The banites are practically dead now. So the forum can probably be deleted. It is useless. There are no Banites anymore. Atleast, no active ones.

Nah there's Banites in game, not affiliated with the church though I don't think. Unless they're not really Banites but Cyricists in disguise! *gasps*

The Church of Bane forum is still there and the Underdark which I figure would be Drow forums...

I've been struggling to find the person I need to talk to to become part of the Church of Bane on Amia. I have some excellent ideas to get the faction fired up again.

I haven't seen ShortSlasher around in a while, probably because I'm never actually ingame anymore. He was a totally cool guy.

I did make a post at some point in game for people who wanted to take over the faction as leader. ShortSlasher kind of.. disappeared, like all previous faction leaders seem to of. I think there is a conspiracy. The DM's are hiring assassins to kill anyone who leads the Banites. I know it. I can give anyone forum access who needs it. Send me a PM or something.

I had meant to do something with the faction, but there isn't much to work with and after reading into the history of the faction and the uphill battle it would have, I got a bit discouraged. I also could not come up with a satisfactory way to introduce a character as a leader to my liking after the response they got from Zhentil Keep. On top of all that, things with my other characters intensified wonderfully and I can't devote the energy the faction would need to survive. Sorry guys, especially you Jim.

Heh...hiring an assassin to kill a Banite leader? Hell, I thought that is how you moved up in rank anyway...you know..the "Corporate Ladder Dagger" except we'd call it the Dagger of Banite Promotion. Its got a blade on both ends to while you are stabbing the person in front front of you, you get the one behind you also trying to do to you what you are doing to the one in front of you... heheheheh

No, as a Banite you are Loyal to your Superiors, you're not a backstabbing Drow house. Any attempt at assassinating your leader would be met with adequate punishment; Death and removal from the church as well as (for divine based) falling.. Or so I would believe! but dont quote me on that

Your PC is free to come from Zhentil Keep, but they wouldn't get sent there officially by the Church. If your PC is simply from there and has heard of this "horrible pathetic excuse for Bane's hand" and wants to fix it, go for it. I want to clarify here that the intent isn't to lock out the Banites from getting a new leader, it's just maintaining the roleplay between the mainland sect and the Amian sect.

Banites are such a hassle, plus it's not easy to make up a faction if theres nothing organized about it, and that doesnt come easy with ppl randomly juggling chars or living in different timezones.

Hi everyone,
I'm afraid this faction is doomed, the last breaths ever taken IC properly was when Octavia was Imperceptor. As of now, no one really find any comfort in being in a faction which is more or less dead and on top of that bans from areas and people chasing one down the roads. This may have changed, and if, I'm glad.. but Amia managed to chase me off for good I'm afraid, that or/and I simply found no excitement anymore.
I am not nagging, for I quit a while ago and I have no place really to put a personal emphasis to this, however it is some of what I wittnessed and heard from my once fellow Banites. We've been talking and all agree with these written words below as far as I know..
I thank all that has been with us, names are of no use since every single member of us has contributed in some way and made this faction live as long as it did. But I dare say, as one of the oldest members in this faction that even has Amia left in bookmarks.. that this faction is gone. Sadly, the banites are no more. The faction that once blossomed like a black rose with venemous thorns, has reached the last of its age span and is now dead. And we have had our twists with the DM's, the playerbase and so forth, but who hasn't.. right? =)
But this post isn't about what went wrong, it's about where the Banite faction blossomed, when it worked and was seen as we wished it be to seen.. where it actually was a breathing and lively form in the world of Amia. PC's talked about us, feared us and actually could use our name as a spice to RP. When the Amian community excelled and evil/good plots were as common as green grass.. that was when we were successful.
It was a great faction, we had fun together, talked in skype even at some points all of us.. there were few things that came close to the companionship we had in this faction and all the unforgettable moments. We were all friends at a point, a little twisted family of murderous tyranny-freaks who shared jokes and laughs along with anger and dissapointment.
I believe I speak for all Banites and has been's when I thank the Amia community for your awesome contributions to so many memories. The DM's, thank you for your help, I hardly think the faction would've lasted as long as it did without you guys. We thank the good guys and the neutral fellas' and factions for being our counter-weight, we've had many fun events together and I hope they arn't easily forgotten.
But where one fails, another shall prevail.. I hope someone takes the initiative to try once more, add contrast to the faction spectrum on Amia.

I'd just like to note that there was a rather large Banite crisis the other day. Not only that, but I believe there fore upwards of five Banites and/or cohorts on last night.
I don't think it's safe to say that the faction is dead, people just need to work to bring it alive again (and I think the first step is to start small and work in some secrecy, but I thin kit's too late for that hehe). I know I spoke with one player in particular that said they have revived their Banite and is working to reestablish things.
In fact.... one of my chars still needs to meet him.

I think what he's saying is that the Banites don't exist how they once did, and with the same goals. Not that that's a bad thing, it's just the beginning of a new era.
That said, there was a large (perhaps the largest) core of evil players in one place and doing many different things to involve the server in many plots.
There obviously is a new core group of evil players who've ruffled feathers since, some of which claim to be Banites. So, that's just how things progress.

In that respect, then, I completely agree! Changes are always good, even in a rigid-like structure such as the Church of Bane. If they have come back with a new approach then I'm glad. It's always good to see evil gaining ground.

There will always be character who shall follow Bane(including my own), but as Needled said, we do not exist anymore as we once did. THE Church went missing. We had a great run though. Church of Bane was one of the best if not the best RP experience I had since I came to Amia.
By His will and may He darken your path..

Isn't zenthil keep totally against operations on amia due to past failures? How does it make any sense making a zenthil faction then?

Svensk, he's saying if the players want it enough, they have to work for it. There will be no DM assistance in ressurecting this faction, yet again.

The Banites can always come back, but it just needs a competent leader to keep it alive, never give up so easily by making a post about how its dead but hey, it was a good run. That gives the impression that it can’t and will never come back, and if that’s the attitude you have towards it then you’ve already lost.
The problem with the Banites, as well as the problem with all other evil factions out there is they get easily discouraged. It was as plain as day when I was a Banite and I’m starting to see it resurface again in other evil characters, and they let those feelings translate into their character. “I can’t be evil because I get pwned by those paladins then they ALWAYS burn my body so I have to wait for a resurrection.” Then they forget about fighting good because they think nothing will change, the DMs are biased, Amia is no place for evil blah blah blah. Every explanation except for the truth, people play stupid evil. Now this is not directed at anyone in particular and I have seen people that play excellent, smart evil players. But this is the blunt truth in my eyes. Notice the same thing that happens whenever evil attacks a place, good rallies against them. Now lets look at what happens when good rallies against the Banites, a massacre. Evil needs to be smart and do what good does, forge alliances, plan and act accordingly. Not just gather your numbers, snap your fingers and attack a settlement “in the name of bane”. Because good will retaliate, with far larger numbers then one measly faction can muster. Then we have more discouraged players looking to jump ship to the good side so they can be the ones doing the pwning for a change, I mean who wants to be on the losing team forever right.
This is what led to the Banites eventual falling, unable to adapt, led by fanatics that read far too much into Bane’s teachings. And this is what is gonna happen to all evil factions until they get the thought of working together in their thick skulls. Evil fighting evil is just retarded, its like a hoard of mice quarreling while a cat is bearing down upon them. If they could just work together they could probably kill that damn cat once and for all.

What Draco said. That is exactly what I, and others, have said and it is the truth. There are no examples, and not everyone is guilty of all of it, but it's true. Evil that is not open is the best, typically.
Also, yes, the Banites need a strong leader, that's all. Octavia was awesome at it, from what I experienced and read/heard. That's all they really need again.

After all is said and done Darthion was an excelent leader. His ideas may have been a little far fetched some times and he had his faults but he was strong in personality and he stuck around for a fair while.
The Banites have had some excelent leaders in the past, I remember way back when the banites and zhents were one faction and actualy had a base in cordor. The factions has been hugely strong and faded away only to come back again. They just need (as already said) someone strong to step up to the breach and take the faction forward.

Think that was just a hat-tip to the fact that when PvP did happen, some people hated being killed all the time.

Not at all what I meant, I use it more as a general term but take from that what you will. Doesn't matter what word I use or how I phrase it the end meaning is the same. Evil is stuck hiding in the shadows because when they do act based on what they feel their character would do. Good always amasses some huge force to combat them, and guess what. They win the majority of the time. Believe it or not, that tends to be won in PVP. I'm not talking about powerbuilds, that all evil should do to get what they want is make a bunch of cheesy bard rrd pm builds. They need to think before they act, beat the good factions at their own game. If you attack Bendir Dale, you got Kohlingen stepping in, probably the Grove, Eilistraeens and so forth. No single evil faction can accomplish that on their own, you need allies. From my time in the Banites that is exactly what they were lacking. "Don't work with the Horsemen because of this, don't work with the Drow because of that." Just excuse after excuse that inevitably leads to another failed attempt in battle. This is not a PVP server but it's foolish to assume that PVP doesn't play a huge roll in the battle in good vs evil. But for successful PVP in these situations calls for a lot of RP beforehand. A military always has a plan of action and should weigh all of the outcomes of a battle before even thinking of attacking, and that goes double for the Banites. How would Bane feel if he saw his followers fumbling at every turn. Sometimes a silent battle is the most effective one, plan, organize, and execute.

Quote: Every explanation except for the truth, people play stupid evil. Quote: Evil fighting evil is just retarded Since when was roleplaying your deity properly "retarded"? Since when were stupid people the only people played Banites? And since when did people ever switch sides due to PvP? Rash overgeneralization and completely wrong in every case I can even think of.

I will use the slavers as an example then.. they attacked the same place over and over... took the same prisoners and made them as slaves over and over.. is that not a bit immersion breaking? "so and so was taken as a slave help!"... "Again... wasn't he caught two days ago?"... that is just one example.

Needled247 wrote: Since when was roleplaying your deity properly "retarded"? Cyricist vs Banites, sure there's a reason there. Banites vs all evil factions, excuse my choice of words but yes, extremely retardedNeedled247 wrote: Since when were stupid people the only people played Banites? Don't twist my words around. I was refering to evil as a whole but Banites are a prime example, there's smart ways to do things then there's the wrong way. Forcing every good person on the server to rally against you while you have absolutely nothing to fall back on. You can't tell me that is smart planning.Needled247 wrote: And since when did people ever switch sides due to PvP? Far more often then not I'm sorry to say, you've been here far longer than me so I find it hard to believe you haven't noticed that.Needled247 wrote: Rash overgeneralization and completely wrong in every case I can even think of. Your opinion vs mine is what that comes down to.
