I have been contemplating doing this for a little while but I have a teamspeak server i am on constantly and now am usually one with a few people from amia. Skype groups and chats are nice but sometimes voice is so much easier and nicer to have while your focusing on something else. So i have decided to open my server to all of amia so that people can chat freely while on amia or any other game. A few things to keep in mind. 1 This is only a 20 person server but if we start seeing a large influx of people on i can perhaps increase its size. Also this is used for 1 or two other groups of mine as well those channel will be locked to specific permissions that can be made available to others if they so wish. But until those permissions are granted you cannot see who else is on the server in those group channels. So please if you join the Teamspeak stay on as someone may be there and join you soon. :)

If you do not already have teamspeak you can download it here. http://www.teamspeak.com/?page=downloads

Server info

IP:173.236.29.51:10007
PW:rukia (no caps)

Please also be aware when setting your teamspeak up if your not going to use push to talk but voice activation. Please have a headset or headphones so as not to echo all game sounds or voices when in the chat. Also please treat everyone with respect in the server. If any problems occur on the teamspeak please look for Synitry or Nikki to help with it.

There are multiple Skype chats, spread wide and thin! It usually depends on what factions/groups you play with on Amia. They typically have Skype groups where all of their members can chat. Theres no general big one dedicated to just Amia in general as far as I know of, since Skype sucks and doesn't really have the interface for that sort of thing. Team Speak is much better for that. Thanks for this, Syn!

This is why i have opened my teamspeak it is a great forum to allow for multiple channels and a multitude of people to log in and talk on it. This way those that wish to speak can and can do so with only those they want to. Everytime we have done an underdark call on skype we have 10 or more people all trying to talk and it just gets messy. Team speak allows for a hassle free organized way to chat on voice if people choose to. I do hope more people will come join us as it is just nice to chat.

I would even be willing to set up some of the DM's with admin abilites and private channels. Voice makes it so easy for discussions of RP and development. Hint hint.

I'd also like to mention, for those unfamiliar with Teamspeak, that it does have Skype-esque text messaging capabilities as well. So, you can be in a channel with a bunch of people talking, and just reply in text. You might not be noticed as easily, but it's an option.

Just figured this would be something to note for people who either lack a microphone, lack a good microphone, or are just shy.

And because I will probably be doing that because reasons.

EDIT: Nevermiiiind chat messages are disabled apparently.

Also I forgot how easy it is to totally forget you left Teamspeak on shizz that was awkward.

Sorry Syn I was playing Dark Souls and did not expect a "User Joined Your Channel" notification.

TeamSpeak server? I'm down for that. Though, it seems pretty dead right now.

Just as a so-it-is-said: please, please, please don't be relying on voice chat to supplement RP that should be happening in game, or when you are RPing. It's is highly noticeable in response times and general attention to the environment and what is being said when someone is chatting elsewhere - either in text or over voice. It can be very frustrating for those who are fully involved in the game and the scene to have to wait for the group who is discussing something else in voice - the same way when people are chatting about things in Party instead of RPing IC.

Also, it's not kosher to do PvP battle coordination outside of the game, such as over Voice. That needs to be done IC.

There, obligatory reminders given. That said, I'm glad for anything that helps build some community rapport so we can view each other more as other people rather than adversaries or the like, and just chat and be chill.

Yar, it should totally be a community thing. After all, doing anything outside of the game should be considered the same as party/ooc chat :D I mean, what's to stop people from doing RP out of game to totally prevent spying? I like to think we're all trustworthy enough to not do this :3

Yep! The only IC thing that should be done off the server itself is cybering.

No of course this is simply to just let people chat and communicate. Especially when grinding. Chat is just easier for establishing loot order and many other OOC things. This is merely just a offering to the community for people to congregate in the same place and be able to use voice instead of chat for whatever. NEVER for RP.

Well there were a few people down in the server B channel. Don't be afraid to come chat with people even if you may not be on the same server. The place is open to everyone. Feel free to jump in any channels at anytime just if people ask you to leave as they don't want distractions then please be kind to do so.

I'd still really like to see an IRC channel for absolutely everyone no matter what skype group/clique they're in!

We did have one, but so few people were actually on it that it died.

I think we used Rizon.

I don't own a headset, will the chat room give me the option to mute myself so my gaming noise doesn't flood in? Just wondering if I have to mute my computer's microphone myself. I'm techno-dumb

Ya you can mute your microphone separate from your sounds. Come on in and chat away :) Just be advised people may respond to you on voice.

Teamspeak does, in fact, have both a Mute Microphone button, and a Mute Teamspeak button, so you can turn off both yourself and everyone else, respectively. If you wish to.

Is neat.

Man, that link is so broken.

This one seems to work though, if you want it.
