as long as thats kool, theres no was I can draw as good as that picture. plus I already seen altiar lol.
time it takes = make a 256X512 in paint, copy pasta, close, put in something better than paint, colourize etc make look nice, put in portraits, go into nwn any map any character, type "ConvertPortrait 001" was mine because 001.jpg don't add the .jpg. go to c? : nwn/portraits again and there will be 5 tga's, rar and email.
took me about 20/30 mins max, not counting google imaging for a quality pic, its not impossibly difficult.

It seems to be a Windows Photo Viewer error, since they open just fine with Paint, and show perfectly in the preview.

This is what I mean: When I see it in Windows Explorer (or open it with virtually any program) I see this:  When I double click it, which opens the file in Windows Photo Viewer, I get this:  This seems to only include the ones that only have one row or don't go to the edge.

looks squished to me, try screwing with fullscreen/minimize, and if that fails i guess find a free .jpg veiwer if such things exist.

how exactly do you install these once it is applied? I have yet to install the original portraits one let alone todays ? pack. whenever its ready no rush =) would rather not put it in the wrong folder and have to re-install again. also should I now remove the portrait I made from the portraits folder from when I converted?
ed, to tormak: whos joking, XP was better. if it didn't suck so much I wouldn't have said it. also I don't have spare grands to spend making it work right.

Just extract them to the override folder, and you'll be able to see them. And no, you don't need to remove any previous portraits

Can I make a suggestion as a new player?
It would be very helpful if this thread was Sticky-ed and also included in the "option downloads" area. Walking around the server the first couple of nights and not being able to see over half the character's portraits is very disheartening. If there could also be a notice in the new player section about creating custom portraits before making a character if they so choose, that would be nice as well, with a note saying that the only way to change your portrait after character creation is to do a complete rebuild. I might have done things differently had I known this.

I'm afraid you've been misinformed regarding changing your portrait, it's perfectly possible to change it whenever, but it requires DM assistance and there is typically a wait. One of the many things the Request Forum is for.

For some reason,one ended up on the SPAM folder but I have the habit to check it when there is something there and moved it back to my Inbox.
EDIT: By the way, next time send all four portraits in a single email, instead of one for each. Just make sure to add the names to the compressed files instead of the email subject.

The portrait pack, however, I will update sometime between the 1st and 5th of November.
You have a couple more days to send your portraits if you want them to be in November's pack.

So I missed a month of Amia because I was playing HoN, and ...
... There doesn't seem to be any way for someone to get individual months of updates without installing the full pack again.
This makes me sad.
