Bane of Enemies only affects physical attacks, if that's what you're asking.

The 1000HP Barbarian...

How crippled would it become if I attempted to make it a Dual-wielder?

7 feats, Pre-Epic. (since it's either dwarf or Half-orc)

#1 Power attack, #2 Thoughtness, #3 Improved Critical, #4 Wep.Focus, #5 Blind fight, #6 Two-Wep Fighting, #7 ambidexterity.

Darn... it won't work...

Edit - And on a Human, it only get like .. 900Hp. It doesn't get the 1337 feeling ...

half-orcs don't receive bonuses to con, unless going to subraces, but I don't think they receive enough to make up for the 1-2 less levels

The only difference is that the Barb can kill something. Glothar's just a tank with a broken cannon.

I knew that >.> <.<

Which reminds me Svesnk its actually 6cha on the dwarf and half-orc and actually on the dwarf you can do it and get full ranks in Discipline, Intimidate, Tumble and UMD with 4 points left over. 'tis the reason Dwarves make the best Barbs.

Alternately rather than taking Epic Weapon Focus you could grab great strength 1 and nab +1AB/+1 Damage.

He means he's the one who originally asked for the ressurection of the 1k HP build and wanted to do it "first".

Between 25/4/1 Ranger/Fighter/Rogue,
And Pure 30 Ranger.

But, A ranger will run around in light armour anyway, Since it would loose two-Wep proficiency and all those ambi-dex feats...

If we look at the pet then, Can you promise any ... Happy surprises if one attempts to pure?

Yeah, I mean.. Technically, That pet would be near to Immortal.

So pretty much a shift of strength from Master to Pet, I'd even say the 30 Ranger "Could" be better...

It hurts I'll tell you straight off. I'm going 30 ranger despite all that but I admit I've continued to harbor thoughts of rebuilding to 25/4/1 every time he ends up dead because of all he's lacking.

One of the reasons I keep sticking to pure is I want to see how beefy a 30th level Badger companion ends up being. Plus I've always wanted to do a pure class just because. Two levels to go........

Give me a Beep In-game Maglorine, I've got a ton of Chars that can help you with those pesky levels... I know how much it hurts to go Pure.

I've done 30 Fighter. :!:

Edit - This doesn't include shitty wizards or clerics .. they can go as pure as they want, and still rock.

How feasible is a character who relies 'entirely' on summons to do combat for her? And what would be the best way of going about it?

I guess I'm wondering how to build a character who has the best summons in the game. But there don't seem to be many feat/class features/etc that really affect summoning all that much.

All I've come up with so far, is a cleric with the animal domain, to get the +2 STR +2 CON +1 AC. Take EMD and EDK with epic spell focus Conjuration.

Basically go pure cleric, prep mostly buffs and heals, and tend to your summons in combat, as well as other party members.

I see it as viable in PVE, but not so much in PVP.

Is there a better way to go about making a 'pure summoner'?

Druid is the best bet if you don't want to bring your character to any danger. Of course it'd be more effective if you actually did something yourself, but buffing the fuzzy friends and chilling in the background works.

Thats right! Druids get animal companion, which can be out in 'addition' to a single summon from a spell, right?

Also, for 'minimal' participation, was thinking about taking Zen Archery and maxing WIS. Hang back and use a bow.

You don't have to post three times in a row. Just edit your first post.

Anyway, yeah, the druid version of Summon Monster works just as well.

Pick up Extend. Pick up Maximize. Pick up Zen archery and Spell focus/greater spell focus Evocation AND Conjuration. That will make you soooo scary when you drink a haste pot and start spamming Sov + EQ + Bombardment.

Yes. Animal Companions are apart from Summons are apart from Familiars. You can have a Summon, a Companion, and a Familiar out all at the same time, if you have the classes. Have fun.

Snape75 wrote:

I assume you mean Summon Planar Ally, as in the Planar Binding series as well. Simple answer, yes. But as with any summon, there's a situation and a time when some shine better than others. Find a Conjurer IC and decide for yourself.

Snape75 wrote:

You have to(or should) do something or another while your summons are attacking, if you're going with a WIS-based caster class, (cleric or druid), Zen Archery is an excellent choice. Rather than ration out your spells all the time(which leads to running out and having to rest sooner), hang back with a decent bow and decent arrows and peg away. As well, leaves more of your slots for buffing your summons.

And my personal opinion, Druids are the better class for summoning. Sure, Animal Domain cleric gets some bonus damage to their animal summons from their Prayer, but Druids have Animal Companion and arguably better better suited for summons anyway.

Druids are awesome summoners. Though if you want to be among the cool kids, you use throwing axes instead of a bow.

No, the cool druids use slings or darts.

The wanky druids use anything else.

Are you going to make a wanky druid?

Also snape Mosh Suggests you try the Double Dragon Build. Its quite lovely.

For the ultimate hangback druid you must have UMD. It's such a bonus to your little gang to have a healthy 50% concealment from Imp Invis scrolls/wands. Personally I'd go Druid29/Bard1, grab Evocation focuses and Zen, and invest in some Heal as a precaution.Conjuration is not a bad idea either as it will grant you more spell DC to some very nifty spells such as the Stonehold, Mass Heal and Storm of Vengeance.

And if you wonder about which summon to pick, ESF Conjuration would also expand the duration of EDK from rounds to turns. The dragon is awfully handy at places like the Abyss, and anywhere it has a larger base to move in, but most of the time you end up substituting it with a smaller summon. The bastard is simply too fat.

Chwis is right. You'll most likely find the STR to use light throwing weapons. This is often the way to get a better DPS (damage per second) as well as a chunkier AC score. Double dragon is more effective in PvM than loitering behind the summons with your puny sling, but if direct combat doesn't fit your character, then going ranged is all right.

Oye, axes are more fun. Especially when you make one that has a long beard and blames the youth for everything that is wrong in the world.

But I suppose sling and darts are more within the druidic oaths and you won't need to multiclass to use them *mumble grumble*

Well it was double dragon but now I suppose it could be 1 Dragon 1 Air Elemental/Sirrush 1 Companion.

Ffolk and Mulan are the only subraces that fit it however. And since I've been asked for the build numerous times here it is.

The Mulan dieties of nature you can choose from easily (I'm not saying you have to choose them):
Isis, Anhur, Osiris
or Kossuth if your Thayan

Ffolk i believe generally venerate Chauntea whom they call the Earth Mother.

Hum... can a wizard use the parry mode while casting spells? Like playing a drow with 32 SR, 80 spellcraft, 60 parry? Because that would be.. ugh..

Nope. Parry is a combat mode, so casting a spell should switch it off ala Expertise.

Mulan Thayan Kossuthian sounds like fun :D

I have two quick questions though.

1) Why take Maximize Spell?

2) Why take ESF Evocation?

From looking through the druid evoc. spells, I don't see many good save-or-suck spells. EQ and Bombardment don't do anything on a failed save except take full dmg instead of half.

EDIT: Ooooh, just looked up under 'modified spells' for Amia.

EQ can cause knockdown on a failed reflex save. I like. Still, why take maximize spell?

Svensk you truly prove your silliness (edit: and why I will never ever take build advice from you)

Obviously Druid 28 is at level 30.

*Sigh*

@Snape: actually I'm not entirely certain since you'll only maximise strength. Indeed Empower for your damage spells could possibly be better.

EMP. Fire Storm seems like the way to go (it occupies 9th lvl slot).

EDIT: Here's my own proposed build. As long as its viable, yeah? Mostly concerned with my feat selection. I'm thinking about trading out Point Blank Shot and Rapid Shot for Empower spell and Toughness. But I'm not sure.

Druid 1 Point Blank Shot
Druid 1 Rapid Shot
Druid 2
Druid 3 Zen Archery
Druid 4
Druid 5
Druid 6 SF Conj
Druid 7
Druid 8
Druid 9 GSF Conj
Druid 10
Druid 11
Druid 12 SF Evoc
Druid 13
Druid 14
Druid 15 GSF Evoc
Druid 16
Druid 17
Druid 18 Extend Spell
Druid 19
Bard 1
Druid 20 ESF Conj
Druid 21
Druid 22
Druid 23 Great Wisdom
Druid 24 Great Wisdom
Druid 25
Druid 26 Great Wisdom
Druid 27
Druid 28 EDK
Druid 29 EMD

I'd be inclined not to take two epic summon feats. Eventually the fact I couldn't profit from the both of them at the same time would disturb me.

Also, I don't get your point with taking Bard on level 20. It should be saved for level 27, 28, 29 or 30 to max your Disc, Tumble and UMD.

PBS and Rapid Shot can be gained from items. Having those items do hardly any harm to your overall gearset in PvM, so I'd think over that again. However, I'm not 100% sure about this, Chris might come to prove me wrong.

You are correct. Both feats can be gained, Easily, and on separate items through the game.

Yes, that I'm entirely sure of. What I'm doubtful about, however, is whether there's something better to wear instead.
