Mine works fine with the updated ACP. Try re-equipping the cloak? Or maybe you have the wrong version of the ACP.

If I recall some of the ACP animations make the cloak disappear, but not all of them. So maybe your just noticing the difference now, using a different animation? Or was the cloak disappearing thing fixed and I never heard?

Well in Myk's case with the phenotype one, some people cited they could see the cloak, another player said they couldn't and I imagined the two were linked, so I figure there is a way to fix it

Can you drink a potion or use a restoration scroll, when affected by bigby's, to get out of it? I remember seeing someone do it when I was playing on my wizard many months ago, but now that I'm primarily a melee character player, bigby's is basically the #1 way casters fuck me over. Is there any defense/recovery from it?

If you're a rager, potion of lesser restoration will work.

Why only if I'm a rager? I am, but does that do something to the situation?

I'm guessing he means you can't use a (greater)Restoration scroll when Raging, so it's lesser Resto chuggo for you, m'laddie.

Yeah can't use scrolls when raging, though potions will work.

As for the Lesser Restore vs Bigby's, being that it was MY character that you did that to, let me explain:

I was told by someone, or so I thought that it can be eliminated with a lesser restore a while back. When you put my char in that situation that she -had- to defend herself, she tried it. It didn't work. The next round, you cast again... breaking the concentration check, and voila! No more Bigby's. So there you have it, the wizard broke his own Bigby's.

Sorry, but... hope that helps.

Oh, right. I vaguely remember now. (Though, how you remember the exact situation is beyond me o.o)

So there's no way to get out of it, other than hope that the wizard does something silly?

Mid-December of 2004. The oldest accounts start at the 14th of December, and the posts already show server activity in the week following that. I know that I started playing my drow wizard 'Phearnun' christmas break of 2004. So at the 14th of December this year, the server will have it's ten year anniversary.

I will officially have played on this server far too long, as well.

What's the rule regarding NPC raising?

It seems to be fairly inconsistent that some NPCs can be raised, such as cart drivers, but a majoruty can't, like nameless commoners or whatever.

Depends entirely on the NPCs and whether they want to be raised, whether it adversely effects a plot, etc.

Cam bards and sorcerers seek out and express latent dragon blood in requests without a special subrace or taking RDD, for visual features and personality connections? I suppose the question also goes for fiends, fey, and other distant magical outsider relatives too.

No, because when taking levels of RDD or any variant thereof, those visual features and personality connections are an inherent result of the rituals and changes undergone with levels in the RDD/other class.

On this, in the 3.5 players manual... the example sorcerer they use has strange features... I'll post a picture

Image

Let's note a few odd details...

* The caster's hands are clawed slightly
* The facial structure of this human is different from others almost elven like but certain features including the nose are too wide (and no knife ears)
* Unusual eye color. You'll notice his eyes are green, but not like a realistic green... they are kind of a neon light green. It's weird as shit.
* Notice how is hair texture is straight, yet it sticks up like he's in some kind of weird anime.

The example character is human.

Basically, the whole nature of sorcerer is that he gets powers from some sort of ancestral bloodline. Whether it be dragons, fey, demons, celestials, undead, elemental... etc. These powers however should be rare and typically hard to control. There is no study involved just raw talent and often times sorcerous powers are discovered at a young age. While it does have a lot to do with their bloodline, they are not a different race, and they certainly shouldn't be displaying very drastic features such as Wings, smell of brim stone, looking ugly as sin, horns, etc...

Things like RDD and being Half-fiend/Tiefling/Whatever have very drastic and prominent appearences/signs including the things like horns etc. I'd see it as being very likely for a sorcerer to have an odd but very benign trait like clawed hands, strange facial structure, and or odd eye color. These are features that are completely and totally benign and contribute absolutely nothing major, where as a Dragon Disciple, or Half-dragon has working wings, scales all over their skin, and a breath weapon. So I would imagine you could have a very very very very tiny miniscule barely important features such as slightly clawed hands, and a somewhat odd eye color...

Side Note:

This guy is pretty freaky looking for a charisma based character. I wouldn't trust him with anything. Just a funny observation :P

Would it make any mechanical (pnp mechanics, not NwN engine mechanics) sense if the following happened, or is it completely stupid/out of left field:

Frugdar sees a hydra.
Frugdar hires/finds a friendly ranger who specializes in taming exotic and/or gigantic, feral beasts.
Frugdar finds a wizard focusing, to some degree, in enchanting magic.
Through any combination of Frugdar brute-force getting the hydra to submit (and possibly scaring it with his rage), the ranger trying to tame it through elaborate rituals or animal speak or ranger-magic-stuff, and the wizard enchanting it to be at least tolerable and not mindlessly bloodthirsty, would it even be possible for a hydra to become rideable? Like, could Frugdar become Amia's first hydra-riding Uthgardt, and start the Hydra tribe? I'm not asking if it's possible for a request, that is something I will ask DM's in later days. I'm asking if you can do it in pnp with any abstractly large amount of resources, sans divine intervention.

I'm assuming if it were possible and/or allowed, I'd simply have some sort of bottled companion mini-hydra that Frugdar RP's as being riding, or some silly shit like that. I mean, since the ride skill is like, not used mechanically on Amia.

Unlikely.

Possible but very unlikely because I really don't want to see three hydra-riders, a dragon rider, two unicorn riders etc. etc.

Which means getting one will be extremely hard if it's up to me.

Nope, as long as they're within range of a sufficiently large shadow they can jump, so if you're clever you can shift the shadows around objects to suit your needs.

Alright they told me when you hit them with light it gets rid of any shadow when they get near it

Technically true, but a canny shadow dancer can just use the light to make their own, new, shadows.

Light source makes it harder to hide and prevents immersion in shadow - so they can't Shadowjump, but they can still HiPS pretty much by being near an object which casts a shadow half their size. This is easily countered by casting Darkness and then Shadowjumping, although there are some tricks which prevent that.

If you want to basically wipe out Shadowdancer abilities you'd need a relatively small area and then fill it with light sources, enough to drown shadows at every angle. Mirrors help. Shadowdancers need line-of-effect (but not necessarily Line of Sight), which is why standing on a roof in noonday sun they can't do their tricks, even though theoretically there is a shadow right under the roof. At least, this is my understanding.

Looking into the HiPS thing, to look up the actual modifiers (light on the HiPS-er would give them a -10 hide, essentially, but still allow HiPS since it's actually manipulating the shadow, rather than simply putting themself within it) leads me to two other questions.

Additional modifiers
+10 DC if the spotter is in combat.
+5 DC if the target is standing still.
-5 DC if the spotter is standing still.
Size modifiers (tiny: +8, small: +4, medium: 0, large: -4, huge: -8).
Area spot check modifiers.
+5 DC for stealthed players (only), if they are in the back arc.
+5 DC at night if the spotter does not have a light (or darkvision).
-10 DC at night if the target has a light on them.

Are the area modifiers a thing the developers actually use in areas? I can imagine it's much easier to hide in a dark underground cavern or on the shadowplane. But the areas right next to posted guards, or regularly patrolled (like, say... Bendir Dale) should be much harder to hide in.

Also, does the -10 Spot DC for a hider with a light one them (which only applies at night apparently) apply in dark underground areas too? Or does the day/night thing still matter? It seems silly if it does, but NWN is often quite silly.

DM question:

Quote:
It is completely meta. The hostiling system is completely OOC and I have been in the habit of hostiling known enemies immediately on login to avoid metagaming in the past.

There is nothing IC about the PvP tool or the dislike button.

Is this correct? I swear I have seen DMs in the past state that hostiling someone is IC because you are actually taking a hostile stance towards them. Yes, the tool is OOC but you don't hostile someone unless you are intending to engage in hostile actions with them.

So yeah, is it fair game to consider being hostiled an IC action?

If I turn red for any reason and you start buffering, I just start smacking. Th a being said if slmeone stats buffing when I'm around and I think I' the intended target, expect the same treatment.

I also tend to hostile people to keep them from porting out of a situation where my character would attack them for grabbing a wand.

Ayup. The fact that I have someone hostiled does not necessarily mean the character I am playing is actively attempting to attack them at the moment. I have gone trough entire resets with necromancers hostiled even when the EO was not out to hunt them. Most of these people were awesome and not prone to metagaming in the first place (got to love the villain players of old), but it was still a good way to avoid any OOC disputes about who metagamed and what if things got confusing at any point.

Even if there is a DM ruling to that effect, I am going to call bullshit. You can click hostile button and never even enter the same area as the hostiled character.

Is there a trick to getting the magic staff appearances to work? They seem to work and not work sporadically in the broken crafting menu. The players I have asked about this so far just tell me there are weird combinations to get it to work, but you can only swap some parts whilst in certain color numbers. Even when I've tried this they get stuck on different appearances. What should I do?
