I'm trying to hunt some Shadowscape lore but I'm not doing a good job of it. The wiki doesn't really explain too much, can anyone point me in the right direction?

The first three are probably a better bet than me: I got a nasty 3 year gap in my lore. But before thta, I can be helpful.

I can say with certainty, that in the 3 years you've been gone (I was a part of the server during the few months before you left), nothing except the installation of portal to Tarkuul has happened. I did my own research on that while I was on Staff, and came up with almost nothing save "to improve trade". So I doubt it's anything big enough to alter what you may already know, Tormak.

Well I find Zanshibon (Shadowscape = Zanshibon, right?) really interesting place for playing. But I feel like there is lack of some general info about area for me to actually get some better understanding of the place and trying to fit in.

So basically if I wanna know something I should PM someone mentioned above?

They are not the same. Zanshibon is in the Abyss, and Shadowscape is on the shadow plane. Two very separate places.

But I guess Zanshibon mysteries are still present... :D

EDIT: and I was even in Shadowscape *facepalm*

The Hitchhiker's Guide to Color Tokens

This explains it pretty well. You put characters between <___> and </c> and it changes the color of text. I haven't tried it with the job system, but I don't recall it working with it either. I know it doesn't work for mythal craft renaming, except for the little purpley thing you can do in chat, but that tends to mess up stuff. Most of the time, you wanna use color tags for item names and descriptions you make in the palette. But even that doesn't work all the time, it seems, or at least not for the pretty blue I wanted... reminds me, I should try again.

From NWNwiki:

<cþ >Red</c> -> Red
<c þ>Blue</c> -> Blue
<cþf >Orange</c> -> Orange

So if you wanted to call your item Red Book of Red Things, you should put into the shout channel js_j name <cþ >Red Book of Red Things</c> when you're scribing. Again, I haven't tried color tags with the Job System but I will in a bit I guess.

Edit: I tried it, and it didn't work for me. The color tags with spaces in them are weird. Ones that don't have spaces at least change the color of text in the typing box for a second, but it comes out as white when you enter it. For naming items, it doesn't work it seems. I think it has to do with how it automatically sets job system item color to orange. I don't know, I've heard of other people able to do colors with job system stuff. It may just be something I'm missing.

How does one become a citizen in any city?

EDIT: news from Winya caught my eye - elections? Can I vote with my elven character? Is the character automatically citizen? Or are there any requirements? And what about humans and all those towns on Amia?

In Winya Ravana, if you are an elf or Seelie fey, you become a citizen by saying that you're a citizen. The customary procedure is to enter your name in the Temple's census register, but even that's just a formality. The First Law of the City is that "citizenship is the right of any elf or fey-kind at peace with the City and the Seldarine." There's no requirement for any civil bureaucratic hoop-jumping. If you're an elf or fey, you were born a citizen of Winya. All you have to do is show up and claim your birthright.

(And therefore yes, if your elf genuinely feels properly informed enough about the issues and candidates to vote in the elections, go for it!)

Thank you. Not sure how my elf feels, gotta ask him soon. He is a bit weird even for an elf.

Other question - is there some sort of test version of Amia, which I could open in toolset and look for example on available hobgoblin/kobold/summon models etc.? For example if I want to post request for re-skin of summon, can I look for that model in advance? :)

I believe that when that's been asked before, the Powers That Be have been reluctant to let all of Amia's unique scripts and codes and custom stuff get out into the wild, beyond their control. So no, there's no distributable test module that I know of.

You can create a new module, use the amia haks and tlk file and save it to just look at models.

Liz: when I played on different server, they had this... and that module was without their unique scripts... so it can be done. It was used to exactly that purpose I'm asking about.

Anatida: yeah, I guess I'll try that

Do we have any turbans (or other oriental headgear) in game?
Some head models have a built-in turban or fez, but I'd rather choose a hat matching my head than vice versa ...

I couldn't find something suitable in the helmets or robes, but maybe there's a VFX or other trick?

Thanks

Do "Material: Mithral", "Quality: Excellent", and "Weight Reduction: 20% of Weight" count as magical powers for purposes of mythalling?

It was a mundanely crafted Tower Shield, so I'm not sure why weight reduction would count towards magical properties.

In the mythal crafting system weight reduction counts as a power.

BTW while we're on the topic of mythals and crafting - "Personalizing item" means what? I am too afraid to choose the option. :mrgreen:

You can rename the item to whatever you choose. Does not take up any mythal slots.

Can you use the Temporal Essence more than ones? Like, if you get it via the quest, use it, then buy another from a player; can you use the one you bought from the player?

I don't think it can be traded between players. Once you put it on an item, I'm not sure, but I doubt the item is locked to you so it could be traded. Having it on more than one of your items is pointless, however, as energy/damage reduction from items does not stack.

They can be traded, I know someone gave one of their char's TE's away to someone else.

However having it on multiple things is good for gear swapouts, if you have different sents.

You can (Mechanically) MG any two handed weapon. It's whether or not it's logically plausible that remains to be seen.

Wasn't sure if there was a animation limitation or something. Like how you can't off-hand certain weapons that don't have a off-hand animation. Soo, yeah!

It will cut a lot, as in, a hell of a lot, but it works out in terms of mechanics, just not so much the aesthetics.

MG doesn't change the animation of the weapon you're using, so you'll animate exactly as you did before, there'll just be a shield stuck on your arm too. It can frequently look strange and awkward, particularly with polearms. Using ACP can help with that somewhat I've found, particularly the Barbarian one or, if you use a Small/Medium shield, the Kensai one.

It is gone! You can just ask a DM to give it to you IG once your character met the requirements. Or you can seek out a bard and learn it via rp too and then ask the DM!

A lot of species unknown to my Toolset inhabit Amia, such as the yeti and different breeds of Doge. Where can I see those?

Why do characters get 'War Knight' tags in their character names? Do they serve as an OOC reminder that characters should know they are one? I had the previous impression that it served no purpose at all, but the more I see them pop up I'm beginning to second-guess that impression. Why is it a thing?

The way one of the characters kind of explained it to me was that they wear their insignia proudly upon their uniforms, so you would know they are a warknight on sight.. I am not sure if this is exactly how it is supposed to work. I suppose the same question could be applied to Doomguides.

It's a faction tag. I remember there being some controversy about it, some saying it stymies game immersion, others that it's a form of on-street marketing, like walking billboards. When I played a character in the Eternal Order, I removed the name tag because there were instances when other characters caused mayhem dressed as the EO. Even though I trust people to RP it accordingly--to point their fingers at the EO, despite the lack of the earmark readily exposing the impersonator OOC--I'm still convinced that the less the player herself knows, the better the experience.

On the claim of them being plain insignias, you could easily write that into the character description.

It is up to player discretion if they want a faction tag or not, contrary to what players might say about it being a requirement. We're not going to force PCs to 'always' wear their WK insignias, because that's just silly. It's just something special for members of certain factions.
