I am 100% opposed to the reconstruction of Wyrmhold. It just won't be the same without Anaurichon.

It's like a band reforming and calling themselves their previous name without the original founding members.

Good thing your OOC opinion doesn't mean anything when it comes to pure IC actions.

And it's Aurichon.

I vote with Galenson on this one...I'd much rather see the NINE hells be brought into the Mod instead of Wrymhold...or other planar areas to go hunt on...

Although I've never been there, I've heard that the Nine Hells are somewhere in the module?

Are we still debating the original meaning of the topic? tehee

I don't think wyrmhold 'in it's current location' is going to work...but just my opinion.

Anyway looking at Tarkuul, if the city wanted to re-organize a little to include a safe/neutral-ground meeting place for the evil factions across Amia, I would be totally up for that...given it doesn't turn anyone away because of religion or rival evil factions ectectect. (as in all are invited to attend)

No, Amia has the Abyss, Arelith has Baator.

Tormak, chill out, you punk. Maybe you should re-post it one more time. Then people are going to curse your name to the skies again after that sweet apology you gave awhile ago.

Dunno, it could be because I'm not a native English speaker, but I read the original post asking "How many people would OOCly like Wyrmhold to be returned?", quite explicitly even.

Not that Tormak needs me to defend him, but when I read that I didn't see anything other than a bit of well placed zing which I'm sure aussies are use to flinging back and forth.

It was no worse than when Neky said earlier in the thread,"The amount of people OOCly wanting Wyrmhold to be rebuilt is not relevant. What happens ICly is relevant."

If Disco or Nekh had said it, I don't think you would have made issue of it, only because Tormak did.

I'm gonna leave it at that, because frankly I don't want to pollute this thread with furthering of that topic, but I did feel I had to say this.

People will curse my name to the skies because I tell them that if they want to ICly affect a roleplay world, their actions need to remain IC, and (o, in a world...) ideally, OOC wouldn't touch it at all?

I'll slow that down for a second.

You are bitching me out because I told players on a roleplaying server to cut the OOC and roleplay.

Just to be clear on this I'm sure everyone interest in the rebuilding effort now knows that there is no plan to build over the ruins, Drak may let people openly think there is, but thats just the right hand distracting. The plan is to build The Wyrms Nest (not even going to call it Wyrmhold) off Amia's coasts, a storm wracked isle surrounded by impassible waters and only accessible by air. Kinda like the citidal once used by the knights of Takissis in Dragonlance.

Hey, I'm a goody-two-shoes! Well, I'm thinking of making an evily too, but...

If folks really want Wyrmhold to come back, stop trying to convince the server and every DM opposed to it in the server on the forums. You just talking about it shows no initiative whatsoever other than just saying "we want this, so do it." If the folks really want Wyrmhold back, stop talking about it, and just start RPing it ingame.

If you get enough of a following, and enough people seriously RPing behind it, then designers, DMs, and everyone else won't have and option to ignore it, because IC is IC after all, and as Tormie-cakes was saying, OOC opinions shouldn't affect IC happenings...to a certain extent, at least.

That being said, think like an evil character would, -your- evil character who wants to revive the evil dragon land thingy. Are they -really- just gonna rebuild it on the spot where it was X years before? Are they -really- gonna just start constructing an evil settlement with a blessed dragon's skeleton in the middle?

Be smart about it. The old area known as Wyrmhold is probably lost at this point, both IC and by OOC favor. Be sneaky about it, keep it away from Pallies and bored epics, and eventually you'll at least have a chance to get what you're after.

I'm looking forward to some well thought-out Evil competition. 8)

My best advice then Ravenovf is just to keep on keepin' on. As you can see, the prospect of reviving Wyrmhold is toxic to a lot of people, and some DMs. All I can say is RP the mundane stuff with PC's until you get enough clout where DMs will help you out to rp such things as building a fortress, or digging up those draggie bones, or what have you.

"Talking" IC is good, yes, but maybe DMs would be more moved by seeing a group of evilies mining out a quarry for stone blocks for building a fortress?

Okay, first off I'm no newbie, I was DM infact I was an IMPORTANT DM in the DM team at one point I know how far RP can go, but I also know that DMs aren't around 24/7 that they appreciate having a heads up OCCly and that one has to work with other players and DMs as much ICly as OCCly we are all one community of RPers here and its better to give your fellow players a heads up about important stuff rather then just RP it and hope your lucky enough for a DM to be around when it happens.

of course, i did important stuff like tell drow to stop whining and abuse Crimisonist (and a few others) with Epic dragons when they was being a numbskulls.

Well in more serrious sense that i was head of Storylines (a head DM thank you kindly) but honnestly all the DMs do important jobs, goodness knows I can't script to save my life.

Scripting isnt in the DM's job description or else I'd be all over the place laughing at Crow all day long!

If a building is (re)build able its also destroyable! I'm sure those Buh-mutts are up for a fight?

so would this the same as the wyrmhold in the way it's run and the way it operates? (evil aligned half-dragons ect.) If so then this could be the answer to the original question.

Back to the emo drawing board. :(

As to Wyrmhold, I don't mind if someone tried rebuilding it. But just like some characters have a right to ICly attempt a rebuilding effort, other's have the right to ICly try stopping them.

Wyrmhold is evil and neutral, and it was never exclusive to Dragon and draconic beings, Tiamat has fallowers that come from nearly ever race in Fearun NOT JUST DRAGONS!

Eh, fully expect it, hence the huge rouse to keep eyes on the ruins while the real work is focused elsewhere.

Just a little frustration I had to get off my chest.. Not really directed to anyone in spicific.

I'd love to RP my Half-Dragon fully. However - I get this OOC hatred about people with Wings and "Oh no - not another Dragonkin". Even I've seen OOC hatred spoil over into IC hatred. Perhaps not hatred per see, but rather frustration from players that obviously is using their cognitive abilities to see a patern arrise on Amia that there are more Dragonkin. Which in fact is completely logical because Dragonkin 'flock' to places where there are Dragonkin present. Also, yes, Dragonkin - especially Chromatics that may be worshipping Tiamat have this Superior attitude and call races that they see below them 'Lessers'.

My character tried to resurrect the idea of an Flight on Amia. However, it seemed that this Flight was reduced to nothing but "Standing around Cordor calling people Lessers". I don't understand why the DM's did nothing with the Flight. Perhaps it's because the group didn't accomplish anything IC? I don't know... I mean, there were plans to resurrect Wyrmhold but DM's said no to that. Building something else, elsewhere wouldn't be achievable with so many Good factions/cities around and due to the fact the module was full. Now it's split, so I think it's time something is done with dragonkin.. because standing around Cordor waiting for confrontation is boring RP.

Being secretive about being a Tiamat worshipper isn't a challenging role either, because there's nothing to be secretive about. Elrein has been doing some plotting together with some other characters in-game. Which seems to parallel Drak'law's planning of having a new hub of evil which includes majority of dragonkin.

My question really is.. should I give up on this plot or is it remotely possible for this to happen without being cut down at the root before even growing a stump. I want to know what's possible for my character to do ingame.

Oh and Ravenovf, concidering you're from Canada and I'm from the Netherlands, it's going to be hard to come into contact with you IC. Because, truly.. our characters must meet together with some others.

Since most of your comment seemed to focus on this line, I'll only bother directly answering this part, as it'll answer all the others.

You can't expect the DMs to just jump in and start doing things for or with your faction. They have other things to do than try to contemplate plot focusing on your characters, then find them some time when they're all together, figure out a reason to interrupt with something, and then hope everyone's happy with it. If you want a DM to get involved in your faction, you need to ask. Come up with some ideas and ask the DMs if they'd be interested in helping out with them, and just because the DMs say no to one or two of them doesn't mean you should give up and assume you'll never get any DM activity.

I understand the possition of DM's well enough. I'm not asuming I'll never get DM support.. but c'mon. If I was a DM and I saw a trend of a certain race pop-up by the dozens. I think I'd try to do something with them. DMs are Dungeon Masters right? The players are just players roleplaying their character. How can anyone RP like building a wooden cabin in the middle of Amia forest and expect it to be treated as a plausible IC method to get an actual wooden cabin in said woods.

What you're saying is that anything is possible, until I get the right DM for the job.. or one that will allow it dispite another being against it?

No, he's saying get off your ass and do something instead of sitting here bitching about it.

I've seen exceptions to 'special things' be it races, or events... even these days. But the triggering event for this wasn't 'finding the right DM', or a 'Whim of a DM'.

It has without fail or deviation been exactly one reason why this has occured:

RPing your (censored) ass off.

Anyways: Halen was a DM for quite some time, and he always had a lot to do with the flight. He was pretty much your link to the DM team, oncall, always on hand, in the faction, and I do not recall that privelege ever being exercised. So I am again inclined to place the fault on you for insisting we ignored you instead of doing something.

Tormak's quite right. Allow me, however, to state it more elegantly, and extrapolate on his bluntly accurate analysis!

What I'm saying is that Amia is a really big server. 65 people are online very frequently, and the player base is probably three times that size. That's almost 200 active players, most with more than one character. If we assume two characters per player, that's 400 characters. Additionally, unlike what people commonly use for things like this, the DMs don't divide up the player base, so you don't get X number of characters per DM. A DM keeps track of 400 characters, 200 players, 65 people online at any given time. That's a lot of people to be looking at, reading about, examining, etc.

Now, taking all that into consideration, what did you do, as leader of a faction, to warrant DM interest? You got a few people to create some characters? You ran around for a bit eating some babies? No matter what DM it is, or how much time they have, they don't have time to follow an entire faction constantly. DMs run events, and plots. They provide entertainment for the server. What they don't do is provide a constant stream of entertainment for your group, and they don't have time to come up with plots and stories for you when other people have asked for plots and stories directly and still aren't getting them. It's like a banker leaving the line of people waiting to talk to him to go out and see if the guy sitting on a bench outside the bank needs to deposit a check.

If you want a DM for a plot or an event, ask them. Don't assume they're going to head out to the ocean, catch some shellfish, cook it into an elaborate meal, and then come into your hall with a lobster dinner of a plot on a silver platter, when they don't even know if you're hungry.

Okay, I get the entire large player base, can't help all.. you call us for help type of deal.

Perhaps I shall be more specific.

The idol of Tiamat was moved with help of a DM, I forgot who that was but I think it was you, Tormak.

You were the one I think that also told me that Wyrmhold wouldn't be rebuilt, hence the blessed skelleton in the middle of it.

RedeemerAutumn was a DM for some time, he was in the Flight as well. He pretty much took over when I was pretty much bored to death, standing around Cordor, having the same RP outside of Cordor. There was little interaction and I didn't know where it went wrong.

I'm not taking full credit of making the Flight for what it was, but the idea is spawned and boosted the plot 'till we ran to an halt.

What happened the last few months with the Flight (and I see there is no forum on it anymore either) is beyond me, actually.

I'm taking interest in this because Drak'law decided to turn up and exactly the same time I decided to come back and take a peek.

I can see an IC plot brewing and now we are asking for support, whether it's an collective effort or not. I just hope the effort in the RP is not overlooked..

Your problem. Deal with it. You won't read that how I want you to, but it's exactly what needs to be said.

I think your first problem is asking for "Support". I don't support or deny this plot. I am a neutral entity 3rd party that happens to play NPCs that might go either way... But whether or not you succeed and fail is on your shoulders.
