Probably doing something wrong....but how can I keep the sidebar there when I am logged in. Soon as I do, sidebar goes buh bye.

You have set your board style to subsilver2_mini which is a minimal version without the sidebar. I made that one to please the people with tiny monitors. You shouldn't use it if you have the space to show everything in one go.

I fixed your setting, btw.
