Now with the Hak Update and L'Obsul Update crossed off my project list, I will be doing an update for the Amia Headpack next. THIS HEADPACK will be included first and foremost. It improves the quality of the bulk of the old NWN 1 heads. I would ask everyone to look through that list, and tell me if there is any of the new versions you would prefer to have as an alternative to the current versions, if there is too stark of a difference.

We will not making an alternative for too many though, because we simply are lacking the slots for it. The skin color of those heads can all be changed as well. I will start working on it around this Sunday, and hopefully it can be available then sometime next week.

Human male
04, 07, 11, 14, 18, 19,

Elven female
19

The only one I personally would consider to maybe make seperate is elven male 16 as it is the only elven male head with facial hair which is good for half-elves who pick the elven phenotype and the replacement has non.

Woo, I like that headpack a lot. My girlfriend found it when I was starting to play NWN but I never figured out how to make it work in single player, heh.

I only really would ask to keep the female elf head 129, as it's the one I love to have on Chesswae. The others can be fixed if a few DMs will not mind to be bothered, ahem.

I think any of the heads that change too much of the original's features should be left out. I'll specifically comment on elf female, since that's what I play. I am fond of head numbers 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9, 10, 12, 13, and 14's replacements for elf female, and I do like more custom heads being added. I actually think some of the original heads have duplicates in the current Amia headpack, which allow for tattoo colors to show. I don't know about the other races/genders, but I'm not against elf female's changes, at least the ones I listed.

Actually, I used to play an elf male, so I'll comment there too. I like numbers 2, 5, 6, 7, 9, 10, 15, 18, 19, and 20- assuming those last two are new additions and not replacements for drider and female dwarf, too (if that's the case, I also approve of female elf 17-20.)

Otherwise, some of the faces hold a lot of character that this new headpack just erases (see: new WoW models >_>). If these original heads don't have duplicates in our current pack, I'd recommend leaving them be, because someone might like to look old and wrinkly, or have facial hair (as Amarice pointed out), etc. Still, this is a good find, and I hope some of them get implemented!

EDIT: Actually, I'll comment on human female too, since I used to play a half-elf that used the human model. I like numbers 1, 3, 5, 10, 12, 13, 17, 20, 23, 24, 25, 142, and 28 (using the same criteria as above that 28 is a new addition and not replacing that gnome female head.)

Like some of the Mods. I suppose its impossible to add the heads and keep existing ones in some way?

Also, Whilst we are on the subject, Possibly my comment could go to IA. Can we also suggest other head packs from the community site?

The problem is that we are seriously lacking available slots, given the amount of heads we already added. So for the bulk of them, it will be one or the other. And yes, you can submit other headpacks here in this topic. But depending on the race, we may not have room.

If thats the case I'll trawl through and PM you some suggestions if thats alright? :D

Each gender-race has a specific number of slots available. Of those slots, only a small number are selectable at character creation. As soon as you go over the available slot size, you can no longer select heads at character creation or in the toolset. The only remaining option is then for a DM to assign them to your character. It also notably cuts down on their use, as we can not use them for NPCs.

Going outside the limit however is a pain to test if they work, and they are completely unavailable in the toolset. That is why I only do that work-around for a few select heads we really want.

Which means for this update, you are going to see almost exclusivly one or the other with these updated versions. If there is a good reason why the updated version should not be taken (as it is too different) then it will not. But it should have a good reason. Does the new head suddenly have horns? Is it a full beard turning into a little french moustache? So if there is a specific head you do not want to see updated with these, please give me the race/gender and the number, and write down your reason.

As it stands, human female 16, 17 & 151 are the only old female heads of which I'm aware (a few, like 120 & 129, might conceivably be 'middle aged'). Granted, they aren't very good, but removing 16 & 17 leaves only one head for older female characters that want to look their age, and 151 looks awfully depressed. I'm currently using HF 17 on Xaviera (and am about to make a request that uses that specific head).

Pony, if I understood you correctly, you suggest that some of these heads can be kept as custom heads, rather than being among those available at character creation. Is anybody actually using any of the helmeted heads (43-46 & 135-136)? Can you possibly replace some of those instead, or at least move 16 & 17 into those slots or the custom bin if you want to replace the lower numbered heads with new ones? Honestly, I'd like to see a few more old female heads that aren't as badly done as the three we have now. Most of the male heads have wrinkles & lines enough that they can be used for any age, but the vast majority of the females have flawless complexions and, even with hair colour changes, don't really suit older characters.

Is there any bald human heads with no facial hair? 12 and 17 both suddenly began cultivating around their mouths what grows wild around their ass.

To me most of those look too effeminate for my tastes. Some of them look like adult babies with how bare-faced and clean they are.

But since I don't see Rashad's head on that list, which means it won't be messed with, have at it I guess.

(I like numbers 3, 5, 10, 13, and 15. The rest differ too much from the original.)
Human female: http://i.imgur.com/YcQhQuY.jpg
(Already gave my opinion in an earlier post)
Elf male: http://i.imgur.com/Z8i5eDe.jpg
(Opinion already given.)
Elf female: http://i.imgur.com/yRfwOiE.jpg
(Opinion already given; I am especially fond of #7 and I see myself using it if implemented.)
Custom (looks like dwarf female): http://i.imgur.com/Tnuxn6l.jpg

I'm all for new custom heads being added if there's space for 'em.

Any chance we can see more Halfling heads? Or, if worse comes to worse, is there a shot to turn some of the existing human heads into heads for Halfers?

I am gonna push this back, as with the amount of the exceptions of old heads people wish to have kept - adding this aint as straight forward as I hoped it would be. I will take a look at this around march.

Not entirely on topic but - Is it possible in the meantime to repackage all the 7z files for heads into one comprehensive file? I still see headless people and I thought I had them all downloaded and added.

There is a 2nd headpack currently named (addon) in the optional download page under headpack. That one you also need. We will definitely merge it all into a single headpack at the next update.

Right now, I will be postponing the update for a while. I need to figure out how to best address this, including counting every open slot we still have. There are too many heads being asked to keep as is, so it has become a little more complicated to updating this in a manner that makes everyone happy.

Did you download both the normal and the addon, as they appear right next to each other? If you downloaded from the main source, and then the addon, it won't work. I had to download directly from the page for both files before they would work.

I think aside from the completely reworked heads, the rest should be replaced. I think those that disagree are more likely to speak their mind than those that agree, so I think you should keep in mind that you may not make everyone happy. Me though, would love if you replaced all of the heads with the hd heads.

I don't make many male characters, but I have a male drow with this head, and his RP is its taken him over 400 years to grow that goatee to that extent.. and with no other options for facial hair on male elven chars, would be nice to keep 1, it could use some touch ups, the hair does look better in the reworked one, but leave the goatee, plz?

Human 20 should be left as it is, agreed. The new one doesn't look good. Also, most heads to look feminine, like Rashad said. The Elven male heads look great, the female heads look good too... but a bit too barbie-ish, perhaps.

100% support it for all the elves, who are supposed to look great and wind up looking a bit too much like stick figures all the time. The human heads sometimes look like the overly beautified version of the original one, but the vast majority of them is definitely an improvement.

Isn't it possible to override the old heads with the new ones just for yourself? Meaning other people see the old ones while you on your own screen see the new ones?

Yeah, though it'll be weird for the heads that are pure additions and not overrides, I think. I'm using one of the heads that is overridden for me right now, and it's working fine. However elf female #7 doesn't appear to work at all, and the original head is still seen for me even though I have the overrides (both plt and mdl) in my folder.

This won't change your head, no. Here are the numbers for elf female, if you were curious. 23 is the highest number (I think 17-23 replace heads or are addons). Yours is #40 or higher.

I think the consensus is that these models as additions would be preferable as a replacement. It should be possible to fill up the slots of the 201+ slots to enable that for male and female human. Possibly elven female as well. The rest should have enough slots available for it not to be needed. In other words, all the current versions and new versions would be available to the players.

What I need to know from the dev and dm team is which of the two ways to do this you would prefer:

Option AAdd the new heads in slots 201+.

- This would mean the new heads are not selectable in the toolset, as everything above slot 200 does not appear in the list.

- The old heads would be available in the toolset selection list.

- This means the new heads are only available to players by a DM giving them a head change.

Option BMove the old heads in slots 201+, and put the new heads in the slots 001-199.

- This would mean that all the NPCs would have the new updated heads.

- The old heads would not be available in the toolset selection list.

- The new heads would be available in the toolset selection list.

- The old styled heads then would only be available to players through a DM giving them a head change.

I think Heads, are very Player Thing. Giving the DM new toys to paly with is nice but ultimately a character head is something that player has to look at all the time. It is almost an intimate part of the immersion process. As players we should always be offered more customization.
