I posted in my new characters bio that people could make native american tribal people and because a lot of people gave me interest i thought i'd post it on here.
Basically the story is that my character, Chief Honovi Qaletaqa is the leader of the tribe. Think tanned skin, body paint, black hair and loin cloths. And he decided the pressure in the forest of the mainland was too much, being pressured and hunted by witches.
Thier attitude is to be grateful and kind to the land, having such a deep respect for nature. However at the same time not worshiping a god, but focusing more on the 'spirits' of nature. Prefering setting up camps than to reside in stone walls. The tribe slowly make their way to Amia.
Current:
Chief Honovi Qaletaqa
Tarqua Qaketaqa - Chiefs younger brother(I believe that was the spelling)
Cheveyo- 'Spirit warrior'
The requirements are simple. Human, preferably tan skin and black hair. Anything not using arcane magic. Any gender, sincere respect for nature.

It's quite cool to take inspiration from cowboys and indians, but please don't translate it too directly, Amia is set to a specific setting, namely the Forgotten Realms, and your tribe has to fit in there somehow.
Now, the Forgotten Realms is a rather slutty setting, and has had an affair with almost any RL culture imagineable, so I am sure there's tomahawk-wielding chieftains in there somewhere. If there is, a fellow nerd will enlight you in about 5 minutes or less.

I know the FR has a place like North America somewhere near Maztica, there's probably a few (totally) NOT-SIOUX, NOT-IROQUOIS, NOT-MOHAWKS, etc kicking around somewhere.

If yea have played Amia 2 campaigns...it's generally adapted to the lizard peoples(as Indians) ^^
...still has a nice potential, just need a way to make it fit in.
Few willing players and a couple dc's for the skin changes to lizard people, and alittle campout in the swamps, and ta-duh!
...for a dc-less answer, perhaps some swamp druids?
Indians in a mythological sence were all about 'the great spirits and protecting/living in nature' which fits druids and rangers rather well.
And who wouldn't love a small band of swamp druids?
Remind yourself that the chance of a pseudo-native arriving in Amia on his/her own accord is about the same as a real one arriving in medieval Europe. This never happened, so i guess the chance is about, if not exactly, zero.

So the lizards are scrapped, onwards with the swamp druids of pre-existing races

I strongly disagree. I see very little of medieval europe in the setting, apart from swords and armor. Otherwise, the setting seems very modern, and I imagine the Forgotten Realms to be quite globalized - at very least so should the case be for the exceptional individuals that are adventurers, with means of transportation available to them violently surpassing those available to the people of medieval Europe: portals, flying beasts etc.

Maztica is the New World, though it seems more geared towards South and Middle American cultures. There's trade between the two continents, as well as some colonization, so we're in the "16th century" in terms of connections, if one must make the comparison.
You can download the sourcebook on the continent for free, here.

Aye, Maztica is roughly based on Mayan and Aztek (For the most part anyway). I always thought it would be fun to make a character based on this but meh. Not a lot of people care for this part of FR and it would be kinda odd on Amia.
That's hardly medievil. It's barely even renaissance. It's more closely the golden age of piracy which was starting up towards the end of the renaissance. Just... FYI.

POCAHONTAS.

Pfft. I didn't say it was medieval. I just said there was documentation. Picky.

Still not medievil. Pocahontas didn't head to England until 1616.
Urrr... Age of Empires lets me play as the Aztecs vs The Franks, and if I accomplish a decent Feudal or Castle attack, I am fairly well in the medieval ages and in Europe, right...?

And from what I've seen Toril seems to be mostly one large land-mass + islands rather than continents seperating masses of people.
Toril is actually a lot like the real world. Faerun, Kara-tur, and Zakhara are essentially Europe (though this part is far more fantastical than the rest), Asia, and the Middle East respectively. There isn't really a Russia. Anchorome and Maztica are North and South America, and not connected to the rest in any way.
There are also Unknown Lands (basically, places that no one has bothered writing about) south of Maztica, which would logically(by TSR standards) be Africa, and east of Kara-tur, which would be Australia.
We can't take the stuff exactly like the real world, but a "native American" type would almost certainly be from Anchorome, and would therefore likely be very much against traveling to Faerun. There might be trade between the continents, but I've never seen anything about the natives of Anchorome or Maztica traveling back and forth.
that is a cool idea, having native like charcters. Someone above mentioned that Rangers and Druids would be the closest to them. I agree. One problme I see is that there are no horses in Amia and horses played a huge part in many if not most Native American's livlihood.
come to think of it horses were an integral part of medieval times as well...oh well no horses...

*Cough* There were no horses in the Americas during the rise native cultures. The native wild horses became extinct around the time humans arrived there across the land bridge where Bering Strait is now. Native Americans never domesticated the horse. The only large mammal they managed to domesticate was the llama, and it never spread far. Domesticated horses came to the Americas with Europeans, and some North American native peoples adopted them quickly in order to compete with Europeans and other native peoples. (I may, of course, be mistaken, but I believe this is the widely accepted theory at the moment.)
Chult is more like the khoisan and pygmy peoples of Africa. Native, sure, but probably not what the OP is looking for.
