The server resets on a much longer timeframe now, I think its 8 hours? There's still only 2 sets of 'magical gems' that allow you to defeat her. I'd like to see that system changed or improved on. But i'd like to hear what others ideas are.

I thought they reset, but people had to actually be out of the dungeon with no one else coming back in for that to happen.

I use the rubies from the pirate chest, so I don't have to bother going to get the rubies inside the dungeon.

The other two sets, I always grab whatever is there, to keep it at 20 spares in my inventory. That keeps me going all those times the gems aren't there. I replenish them back to 20 whenever they start spawning again.

You can always grab any other emeralds/amethysts from anywhere else (other than the job system ones) and they also work to disable her shield.

I jokingly told someone one time that we couldnt find the gems because someone was hording them to control access to Babylon. Thank you for confirming my paranoia :D

I only horde them to 20. ;) And only so I don't run in there expecting to do some killing just to find out there's no bloody gems. And, yes, I'd recommend keeping a little stockpile if you're planning on killing her a lot. I've gotten back down to 6 before, on both. 14 straight times of there being no gems.

They really could use a better way to respawn.

Considering we ow have the spawn boss/player/reset this really is no longer needed. However, if I remember right the whole dungeon is on the overhaul list.

Amethysts are almost impossible to find outside the dungeon itself. That's what I see as the limiting factor on people spawning the boss.

Any clue of time table on this? Shouldn't be overly difficult to just remove the invincibility and the script of gem placing that removes the invincibility until that time comes?

Just doing that would not be hard but doing it just that way kinda kills the IC info and lore you can then still find inside the place about Babylon and the orbs and gems. Which imho would be a little awkward.

I am rather fond of conditional bosses, myself. It doesn't lend itself well to boss farming runs but it helps separate those unique encounters from the more basic ones, in more ways than just difficulty. The contested nature of the gems do pose a problem as I know of at least one character that collects specific gems without any intention of fighting the boss.

Perhaps we can make it so that you click a PLC on the ground and you recieve a gem once a reset per player.

That would prevent people from running about there all day collecting them if they have a respawn timer and it would not kill the requirement of them and the lore would remain.

I like Amarice's idea of finding a way for each player to be able to spawn one (set) of the gems each reset.

I understand the frustration. I do not hunt very often, and I hunt bosses even less, but I have never found all three gems on any run through the Yaun-ti.

I firmly disagree with removing the requirement for the gems all together. Even though the dungeon is slated to be redesigned, (and depending on who does that, the gems may well go away) we put a lot of thought into how to make the dungeons unique; and give them some sort of flare besides just running through hacking and slashing to the end. It may be old and common place for most of our regulars now, but I find the overall "steps" of the journey well done.

Though, this thread does remind me to add some sort of extra check to my current project so certain items are not horde-able.

PLC idea sounds great if it wouldn't tax the area at all to do it. Alternatively, special gems could be dropped by specific Yuan-ti. With folks assaulting the ruins all of the time, perhaps the local crew started looking after their master's belongings a little better?

Now that's a good-looking idea.

Years ago when the yuan ti were actually a hot spot due to the adequate loot bin and decent xp, I was one of those intrepid players who would collect all the gems. I would then provide a generous service to other groups seeking to challenge the dungeon by making sure parties were supplied with the materials needed. At a premium price. Naturally....

Although, if you need to ruin the economic ability for clever players, can we at least have some sort of Amia welfare instead?

Overstatement of the year, but if it's seriously affecting your income you should report that when you file your taxes.
