So my roommate has been watching me play for the past few nights and is interested in joining the server. We have a laptop and a desktop in our flat but both of use them pretty interchangibly. For instance if she wants to game and watch a movie in the living room she'll take the laptop and if I am playing LoL or something will use the desktop. However, if I am doing schoolwork or whatever I often use the laptop and she'll game in the office on the desktop.

Will we get banned from the server if we play Amia like this? The reason I ask is I have my cdkey and once GoG sends one for the laptop it will have a different cdkey. I just don't want to have to constantly change cdkey everytime one of us plays on the other device. I hope this question is clear.

Also having a bit of a problem getting nwn to run on Windows 10. ;_;

That being said, you simply won't be able to log on if you don't swap out CD keys since your PCs are tied to the CD key they were generated under, without a DM authorizing them in the first place, which given this particular case, I am not sure I can advise to ask for.


For the second question, try running the game in compatibility mode, which you can access by right clicking your launcher icon (or the games exe, both should do the trick if memory serves) and go into properties, it should have an option there. Windows XP Service Pack 3 should work. (can't exactly tell you what its called since I don't have my UI set to engish)

Here's an idea if you're technically inclined and using the same computer with separate keys:

Step 1: Go to NWN directory, and make sure you remember the path. It must replace the below lines in the batch file to match your ecosystem. My file system most likely WILL NOT MATCH YOURS.
Step 2: Create a /cfg/p1 directory and copy nwnplayer.ini to that new folder from the NWN root directory. Modify the file you just created as a copy (using notepad) and ensure the CDKey's are correct for player 1. Now do the same thing with cfg/p2 for player 2.
Step 3. Make the two batch files. Rename them player_1_a.bat and player_2_a.bat. Make sure they're actually .bat's and not player1.bat.txt. If you can't figure this out make sure under control panel > folder options > show known file extension _IS_ checked.
Step 4. ???
Step 5. Profit.

Q: How does this work?
A: Simple. Xcopy copies your cdkey ini file from a designated template folder to the one NWN will use, then it starts NWN.

Q: Can I have a shortcut for B?
A: Simple. Just change the IP's port that NWN is connecting to, and save the .bat as another name.
