I don't see what time has to do with anything but okay. I wasn't even asking for myself (the character I think you're talking about is the level he's at because a friend is) as much anyone who just spent a lot of DCs before the change was instituted.

Nah. I think we've refrained from giving DC rebuilds recently, because this has been in the works. There's no retroactive reimbrusement (of DCs or levels) because of this. I spent a bunch of DCs to rebuild my PC just before rebuild costs were halved for the first time, too. But that's life, and it can be compared to a product getting a discount after you bought it for the full price. Not to mention the practical impossibility of tracking past rebuilds.

By the way: this new policy also applies to DMs. There are no DM perks related to rebuilding anymore.

In general, the policy is "no refunds" in all areas. I might be willing to compromise for someone who just had a DC rebuild a few days ago, but not in cases where something was bought with DCs even before there was any plans for a freebie version of the same. It's a common policy in more serious businesses than Amia, too, mind. Though I doubt there is many who paid for a DC rebuild now. (At least) I've been telling people to put off their rebuild plans for the past month, ever since this plan was realised.

The freebie rate offered is quite a bit more than what DMs have on average used their perk, btw.

As it would be an appropriate timing for this kind of thing, it looks like there is some bug with the Rebuilder on B. So better ask the DM for a manual gear transfer, just in case. I already had to dig up one backup, and that's not a particularly enjoyable task for anyone (including the server).

I love such laws.

If bridge builders built bridges like programmers wrote code, the very fact that a single woodpecker existed would cause the world to implode.

Indeed, please follow this advice. Even though its a backup, you may lose some gear. And that just makes baby romulans cry.

That was the latest backup I found of her, unfortunately. :(

That's not very shocking. I find the amount of cysts, cancers, lesions, necroses and stuff that those chickens you eat had when they were alive a bit more shocking. The idea of eating diseased meat is not very appetising. (they don't have time to remove that sort of stuff before they're made into patties and burgers. a few of the things you learn at agriculture/animal husbandry lessons about the true problems people are having hard time solving)

The second sentence had meter and rhyme.

Also: This is an excellent, excellent idea. I just wish I hadn't decided to self rebuild my only two characters who needed them a month or so before this was put into place.

Still.. exciting stuff. Great work, and thank you for the sacrifice. :]

If you don't need to change starting classes, abilities, feats and skills can I assume it's simply an xp deduction followed by an xp addition with no gear transfer? I have a pc I'm looking to change a smidgen. Paladin/CoT/Fighter, if that matters.

Also, in order to have a brand-new class, feats and skills selections, it is best we make a request through a PM or the Requests forum first, right? With a possible explanation on why the change occurred?

Seems obviously a yes, but I wanted to make sure.

It just ocurred to me after talking to a friend on MSN.

A friend on MSN! wrote:

Is that so? Or can it happen to an old character that could have been rebuilt more than once before?

Either I am blind, or there is no such mention on the main post.

Aye, I ended up figuring out what could have possibly been the confusion:

Nekhy wrote:
Players may opt for a DC paid rebuild or a self-rebuild if they have already used their free rebuild option for an individual character and desire to rebuild again.

After re-reading that, we agreed that my friend was mistaken. I think that she was probably confused with that?

You can free rebuild the same character once per year.

I know where this came from! It was said in the planning stage, somewhere in the Request forum, in response to AxlLeigh's question about the coming rebuild change.

TormakSaber wrote:
For you it will be free because it will be your first rebuild.

One little comment from the initial planning stage, I suspect. Perhaps a stipulation that was discarded. But no worries. And at least we know your friend isn't just crazy! :D

This is probably a stupid question, but rebuilds don't also apply to weapons, do they? If I was going to rebuild my character I might switch his weapon specialization to something else. Only, I've spent a lot of mythals on a decent weapon and don't really want to lose all of that investment if my specialization were to change.

IIRC you can pay DC's to have an item's base type changed. Unless that was taken away from the list of things DC's acceptable property changes can be used for.

That would mean I could rebuild Bustier somewhere in Q1 2010 and yet again somewhere in Q1 2011 (or later). This means that you could theoretically rebuild the same character once after 9 months, but that's also mean you can't rebuild him for 15 months after that.

Then Yurell is right.

You could do a rebuild on the last day of one quarter (eg. March 31st) and another one (on a different character) on the first day of the next quarter (April 1st).

You can rebuild the same character after 9 months because you could do it on March 31st of 2009 (Q1) and Jan 1st of 2010 (Q1 the following year). You could still do it again 12 months later, though, as opposed to 15 (as far as I can see).

As for the time, I'd guess it's whatever Disco's tool reports it in. GMT, probably. But Yurell's just being nitpicky there :D

If I rebuild not by making a new character, but just by having my xp taken and given back - losing and regaining the animal companion feat in the process - will my reskin widget still work?

No idea, but you won't have to pay for a new one in any case. It's a matter of one or two minutes to set it again.
