Just to add, even if there was still a point of controversy about it, gods technically count as "Outsiders" in terms of type. They are native inhabitants of other planes than the Prime.

In that respect, a god could certainly provide "peaceful contact with an evil outsider" needed to be a BG.

Oh damn, excellent point. That pretty much solves it once and for all, since "contact" need not be physical contact. Prayer and the divine answer, in the form of visions, sensations or spells is certainly a type of contact.

My point wasn't that it's NEVER from a deity, but that it doesn't HAVE to be. And if gods count as outsiders that effectivly means it can be either a deity, servant of the deity, archfiend/fiend or servant of an archfiend, no?

It could. The salient point is blackguards wield divine powers, so those must have a source consistent with divine powers.

I mention the lower planes as an alternative, because it is one for clerics as well (e.g., a cleric of Mephistopheles is getting his power from Cania).

As to a direct quote there is one immediately coming to mind. Scyllua's stat block in FRCS lists her as a BG of Bane, which specifically means she is getting her BG powers from that source (clerics are listed in the same way).
