When I start work next month I'll see about securing a day off as it's shift work.

Gah, this looks very interesting, just when I'd wanted to play a dwarven PC. (Though originally a gold dwarf, way too underplayed those wonderful snobs.) Never been in one of these campaigns before. Right now I got three active PCs though, so it depends on what happens to their responsibilities.
How long do you expect to keep the applications open?

So this kind of died due to lack of interest but those of you that did submit a premise/character, please resend (if you have it) or inform me that I previously approved your concept as this clan will be making landfall in Barak Runedar somewhere after the 12th of November.

I'm not interested anymore. Already invested another character in BR instead.
And I don't want to play a char for 3 sessions then archive as soon as this as done.

Is it still open or is it only for those who had previously sent in concepts?

Those of you interested; would you prefer the original concept or a new one? If its a new one, what kind?

I really liked the original concept but since most people who would be into it are already playing dwarves I guess there still isn't enough interest? Consider it my preference if there does happen to be enough people though.
So if it's a new one I'd still probably be up for it based on the time given (because apparently I hate sleeping), although I can't promise involvement if it's something icky like gnomes or kobolds! I have no idea what to suggest though since "illithid PCs" is not an option. No one else likes 'em anyway.

Deadline is the 16th for all you hardy souls who want to dive head first into a bloody dwarvern war!
I want to know your build intention, your allignment, and the general concept and how it fits in with the premise. I want to know your characters relationship to clan's leadership, and you also need to talk to one another and work out how your characters are related. You've travelled across half of Faerun to get here so you're characters should all know each other!

Can the first post be edited with a roll call for those who have said they would participate? Helps with coordination

Couldn't we combine the two premises into a grand Barak Runedar story, happening simultaneously and stuff? I don't know if that's already the plan.
I'll be shooting an idea your way within a night or two, Silent.

Well I'm a student who is up late night's studying or doing assignments. I'm also an insomniac. So I can work around most planned schedules. Hackums kind of seems to be a night owl to me too.

Quote: Second Premise!
The tribe’s history is almost as long as the dwarves, they came to the island following a schism with the Blue Bear tribe on the mainland. When the Blue Bear’s chief originally became a pawn of the evil in Hellgate Keep. Many abandoned the tribe and fled westward, determined to redeem their totem spirit in a new locale. At first, their survival didn’t seem certain on an island wrought with peril. Wars were fought with the orcs almost continuously and as resources became scarce they engaged in a seemingly endless war with the Dwarves of Barak Runedar.
Despite uncertain beginnings the Blue Bear’s managed to forge a home on the frozen wastes, and soon they adapted to the harsh conditions. Now they excel in the cold and seem untouched by the harsh climate. After centuries of battle they managed to contain the orcs within the snow forest and a tenuous treaty with the Frost Giants solidified their presence.
But history seemed set to repeat itself; the elders were taken under the influence, once more, by demonic cultists promising dominion over the isle. Gegrunk, the chief of the tribe, wasn’t so easily seduced by the promise and remembered the lessons history had taught the tribe. He refused the offers of rule, and cast the cultists from the camp. But the seeds of treachery had been planted in Gegrunk’s younger brother, who led a coup with the backing of the tribe’s mortal enemy, the snow orcs. The machinations of demons had once more cast the tribes future into shadow, half of them had been displaced and were now housed within the citadel of the dwarves. The other half had been seduced by evil and now a war that would change the face of the island was on the horizon.
Quick facts: The barbarian’s aren’t prone to accepting charity, and by taking up residence in the dwarvern hold Gegrunk had lost a lot of respect from his people. To offer a barbarian charity is a big social fau paux.
They respect their skalds to the extreme, seeing them as learned scholars tasked with teaching the tribe their history. Assaulting a skald or insulting his honour is tantamount to murder and usually results in a swift execution.
Druids are seen as councillors, as they have the connection with the tribe’s totem they divine it’s will by communing with it directly and the land itself.
Their hatred of orcs and half-orcs can be compared to the elves hatred of drow.
I'll give you all till next week to send me a premise, either for the dwarfies or these chaps. I prefer dwarves, though!

Haha. Apply for whichever you like. I'd like more than one dwarf ideally, though. So... theres a space for one more barbarian if the two I'm currently looking at are approved.

No more barbarians. If you're interested in a dwarf but not quite convinced punt me a PM so I can convince you how awesome it is to have a DM with a hand in developing your character.

There are plenty of ways to play a Dwarf. Not all Dwarves are the Typical Beligerant warrior, you can play many things and still be on type. They are a race of proud craftsmen, of Shrewd traders, of humble miners and stout warriors. That, and with many races and peoples, there are the minority which adventurers often fall into. I have seen Dwarven Druids, Dwarven skirmishers (One of which I play) and rogues and even a dwarf sailor in the past.
I wouldn't worry about pulling it off awkwardly, just dive in and have a go. I am sure you will find your niche in dwarven society.
