This was common place a few years ago, when Lancel was around level 7-8. Fireballing and Cloud of Bewildermenting the Trogs came with the low cost of hitting himself.
Gillaria didn't seem to mind though.

Nekh, "Aggro" is the aggression or attention of the monster. When it's attacking you, you have its aggro. In games like WoW, aggro is dynamic and can change in a manipulative way; a class built for it could draw aggro, thus making them able to tank. In NWN, it's basically just monster attention since true aggro sadly doesn't exist.

'Aggro" is when a hostile NPC targets you and attacks.
"Doom circles" are when the PC starts getting his ass kicked by the hostile NPC and starts running in a circle around the combat while the aggro'd monster chases him down.
"RP Builds" do not exist. There is no such thing. The term was created by egotists who either lost face in PvP or PvM or who are so insecure that they need to have some point of imagined superiority to cling to; the term is meant to imply that people with quality/sensible builds who acknowledge that this is a game involving numbers are the opposite of roleplayers, that being, non-roleplayers. In truth, roleplay and mechanical building don't have much to do with each other.

Psh, this jargon goes under the same topic as "fictional drow language" and "mechanics". Not interested, and proud of it. I'll spare my time for the subjects that interest me beyond trying to make sense of an otherwise nice thread on the forums, and let those into their jargon focus on mastering it.

Shame on you again! Aggro is known across the world, even the dictionary knows it. In other words, knowing it if you are under the age of 40 and you have played some game around the years 1995-2008 is common knowledge. Nothing nerdy about it really.
Yes, I said the last sentence just to make me feel a little better myself.

Aggro also means many other thing as slang words and normally. It is a synonym to ruckus, trouble etc. Different kinds of slangs use it just for angry and aggressive mainly... methinks. Nonetheless, it's still common knowledge to know what it means, even though it's not used as a game term.

"I file", as the clear majority of Finns say it.
But if you know what it really means, you should be able to figure what it means in NWN terms.

You people speak in tongues.
Indeed. I still dont really know the definitions of many of the terms that get tossed around in the build thread ('Tank' is pretty obvious, but not so much the other character types).
Would someone be so kind as to explain to me exactly how one 'cornersneaks'?
There's a lot of useful advice here for those of us who dont understand the mechanics and cant build for squat (and who save face by calling ourselves 'RP builds' ).

Maybe I'm the only one who has experienced this, but the Mage who only buffs himself and his summons and no one else in the party.

Agro - You have drawn agro with a spawn's AI has determined that you are the target to be attacked. Typically, you want the toughest guy in the party to draw agro (often by being the guy ahead or out front)
Doom Circles - When a somewhat-less tough member of the party runs in wide circles as a creature (or multiple) chases them. The ideal Doom Circle will bring the offending monsters through other party members, causing them to provoke attacks of opportunity - and making the critters choose a target other than the poncy, weak archer who was previously running in said doom circles.

If you can't "Hide in Plain Sight" like a shadowdancer, you "cornersneak". You "hide", pop out from behind a corner/rock/obstacle and sneak attack something/someone. Then you duck behind the corner/rock/obstacle and "hide" again, and repeat.

Umm... Yes, you are absolutely right. I'd say "to aggro" is to attack something, be it a PC or a NPC The subject, not the object, being my own PC. Which seems to be the exact opposite of what the term is used for in online game jargon.
The thing about jargons is, that common words may have completely different meanings in the new context, than in common language, as well as having made-up words of their own.
But I'll thank Yossi and Letum, again, for giving the answer I actually asked for. We can continue the linguistic debate in another topic. It's more of my forte than game jargon, anyway.
I also concur Xavi's wish for a dictionary of these terms us lame and horrible n00b WoWers don't know. It'd be most kind.

Since this is the L2P-thread ... Cornersneak:
Is it enough to be out of line of sight to successfully hide again as a cornersneaker, or do I have to be out of spot-range? (Spot works around corners, I believe.)
Thanks! Ts

If you read the build topic too much, you get your head filled up with all of the jargon floating about.
It would be nice if someone scraped together all the goods points brought forth here and posted them in one topic, along with the definition of all the jargon as well... heaven knows I won't do it

You need only break line of sight. When this happens, other characters (with whom you've broken Line of Sight) will become 50% transparent (showing that you can detect them, but you cannot see them)

I try that and they all run to where I am hiding behind the rock/corner/whatever.

It has to be what the engine considers a corner, not something that looks to us like one Sometimes the two are completely different. In Wiltun, you can cornersneak behind the stall thingies. You can be seen from the knees up, but the engine thinks it's better than a four foot wide tree trunk.
As Ron said, the best way is to watch them going halfshaded. That, lag willing, is when they can be cornersneaked.

I think there should be more RP during hunting on tactics. RP it out, tell everyone the plan and make sure they understand ICly and OOCly.

My dragon disciple being a lieutnant the academy of warriors in Ultrinnan usually RPs tactics before leaving. Or, when out in the fields, before attacking.
Not everyone stops to listen. Not everyone that stops to listen does as was just discussed. But if either of this happens I IC have the right to say "I told you so". :p
Anyway, I admit that it is not everytime that I do this.

Yeah, give 'em an almost fool proof plan, then when they fail to put it to action because they done it their way have a right giggle, and don't forget to point!
Just kidding!
I agree with the tactics part. Like in the Yuan-ti just before Babylon, it can be important to IC'ly make sure everyone knows where to tread and to do so lightly, as not to set the spawns around the side at the same time and have roughly 20+ creatures all bashing away with you, posion from one direction, death spell from another, an OnHit Dispel and a crit of about 70+ all around.
It's not good having so many of the Mystics casting magic-missiles that it adds up to many IGMS spells going off. Speaking from experience.. Eheh..

Honestly hon it depends upon how many buffs the mage has to use. We all know that some spells of certain levels only give certain amount if divided between another needed spell in the same level. My bardess could only toss out two imp invis and two hastes since they were in the same level. Or four mage armors / four see invis.
So she has the choice. Toss out two imp invis for her and her summons but lose out on the mage armor so the others in the party can see each other to help buff before attack.
Now if that caster you're thinking of is high enough to have buffs for all and is just stingy...well....Shame on Them.
Another thing for some meleers.
If your squishy isn't fighting because they know they only do about 1 hp of damage out of 100 swings to an enemy, snarky comments about them "just standing around" even though they have a god like summons saving you from time to time:
Is Just Not Cool!
Not being a Dev Critting Tank does not mean they're useless.

I'm most definitely talking about the mage who has buffs for himself, his summons. and then a bunch of fireballs that he burns out on the first couple of spawns.

Well, if you ever get to travel with any of my mages, you wont experience this, as many people i've hunted with as my mages will know (I hope.. heh.) that i give everyone as many buffers as possible.
If im in a party, i buffer the party before the summons usually, because alot of the time, enough uses for IMP invis, GMW and flame are left over, and with a party, that can more often than not be enough to keep the summon going to help enough.
The players are more important to keep alive than the summons, as long as i can keep myself from being killed, the summon can just be recast (If there are any uses left, that is.)
Little side note too; Anyone who has their own buffers, please, please, please wait until after the mage has finished buffering, it becomes confusing as to what buffers to give out and end up giving what aren't needed, or better yet, sit back and save your money, let the mage cast their buffers 'til you get sky high!

Generally I haste myself and then race the radial dial to get everyone's buffs listed ... usually I finish five, six or more buffs ahead of my char :D
If they want to buff themselves they can go right ahead, I do all the same buffs in the same order (depending on class, of course), so unless I am told that a spell isn't needed I don't pay attention to what is cast.

I've been in the situation where my characters have been ICly persuaded into partying with someone that they otherwise wouldn't, and they withheld buffs from them. Other than that, if they don't like someone enough to buff them, they don't party up at all.
A Good character would also be acting out of concern for their safety, but Neutral and Evil would just be thinking in terms of their spells and party mates as assets to be used best.
Flame Weapon, GMW, Improved Invis and Mindblank + Tank is a much better use of assets than Melf's Acid Arrow, Fireball, Ice Storm, Cone of Cold + Tank, and I don't agree that it can be described as an OOC level, as Crow did. The first party whomps one spawn then sucks, and the second party kicks bottom for turns/level.
Your hunts did happen as you saw them, in the roleplayed game world; it's not as if everything ICly fades to black for a while then the PCs come out with more XP.
