In my experience its easier to go "[Language] Hello" than it is to use a converter, because that way, anyone you talk to who knows the language won't be all "Whats that mean?"(And you won't have to retype it in English if you just do it the simple way  ) (Edited to make more sense. No idea how I bogged that one up.)

Well actually I'm trying to create a name related to a DnD language, in this case, Celestial. For example, righteous in celestial would be like what ?

A lot of people seem to use Latin as Celestial. However, I don't think there's an "official" celestial lexicon as there seems to be with drow, so I think you're on your own with that.

The issue is, unless someone is familiar with the same translator as you use, they probably won't pick up on it at all and in all reality, it's all just gibberish anyways. So, keeping all that in mind, I'd do a little research into the names of major celestial characters from canon sources and see if you can find a common trend with them.

Use latin man! That is the best for celestial. Though in this case your name would be either "pulchrum" or "iustium"

Some names of celestial paragons from canon material Quote: Barachiel, the Messenger, Domiel, the Mercy-Bringer, Erathaol, the Seer, Pistis Sophia, the Ascetic, Raziel, the Crusader, Sealtiel, the Defender, and Zaphkiel, the Watcher. Very much in the Christo-Judaic thematic so latin would be appropriate or middle Aramaic.

I like Latin for Celestial myself anyway.. it feels right, IMHO (plus yes there is canonical use of it, like Moshing pointed out)

I'd go with Aramaic or Hebrew, instead of Latin, personally. Hell, even Greek maybe. But whatever works and whatever you like is what you should go with.

I imagine that works, but then I'd have to convert all my battle cries to yet another language. Meh.
But in truth, I aways thought Thorass would be Latin. It's the direct ancestor of Common and many, many human regional languages. Like Latin and the Romance Languages.

The names Mosh cited certainly sound Semitic. So as GuNz said, Aramaic or Hewbrew might work. I use Latin for priestly spells, but I make no assumption that it's Celestial. It's just something archaic, maybe Thorass or whatever. Most people know some Latin, so a Semitic language would be more exotic, too. I use latin because it sounds right, but due to certain reasons I am fine with retconning the latin Gagis uses to Netherese as well.

Yus. Latin is a bit modern for an ancient language. Lets keep it as Celestial and keep the others either vaque or start plugging in ancient greek, persian and such.

Only the letters change, like a basic encryption (try: cool wool tool pool) I would go with latin, although the Enochian sounds cooler. Or search for Angel names, must be tons of them or make Your own and put an -el to the end.

And while using one or the other seems fine, mixing them together in exactly the same way as in the real world seems a little unfitting. You can't make an absolute distinction, of course, and you could make the same argument in almost any situation. I think -el actually comes from hebrew which is Semitic.

With the exception of the Greek Pistis Sophia, they all look Semitic (Hewbrew, Phoenician, Aramaic, it's pretty much all the same).

Oddly enough, the real world Pistis Sophia is one of the texts I read when developing my angelic character. And she uses Latin, gnostics be damned! You can try all that, but the best bet for a nice or unique or special name is to take one that refers to something that has meaning to you. Llinyarrii, my Aasimar cleric's name, is from a series of books (different spelling intentional, I used the Welsh proclivity of double consonants in their language) by Anne McCaffery called the Acorna series, these beings are the Linyari, a race of bi-pedals descended from unicorns. Sounded suitably celestial to me... then like my drow is Jjunle d'Vlos (Shadows of Blood), doesn't really matter to me if others get it, I'm the one playing her and -I- know what it means... if you want others to 'get it' then stick with simple and common references... most don't want to work hard to understand a name and won't pick up on if its intended to be special.... if you want a name you'll be proud of and can care less if others 'get it' then go for it... make up one that sounds good, or use a reference that has meaning to you. If you're worried if others will 'get it' or won't then use "Bob" -everyone- gets that, its also boring.

In ancient cultures, especially in the Middle-East but apparently elsewhere too (I've only studied the former) there was the practice of adding the name of a god to a name, to signify who the person (or his parents, rather) worships and how that god protects the person. The suffix -el simply refers to the god El, or Elohim (plural, as I understand). There are many Biblical people with names that end in -el, and their supposed lives far precede any Jewish/Palestinian angelology. The angels Michael, Gabriel etc. are certainly a newer addition to the tradition than Daniel, Samuel, Elizabeth etc. You will also find Ishbaal in the Bible, though some manuscripts have corrupted it into something else that was insulting, IIRC.
