not sure if this is the right place to put this, im pretty new here so i apologize in advance if this is the wrong section of the forum.
In short my problem is i need some sort of ring to prove i'm a citizen of cordor that the npc wont give me and i would appreciate it if a dm could give me one. my characters name is Alaun'ssyssn Riia
the long explanation:
when i was first making my character i wanted to make a half-drow/half sun elf that was born in cordor and lived there her whole life. I didnt actually write half-drow in the subrace field when i made her because that wasnt the aspect of her heritage i wanted to define her by but apparently thats caused some sort of problem that i wasnt aware i was creating. I got into a mishap with the guards earlier in the city, and was asked to show a signet ring. I explained that OOC i had no idea what this ring was, but my char had lived in cordor her whole life since birth and if a signet ring would have been given to her then she would have one on her regardless of my OOC newbie lack of knowledge. A couple players and a DM called me a liar OOC, basically saying that i was lying OOC to get out of them throwing me out of the city for not having a ring, and i was tossed out. I was able to find out that i'm supposed to have a signet ring from the temple/glade of ellistrae. So, i go to the temple/glade to get this ring that my character would have, except the npc wont talk to me, i'm assuming because i didnt write half-drow/drow in the subrace field on creation. If she was a low lvl char i would just remake her, but i've been playing her for a couple weeks and she's lvl 21, is it possible for a dm to give me one of these rings?
on a different note, i would just like to say that the way i was treated for not knowing about this ring was really unpleasant. When i explained that i was new and didnt know about these rings, but my char had lived in cordor her whole life and was a citizen, i got told everything from
'well thats too bad'
'no your not you dont have a ring, if you were a citizen you would have one'
'no you have not lived here your whole life, unless you've been slumming it under the radar and no one has noticed'
among other things. It really pissed me off that people were just ignoring what i was saying or outright telling me i was a liar. Not everyone you talk to is just a metagaming ass. Sometimes, the person your talking to really is just a new person that didnt know he wouldnt get a ring for not typing half-drow in the subrace field, there isnt any kind of information on it in the forums at all that i could find.
If you would like me to post a screenshot of my wand so i can show you that the first slot at the top where your home city is set is cordor, i will do so

not a DM but I like to point out that there is no such thing as a half-sun and half- drow elf, an elf is either a sun elf or a drow elf but not a half sun/half drow. it is either or not both.

I believe herkles is correct. Also nobody that I remember actually called you a liar. And you also failed to produce papers proving your citizenship. The signet ring thing applies only to drow insofar as I know, not general citizens of the city. If you had been able to provide documentation showing you were a citizen, you might have been fine.
Edit: Actually you probably wouldn't have been fine, because you were getting thrown out for several IG days either way for your behavior, the lack of ring and documentation just meant it was a bit rougher than it might have otherwise been.

...Nor do you get the Signet Ring from the NPC at the Shrine, or from any NPC. Nor is it the case that you are without a Ring because you didn't put 'Half-Drow' in as a subrace.

That, and the chances of a Sun elf mating with a Drow are Extremely unlikely. Not impossible, but certainly unlikely.

I suppose the best course of action now is to post a new topic in the request forum: Asking the DM team if indeed you could RP your character as such - born and raised in Cordor.
If yes, then it would only make sense that she'd have the papers and/or a signet ring. Good luck.
Edit: OR just say you're not a drow but a sun elf. Thus there'd be no need for any signet ring.

Lore Wise;
It isn't a rule we keep, but it's good to know; elven blood doesn't mix.
Sun Elf + Drow = Sun Elf or Drow, completely.
Rules wise;
The drow system on Amia is mentioned if you make a drow, as that's when it's necessary. It's also made obvious by the point that drow cannot enter Cordor without a Signet Ring. They simply can't get in; they start at the Shrine of Eilistraee instead.
Since you, as far as the game server can tell, made an elf that wasn't drow; you didn't get the mechanical warnings. I'd, personally, classify this as a PEBKAC issue as a result.
If your Elven PC has black skin, it's likely to be treated as being a drow; both IC and OOC, and that's not the problem of the players reacting to it.
My suggestion is the following;
Change your PC to look elven. A DM can change your skin tone in game. Subsequently accept that you're an elf.
or
Get a DM to make your subrace Drow. A DM can do this in game. Subsequently accept that you're a drow.
Note, however, if you're a drow or strongly resemble one; you'll appropriately not be allowed in Cordor. If you want to have prior citizenship, you'll have to make a request on the forums to the DM Team so we can arrange it (as the DMs maintain setting and NPC)

Some (but hopefully not all) people are just like that, or had a just bad day. Amia's (as far as I can tell ) full of nice folks.

I wasnt upset about being thrown out of cordor for my behaviour, i would have been shocked if you hadnt. Getting thrown out was part of the rp and could have been fun. I dont have any problem with people treating my character as a drow when she looks like one, thats why i made her look like one i wanted that reaction. When i let people know that i didnt know OOC that i was supposed to have a ring, but my char had lived there her whole life, and then i get tells saying im a liar im just saying that to get out of the situation OOC, thats a pretty poor way to treat someone who's new and honestly just didnt know. Those tells are what im pissed about, not the rp. As i said, not everyone is a metagaming jerk, sometimes someone is just new and didnt know. Apparently unless i type drow in the subrace field none of this information is ever given. WonWon wrote: Lore Wise;

thank you for letting me know that elf blood doesnt mix, not something i had realized. If a DM could reskin my character to a regular elf, however thats done, that would be great. I dunno if i need to do anything for that, if so let me know.

All you need to do is find the number of the skin color you need on this list and give it to a DM in-game.

skin color 2 would probably be appropriate for a sun elf, thanks for that.

I'm not going to lie, I cant blame anyone for saying a player is a liar if they are stating "facts of a character" as if they are true and they are not, thats why its allways good to start of basic and simple.
offen when you are new to a server you would not state having a tie to a location you know nothing about, you save that for a diffrent character after you learn about the area and server.
think if a new person showed up in cordor and IC you said you lived there all your life and they asked you where stuff was, who the people are,history and you knew nothing that would look kind of bad, saying your new does not change the fact IC that it looks bad.
this was not ment to be rude just alot of people here I think are not used to people jumping into the deepend of the pool if they dont know how to swim yet.

Or look the colors up when crafting your armor color, they are the same as far as I can tell and remember right now.
One way how I find my color quite often, yup, yup.

oh i agree completly, i actually did research things on the forums before i made this char. she's actually my second character, i made a character before her to look around the server and get to know the place, played him for a couple weeks. I've played this character for about 3 weeks now i think, and never once has anyone ever mentioned a ring to me. these rings are something people who have been playing on the server for quite some time would know about, because its a part of the citizenship for a drow elf, but not much mention of it is made on the forums. i didnt see anything about it under the rules, subrace, history, or any of the other various threads ive read. Apparently, unless you type drow in the subrace field, you dont get told any of this. thats a bit harsh to just expect people to know something that isnt mentioned anywhere and say others are justified for calling you a liar
i do apologize if i took your post wrong, but it sounds like your telling me i dont know anything at all about cordor or the history of the land. i do in fact, i made sure i did, and these rings werent mentioned anywhere. i didnt ask people where stuff was, who people were, or what the history was.

Getting to know about the rings is a bit tough, it does involve the time when Drow were freely allowed in Cordor, followed by an IC ban on all Lolthites.
For the goody drows were the signet rings introduced.
Also, to be honest, I never knew about them either until I was asked for them too. (Fortunately I played a Tiefling with dark skin and so could just humor the people and joke about it)
Well, and there is no reason to know about it unless it involves you, no? At least that is the way I see.
If you wouldn't have accidentally not entered the subrace field, no blame on you there, I remember the times when I forgot the enter anything into the God field when making someone who worships a God. Happened quite often enough.
Well, all there is is a half drow though, under the half elf subrace.

Welcome.
And don't begruge people mistakes if its unintentional, getting on their case about it when they realized they mucked up and trying to fix it is lame, we all screw up from time to time.

I'm sorry you were treated this way. Devils advocate wise, Cordor is an occasional hotbed of naked dwarves screaming "LOL PWN PWN GIF GOLD DMS" so sometimes someone who honestly doesn't know what's up gets the brunt of those folks. By and large, the good people overcome.
I've said it once, and I'll say it again Amians. Please don't assume everyone walks into the server a pro.

Fair enough.
I don't imagine this is the first or last Drow who's shown up in Cordor to find themselves basically being taken out without being aware of the situation as it is.
Addendum:
Is there a reason ICly why Waukeen's temple is the entry point for new people arriving in Cordor? I understand it's a good central starting area and such but is there any way we could do even a little something to flavour it better. (and more readily give access to setting information)
