model so you can equip a two-handed weapon and a shield, then puts you back down to your normal model.
For the record, scythes are probably one of those weapons that'll be turned aside for Monkeygripping. It's that good.

UMD? Probably 16 or so, since you'll have a +14 Modifier.
Openlock is up to you, really. You can have one and boost it with items, or 33 and boost it with items.
0 are needed for craft weapon and armor. Just replace these with items and fox cunnings. The highest DC I've seen is somewhere in the 30s.
Taunt should be maxed if you're going that route. I'd be wary about lightly armor skirmishers since it'll leave you flatfooted, iirc while you're taunting.

The highest Great Smite i've seen on Amia was 900ish Gr. Smite Critical off a Halberd. Was pretty funny seeing a Barb with 600 HP get insta killed of a non-dev.
However a standard rule of thumb is Gr. Smite 4 or 5 otherwise on Amia or you are ruining build potential.
I think the fellow had Gr. Eight. On a 20 Pally 10 CoT. 810 of Smite damage + 15 of Div Wrath + 42 Divine Might + 15 Divine Favor + 3 Prayer + 15 GMW + (1d10)*3 + (1d12)*3 + 9 from Deafening Clang.

The Craft skills are RP reasons and I will have 210skillpoints on this char so I think I can afford a bit. but Then I will only have to put a few skills in it.
Thx

The DA DC is good there. But keep in mind that it only works for the first attack round, and that only if you're the one who's attacking first (won initiative/surprise round). Once the enemy enters combat, no fortitude saves vs Paralysis. Also, I'll assume you know the other weaknesses of the DA (freedom items etc).
AB 30? People laughed at my +37...
Concerning flatfooted targets: See the post below this one.
I don't think you should spend feats for hide or move silently. You'd only be cornersneaking anyway, and corners give a bonus to hide checks.
IMHO, you should aim for the highest possible DEX stat and add the INT as a bonus. The death attack, at this point, is not a reliable investment. Go for a high enough Attack Bonus and spend your feats for extra d6's for your sneak dmg. You can get the DA fort DC up to the high 30's if you try.
EDIT: Yes, the assassin trainer only offers you spells.

Flatfoot makes you lose your Dodge and Dex bonus IIRC.
Uncanny Dodge will allow you to keep your Dex Bonus, but not your Dodge bonus if caught flatfooted.

Its been said before, and I'll say it again -USE IT- if your going to post advice -DOUBLE- check it. Have a good long think about it. And then check it again.

Paladin of Adama?
Problem with the Great Smite, as i noticed, is that you lack survivability a little.
You need to add like 1 Level monk to Skilldump Tumble, for you will be lacking AC, and you cannot take 2 Rogue for UMD; since you will be needing the Cot or Paladin levels.
As far as i've tested, 19Paladin,10Cot, 1Monk gave a nice mix, But you will -not- be taking anything else than Great Charisma +1, And Wep.Focus(unknown)
But you have a tonne of Feats to use, For example - You can take Craft Wand feat, and make Holy Avenger wands, You can Extend the Divine favour to last for ages.
All in all, a Fully buffed Smite paladin had 70+AC(Due to divine shield)(NO Armor skin)
+55AB (Divine favour, CoT +5AB,
Shitloads of Saves...I ended up with 60+ actually...Wich is insane.
"Not" having devcrit was actually better, It takes some times with normal mobs, but you will be a ... Steamtank when buffed... And all bosses will die in a flash of smoke. Poof..

Paladins can only achieve 70 AC maximum if they are not Dex Based on Amia and thats with -all- +5 gear.
20 Dodge
10 Base
20 Shield, Armor, Deflection, Natural
20 Dex, Armor Skin, Tumble, Plate and Tower
= 70AC
A Gr. Smiters standard AB is around 48/49. Wrath gives 5 more for boss bashing.

Hi gang. Just a quick question regarding rebuilding levels. My character Diim is 21 wiz nd 9 PM. I am going to rebuild him as he is my first character and although I am happy with him, he can be so much better. I am looking to change out some feats in favour of EDK. I would like to see another Epic Spell, in addition to EMD that he alrady has but it is not terribly necessary. So I am wondering which progresssion should be used with regard to levels. In order for him to be able to take any Epic Spells, he needs to be Wiz 21 so I am wondering should all 21 wiz levels be taken first? Here is what I am thinking:
1 - Wiz 1 - summon familiar, scribe scroll, weap prof wiz
2 - Wiz 2
3 - Wiz 3 - Spell Focus: Necromancy
4 - Wiz 4
5 - Wiz 5 - Extend Spell
6 - Wiz 6 - Greater Spell Focus: Necromancy
7 - Wiz 7
8 - Wiz 8
9 - Wiz 9 - Craft Wand
10 - Wiz 10 - Maximize Spell
11 - Wiz 11
12 - Wiz 12 - Empower Spell
13 - Wiz 13
14 - Wiz 14
15 - Wiz 15 - Spell Focus: Conjuration, ________________
16 - Wiz 16
17 - Wiz 17
18 - Wiz 18 - _____________________
19 - Wiz 19
20 - Wiz 20 - Greater Spell Focus: Conjuration
21 - Wiz 21 - Epic Spell Focus: Necromancy
22 - PM 1
23 - PM 2
24 - PM 3 - Epic Spell Focus: Conjuration
25 - PM 4
26 - PM 5
27 - PM 6 - Epc Spell Mummy Dust
28 - PM 7
29 - PM 8
30 - PM 9 - Epic Spell Dragon Knight
So I have 2 available feats to choose. I had ofiginally taken quicken spell but I rarely cast magic when not hasted so quicken is not necessary. Also had rapid reload for my crossbow (yes, it was my first character, wink wink) but for obvious reasons, he doesn't need that anymore.
Is there anything I am missing? I would have liked to have had the 10th level of PM but I cannot fit it in as there are 21 levels of Wiz needed. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I was under the idea that you no longer needed 10 levels of SD to access the level 10 shop? Figured you were rebuilding and had all the level 10 gear anyways?

Swallow the Stars wrote: tundrawalker1 wrote: Hi gang.
1 - Wiz 1 - summon familiar, scribe scroll, weap prof wiz 2 - Wiz 2 3 - Wiz 3 - Spell Focus: Necromancy 4 - Wiz 4 5 - Wiz 5 - Extend Spell 6 - Wiz 6 - Greater Spell Focus: Necromancy 7 - Wiz 7 8 - Wiz 8 9 - Wiz 9 - Craft Wand 10 - Wiz 10 - Maximize Spell 11 - Wiz 11 12 - Wiz 12 - Empower Spell 13 - Wiz 13 14 - Wiz 14 15 - Wiz 15 - Spell Focus: Conjuration, ________________ 16 - Wiz 16 17 - Wiz 17 18 - Wiz 18 - _____________________ 19 - Wiz 19 20 - Wiz 20 - Greater Spell Focus: Conjuration 21 - Wiz 21 - Epic Spell Focus: Necromancy 22 - PM 1 23 - PM 2 24 - PM 3 - Epic Spell Focus: Conjuration 25 - PM 4 26 - PM 5 27 - PM 6 - Epc Spell Mummy Dust 28 - PM 7 29 - PM 8 30 - PM 9 - Epic Spell Dragon Knight
Thanks! Why not got PM 10?
It is written right in the posting. Here it is again:
In order for him to be able to take any Epic Spells, he needs to be Wiz 21
Now if that were not the case, PM 10 would be golden

The levels he is taking the Epic Spells are the "every third level you get a feat" level so I don't think it matters what class you are when you take a feat every third level. But I could be wrong.
The nerfing is probably from taking Epic Spell Mummy Dust but that feat is a must. He has to have those feats (Epic Spell Focus Necromancy and ESMD) for RP purposes.

I'm pretty sure that a PM can still take Epic Spells, no matter than number of PM levels taken.

My own question: is Winterwight, crit immunity, and oogles of AC worth having a 10 CL?

Let's face it, you answered your own question by explaining it.
Yes.

20 Dodge 10 Base 20 Shield, Armor, Deflection, Natural 20 Dex, Armor Skin, Tumble, Plate and Tower = 70AC
A Gr. Smiters standard AB is around 48/49. Wrath gives 5 more for boss bashing.
Do you think it's worth Maxing Charisma to 18(20Subrace), and take all Greater Smite feats possible? Or should i pick Natural armor, and Wepon Focus?

No, no, no, absolutely not and I speak from experience because I had a years long character that actually did it.
It's not worth it and it will never be worth it until at least one school actually benefits from having Palemaster levels.

Dev critting archer, for kicks.
Thinking something along the lines of 10 fighter/20 AA start with 20 str from wood elf probably 16 dex. Take the first five ability points in str, the rest in dex. AB from AA will keep his AB up to par.
Ideas? I realize that this build will fail in a few ways, but I just want to dev crit -one- guy with a bow.

So a Wizard 20/PM 10 focused on his PM summons wont be on par with most?

A Str-based bard has 6 epic feats - and no, he does not have, nor will he have, Dev Crit. So far, I have planned:
Epic Weapon Focus
Epic Weapon Specialization
Lingering Song
Great Strength I
Epic Skill Focus Perform
Epic Skill Focus Discipline
Epic Skill Focus Taunt**
Now, here's my question: Do I switch Epic Skill Focus Taunt with Epic Fortitude? I want to be able to use the skill definitively and repeatedly. Whatcha think?

I would, personally. From what I've seen, there's not a bunch of 'middling' Concentration scores. You should be able to beat the 0s or the 33s, or even the 40-50 folks, if I'm making a good estimate at your Taunt skill without epic skill focus.
Any higher than that is probably a mage, who you'd be better off trying to nuke down quickly. I'd consider Armorskin or epic Prowess as well.
Replace Lingering song with Lasting Inspiration.

Just a quick question, does Epic Skill Focus stack with the lesser Skill Focuses?

Taunt is nice to have, but you don't really need it in the epic levels.
It only lasts 5 rounds and flatfoots you while attempting to taunt.
I'd go for fortitude if I were you.

That is all currently, though getting the extra castings of improved invis and darkness is really needed for any non-sd sneaker.
Mind you we are looking into extending the line of juciness assassins get.

Hey, Bobo - thanks for the help. I really appreciate it.
Let's see. Taunt 33, +9 from Charisma, +8 from Bardsong = 51. Epic Skill focus would put me at 61. Yeah, I think I agree with you.
Secondly, Armorskin is something I totally forgot about. I'll nab that now, thanks.
Third - Lasting Inspiration is totally what I meant. >.<;
Thanks for the help!

don't forget curse song. that lowers their concentration as much as regular song increases your taunt.
how easy is it to (turn/dispel/whatever to get rid of) a winter wight, and how often does that happen? PvM, PvP, and PvBoss?

Drop ESF Discipline and Taunt for Epic Fort and Armor Skin.
