Cleric with 3 attacks is just fine imho if you cant or don't want to fit in those full bab classes pre-epic. 28 cleric 1 ranger 1 rogue/monk/bard fits the bill just fine. Epic caster/spells/spotter and some ranged weapon with zen archery. Throwing axes are cool.

25 cleric 4 fighter 1 rogue to have EWS for your ranged weapon.
23 cleric 6 fighter 1 rogue works too if you want 4 attacks

I'm thinking of remaking my 29cleric/1bard from mainly STR based to mainly WIS based, he will then be a caster cleric and I'll go for high spot.

The idear is: minimun 25 cleric lvls, first and foremost WIS based, then a caster (evocation/conjuration), then a spotter, then (if its possible) a decend ranger damage dealer.

Easy. Take Maximise (or Empower), Extend, Zen Archery and spell focuses. You can't take spot as a Bard or Cleric, so you're either going with Listen or tossing in a Spot skill class in there. There are better cleric setups for a Zen-based, mind, like hendrack's listed.

This sounds just about right.

Whats the verdict on divine shield/might these days?
In the heat of battle I admit my melee cleric has rarely time for divine favour, divine power and then divine might or shield.
They are great feats I know, but they come at a very high price: 3 feats, points in CHA and on items aswell.
Is it worth is for a feat strapped, ranged attacking caster cleric?

Alright, so for the sneak, 13 rogue/17 assassin will be the way to go. I know it will be an epic dodger, but what about spot? should I try for a spotter as well?

And the gnome wizard will be the way to go. Now just to figure out the levelling. I'm thinking mostly wizard levels with a rogue, or even a bard for disc dump?

If your end WIS is about 36 you have solid spell DC and have a bit of room for a point in CHA here or there, with +12 CHA from item/buffs you have something about 7-10 CHA modifier. Divine might is an option to have some really nasty dmg with EWS. I'd say make a char in single and level it up, you see best what suits you.

Divine might is great on a Divine archer. Definitely take if you can spare the points. Arrow damage is lackluster unless you have lots of rogue (which you dont) or AA levels/arrows (the latter of which is also recommend. Just a sprinkling though. No need diluting your Divine-ness.

And a Wizard is only good if its got enough Wizard levels. 21 isn't enough.

The top five AA builds I've played, played with or played against are:

28 Cleric 1 Bard 1 AA Zen Archering Caster Cleric.
21 Cleric 2 Bard 7 AA Dex/Cha Cleric (Ridiculous AC aswell as the mentioned damage and AB)
10(9)Monk 1(2)Wizard 19 AA
18 AA 10 Fighter 2 Bard
17 Rogue 2 Bard 11 AA

I don't rate the Bard/AA at all since running in and cursing and running back out to shoot is counter-intuitive, thus doesn't even rate an honorable mention in my book.

Here's some AA builds mosh posted ages back. Took me some digging to find the post. Found em on page 36

Thx Svensk, I actually too dug back to that page, thats why I posted the 28/1/1 build that sounded most interesting for my cleric.
But maybe that build is too smelly to be posted here, dunno..
As for weapon of choice: I guess it would be longbow.

the 28/1/1 is no longer beneficial for an Cleric Archer, In my eyes, Since you no longer get the Extra attack from Divine power.

I wouldn't call Cleric23/AA5/Bard2 a bad trade, either. That's an extra attack and three points more AB and damage compared to the more clericy way, not to forget the earlier Tumble/UMD dump and a teensy bit better saves. I wouldn't say it's better, as it loses a good deal of spell power and an epic feat, but nonetheless works well.

I wouldn't precisely go for an Epic Evocater Cleric on that Setup, It's more a Buff up - Dish our Sick amount of damage build.

And why? There's no difference between DEX and WIS damage wise. DEX gets you some AC, but you'll run around in full plate anyhow, probably. WIS gets you spell DC so its a natural superb evoker. If you have WIS, go for spells too.

I had that precise build above and I bit my ass because I did not go for epic spell focus and stuff.

Bard means you get access to breaching and mords scrolls. That build will work.

AA/Monk/Wizard still walks all over it.

If I make my caster cleric, which will mainly focus on WIS and evocation, is the three automatic quicken spell worth it? I could have room for them.

No haste is better because it doesn't require feats.

If you get hit by Mords, more then just haste goes, its the least of your worries. You lose what is it like 3 or 4 feats to do Autoquicken? I'd take 4 feats anyday of the damn week.

As Pidge said least of your concerns because mords will annihilate a-lot of other stuff aswell.

Has Blinding Speed feat been modded? I recall a discussion about adding +10% movement boost to it and decreasing the Dex Req to 15, but searching the announcements I do not find any reference. Was thinking about it for a PC of mine but the 1/day haste for 10 rounds just isn't spiffy enough.

My rule of thumb for PvP is two hours, two rounds. Autoquicken trumps Haste because it's permanent and lets you do two more things than the other party in that two rounds. Even more so for a non-AC caster.

Of course, every time you've managed to sneak Haste in, it is indeed redundant, and any four feats are better than Redundant.

That said, a pretty good compromise is Quicken; cast Haste and one more thing on that and you get your AC and one more action than a standard cast-Haste-first chap.

I still want to know just how useful parry is.. I heard the mechanics of it are.. messed up or something. They don't work as they should.

I hope that clarifies enough. but the base suckage in parry relies in the fact that it blocks only the 1st in the "flurry". So it won't suck against wizards and clerics...if they are stupid enough to head into melee with only 2-3 attacks per round, and not like, I don't know, use spells?
details that if you need as much attacks per round as you can counter, I don't know.
I've thought about a theory that this could be useful against melee shadowdancers, but not sure at all.

Well. Go Monk with Parry and APR ain't an issue. Add in Epic Dodge and their nice AC and you're set. Of course, your Riposte attacks could go nowhere. But you could use the parry for defensive, RP purposes.

So... eventually I need to rebuild Tyrus as I made some mistakes with feats and skills, but also due to RP moving him in certain directions.
I have been calcing up a new build for him that will go in much the same direction that he is currently in, just more emphasis on certain areas. Basically trying to put more emphasis on his stealthy build and his role as an agent of vengeance for Hoar. So I figure things like Knockdown and (E)SF: Hide/MS would be nice to add. His stats are more RP balanced, as he is not highly intelligent but he is fairly smart and both dexterous and strong.

I didn't much care about the placement of feats and skills, just cause I plan to do a freebie rebuild. So that makes it easier to spread things out than with a self rebuild. What I really need to know is if there is anything I am missing out on that would be good. And I know, he's focusing in Bastard Sword and Kukri. Crazy, yeah, but the kukri is used only when exacting revenge of some sort for someone. In fact, the plan is to have a completely separate set of gear for him in that capacity. Secrets and all, Tyrus is good with having them. I -might- go more Rogue heavy, to get more SA dmg, but that would cut out some of the feats :/

ok, didnt read your whole post but two things springs to mind:
You pay 2 points on for instance going from 15 to 16 in STR at creation. If you going to take +1 INT at lvl 28, you might aswell pay the 1 point getting that at creation, so you get one point to use for another thing and can take you last STR point at lvl 28 if you want.
You could get one more BAB holding the two last SD lvls taking fighters instead, just grab KD and IMPKD on them if you want.

Bah I forgot to mention two things:

1) His race is Tuigan, so the starting STR and DEX is actually 15 and 16, respectively

2) That's a good point on the INT. I had not considered the point costs and such

...I have to admit, that build made me cry a little. First off, start with Rogue, not Fighter, or you're screwing yourself out of skill points for no reason. You have Blind-Fight listed twice, you don't need more than 13 DEX on that build, and Weapon Finesse does absolutely nothing for you. You're majorly STR-based so your Hide/MS is only going to be able to hide from those with no or little detection skill points invested, so any feats focusing in Hide/MS are going to be a total waste for you. Drop all of them, and the feats you were taking for Skill Focus Hide/MS pre-epic for IKD, rather than wasting all that in epic levels.

Tweak your starting stats for 14 INT right off, don't waste a stat point that could be used for STR. Quite honestly, with the build you have, you might as well just make a Dev Crit HiPS user. Tuigan makes it easy.

Also, 14 Fighter/10 Rogue/6 SD is better I guess, though I don't like recommending bare minimum SD builds.

Helpful Svensk
Your build:

Either choose dexterity or strength to focus in. Because you chose Tuigan obviously your only option is Strength.

Either choose Kukri or Bastard Sword. Dual weapon foci just seems inanely pointless since its almost a guarantee you will always default to the cheese that is Kukri.

Don't piss about with dual-wielding feats on this character, your strength based so you will always default to using a large shield, and when HiPSing you can always use the dual-wielding bracers.

Take rogue at first level to net more skill points

Wow... I really need to check things before I post -.-
I wrote that and finalized the build at about 1-2am soo yeah lol

In any case, Blind Fight should have been listed just once. I believe I was moving it's placement for some reason or another.
The build is STR based, yes, but the benefit of the extra gear is that it is almost entirely DEX based.
I currently have that setup, where one set of gear emphasizes STR and the other DEX. With STR gear Tyrus is at 28 STR, I think, and with DEX it's in the 20s (though his STR is only 17, then). That is the reason for Weapon Finesse and for the use of kukris, as well.

I should probably mention that I am in no way trying to optimize the build. From the onset of Tyrus' concept and creation, I had a RPish goal in mind and this is part of the final product. What I am trying to create is a man with two 'lives', you could say. In one, he is seemingly your usual adventurer and a mercenary. The other, the skills and abilities he hides from everyone else, he is a stalker of injustice. I added Knockdown and IKD to emphasize that. His SD abilities are to not be used around those he does not trust, even.

Yeah, building such is going to gimp the build a bit, but I like having a more RP focused build that can still kick butt and take names. He'll be in PvP sometimes, but that is where the benefit of stealth comes in. Get in and strike before the target has a chance to react, Knockdown if can be, and waylay on them.

He wont kick butt. That is my point. Or he'll kick butt but everyone else will kick it better than he will.

I'm also confused because my WM/Fighter/Rogue Maxed out strength/dex and a chunk of con aswell as getting 30 - 40 Hide/MS and 39 fort.

I've come to find that people are just too lazy to mythal their stuff. They submit themselves to go with the third best thing, and most can't even be bothered to check the Mythal Crafting System page.

That's assuming I could get my hands on the right mythals to craft with. Not to mention having to put points into crafting as well.
Course, I do not know how much craft skill you need for the higher things.

Okay, so, how about this question (as no one has actually offered this option but it seems to be getting hinted at)
Would it be better to just focus more on STR and just not worry about the stealth penalties from armor and such? Just have DEX high enough to get certain feats and do not worry about it from that point out?

8 Feats is enough to get you the prerequisite for Dev.Crit in epic and dodge/Mobility for SD. It's a human after-all.

Then throw in 6 Fighter levels to get knockdown/imp.KD, Wep.Spec, and 16BaB in Pre-Epic.
2 more fighter levels in Epic to nail Epic.Wep.Spec.

Rest you fill out with rogue and SD.

Something like ... 4 Fighter/8Rogue/8SD Pre-Epic. Early Hips is nice to level with.
You don't really need Imp.Two Wep Fighting, Just grab the Ambidex and Two-Wep Fighting Gloves from Abyss and you're set.

Why do we keep talking about two weap fighting? o.o
I've seen two people mention it now. He's only going to fight with one weapon, and a shield possibly

Also, I'm not looking at going for the Dev Crit option for him, else I would have mentioned it :<

One thing that I also wanted to mention:
I've not been very impressed with (Epic) Weapon Spec. +6 dmg is okay and all... but it's just +6 (+12 if a crit hits). I dunno, just seems to be a bit of a waste, unless there is nothing else that is good left to take.

Its 6 damage. . .all day everyday. Remember people invest two feats for power attack and divine might for x divine damage that you have limited uses of. And anything with fighter levels can afford it.

My point is that trying to be two characters in one character will just equal half a character.

Weapon Finesse is still going to do nothing for you, btw. I recommend you reread the nwnwiki article on the feat.

ps: Epic Weapon Specialisation is freaking amazing.

Yeah, true I guess. I just don't see 6 dmg doing much in the grand scheme of things I suppose lol

Are you referring to not being able to Weap Finesse a bastard sword? Cause the Weap Finess is for when using kukri + DEX gear to boost up 25-30 DEX (and have only a 21ish STR).

Also, the reason for using a separate gear set was to essentially be 'in disguise' when on a private mission.
But, I do think that using just a different set of armor would suffice for that, if I went STR based, eh?

idk I just am trying to see how the concept will work. Tyrus doesn't -have- to be STR/DEX switching, it just made sense to me that way given that it was force/stealth. But if the gear is stealthy, that will aid a bunch in that.
SO perhaps I should just recalc for a STR based build for the concept and go from there?

Yup choose either strength or dex but not both.

There are some delicious dex based 10 SD builds out there.

*nods*
I was originally thinking of a DEX based build for Tyrus before making him, but realized it wouldn't work that well with using heavy plate lol

Sometimes its not just about laziness.
That page isnt correct I believe, and even if it is its still not very userfriendly.
Alot of people need a crafter to help them, and when they finally track one down, theres still all the questions of what can be done, whats good and so.
And then theres the whole concept of whats good here, lemme give you a brief example:

If I buff up my lvl 30 cleric he has (rough numbers):
AC: 55 (yet I hear thats low for a cleric here)
Discipline: 50 (yet I hear 70 is "standard" here)
Concentration: 55 (yet I hear 70 is "standard" here)
Spot (or listen): 60 (yet I hear 100 is "standard" here)
Fort save: 42 (ok I think)
Reflex save: 24 (should be around 15 higher)
Will save: 36 (ok I think/hope)

I guess its all about knowing the right people, knowing what gear can be achieved. Having 2-3 sets of different kinds and quickly swap around depending on the enemy.

When people say standard they mean fulll buffed full gear.

55 AC is low for a cleric because you should be sporting all your +5, haste, mage armor items, and possibly divine shield for close to 70.

Concentration: max ranks + epic conc gloves = 63 before anything else.

Spot: max ranks + alterness + 50 spot = 85 before wis and anything else

fort is fine, you only need about 40

reflex and will are the same as fort: They may not get used as much because dev crit doesn't run off reflex or will but when you need them you want them at the same height as fort. Thisis why everyone who buffs fort and lets reflex and will rot is doing it wrong.

55+4(haste)+1(magearmor)=60, so +10 from divine shield (well never bothered with those 3 feats and all the CHA needed, maybe fail)

epic conc gloves: never seen them, I guess I need to hang more around with the bosshunters (or be one myself *sighs*)

+50 spot: I see that here many times as if thats easy to get, wont it crumble most the gear if all of it has +5 spot each?

I have a monk with sweet svaings and also a warrior(CoT) but again, adding savings to the gear is at the cost of discipline and maybe STR/DEX, are we back to swapping around gear depending on the enemy?

So heres a question as I've seen this 70 AC Pop up a few times..

17 Fighter/7 WM/6 SD

Base AB : 25
Ability : 15
Weapon : 5
Epic/Focus : 3

Total = 48

What can that character do to hit someone with 70 AC (Outside of Truestrike Pots or FF Bonus from Hips) with 48+20 being only 68.

(All information is subject to being wrong, sadly, just a note)

Edit : I already considered higher WM Levels for Epic Superior, but the +2 AB Wasnt worth the extra feats from my perspective.

Yes.

Be a Paladin, Cleric, AA or Bard. That's about it. A WM with 19 WM levels, Epic Prowess, and 40 STR will have 53 AB assuming he has weapon focus, epic focus and 25 BAB. 52 is more likely with the 16 WM. That's still not going to hit 70 well. That's when you have to start slamming on Aid, Bless, Prayer, and battledrum stuff but good luck doing that in PvP. There's a reason all the WMs are carrying dispel stuff.

KD will also nuke their dodge, tumble, and DEX AC, which is what mage amror and haste is. If you can catch them lfat footed, same thing.
