I would like to see a BoT option (default with every BoT, not a looted page) to allow you to select which creatures you summon a la PnP.

I'd like to be a real boy, but alas all dreams can't be achieved.
And nuh, Tempus does not support undead.

BoT page summons is the best idea i've heard all day, and I got a new car today so thats a very good idea.
does that mean I need to either shift to CG or get a skin change to use level 3 summons? lame.

The same thing as with golems, methinks. Some elemental's soul has been crammed in some stump of a tree.

As far as I know, it's an elemental spirit sort of deal. When something dies out in the forest, somehow the soul may get wrapped up in all the vegetation and may eventually come to naturally animate some humanoid-looking shrubbery. So it's not undead... but it's likely as close as anything in Nature will ever get to it. IIRC, they are slightly related to fey, in that it's a thing made of plants and Nature animated by a soul.
As far as the Summoning BoT thing, it's been suggested many time before, but the rebuttal often given is that "people will just choose the most powerful one and the others will never get used." Which I suppose is true, if we were to come up with a whole list of creatures for each alignment and level of summoning. Relatively a lot of work, when in truth most of them wouldn't see use except for novelty and summoners testing them out.
But...
I'm not sure if it's ever seriously been looked at for an option to be made where a caster could choose from the summons already out there, like I mentioned before: Good or Evil could choose to summon Neutral, and Neutral could choose to summon either of the former. Of course, this kinda opens up the same problem as in the first scenario; people may just choose the "best" one.
But I think it would be harder to do so seeing as the summons we already have are relatively balanced between the alignments. It would not require making and balancing "new" summons either. I'm sure it still brings a problem in some respects when people go "well, why even go this alignment then when I can get it's summons either way." Hopefully they've chosen their caster's align because of RP...but... on the "off-chance" they didn't, perhaps there may be some slight detriment to summoning out of your alignment. Perhaps a 25% decrease in duration or so. I could certainly see a summoned Angel not wanting to stick around a Neutral summoner as long as it might a being of it's own alignment. And similar for the other alignments and creatures. Just food for thought if we ever wanted to take a serious look at this without shaking up balance too much.

It's not undead. It's a plant creature.

Dark Immolation wrote: Likely not. Familiars are generally small (magical)creatures. Beholders are relatively large and as well are fairly advanced in terms of culture, personality. And there's already a beholder summon. Actually, I take it back. I do really, really like the Eyeball. It has unique eye rays that are really awesome, and I think at higher levels is one of the best pets you can get in the game. I'd use the Beholder summon but the AI is horrible. It uses up all its eye rays in just a few rounds, then goes over and bights stuff for 1d4 damage or whatever it is. It's completely useless after the first bad guy is killed. I wouldn't mind seeing it changed so it doesn't use up all its eye rays so quickly, or, give it unlimited eye rays but make its rate of fire slow.

its a /wood/ wight. If you read the description its more of a construct made out of wood than undead.

Quote: Outsider (Epic Conjuration Extends, Alignment Based Summon) Construct (Epic Transmutation Extends) Elemental (Epic Evocation Extends) Magical Beast (Epic Conjuration Extends) Undead (Epic Necromancy Extends) Do they vary in power? I'm going to get the magical beast but I just wondered if they were balanced well? The Undead and constructs are presumably pretty indestructible as before, so can the others atleast hold there own?

Mosh balanced them all very well. Power really needs not to be a concern when making that choice.
