I like Amia. I like the concept, I like the rules, I like the lore, but I do not like the majority of the players. Why?
I stopped playing for a while because I kept running into people that just randomly start engaging people in pvp. No warning, no role-play, just all-out attacking. Sure, maybe they said, "Necromancers must die!" or something lame WHILE THEY ATTACKED, but this is not role-play... this is just stupid.
I gave the game another chance a while back... same thing happened, except no necromancers where involved. A group walked up BEHIND my exp group, and just started attacking. Their excuse was that we were "Buffing in front of them", which they said "in character", ... since when is buff a word used in role-play? Of course my group was buffing... we were exping! GEEZ!
Anyway, this post is a complaint that there are a ton of really really really really really bad role-players in Amia that keep the good ones out. Continue on this path, and you will no longer have good role-play... just a bunch of random people attacking each other for no good reason. Enjoy.

There's plenty of good roleplayers on Amia. If you run into people who break the rules, inform the DM's via private channels, instead of slandering the whole population. Also, you're not the one who gets to decide what's a " no good reason" for someone to be hostile towards your character. The rules of Amia clearly state that you can not void someone else's roleplay. If you run around with a wraith, expect to be attacked by goodie-two-shoes. The risk of calling undead beings to your aid is yours to make, but IC actions warrant IC consequences. The majority of players? Seriously? I'm finding it difficult to sympathize with someone who makes such statements, despite the claimed wrongdoings you've been subjected to.

I've only once seen "bad" PvP on this server (and that time a DM showed up fairly quickly and sorted things out). Every other time I've been in PvP there has either been plenty of time to run away, or I was actively picking a fight on one of my more hostile characters.

7 years, not a single "bad" or random PvP experience. I can't help but suspect people who face constant issues are doing something to provoke it. I may be wrong, but you'd think I had experienced it too if it's really that prevalent.

Well bad experiences usually result from someone having different expectations to what actually occurs.
I'm not going to go into my experiences here, but I've never gone looking for a fight, I've always had this 'I really don't want to do this' in my head. But there's a struggle to reconcile this with what my character would do. At any rate, say the wrong thing or do the wrong thing, and the other guys will assume that you're OOCly okay with the fight.
My point is, don't assume. Unless you're 99.95% sure, you can afford to let one fight go. And if you're the one being offered an out, don't say anything or do anything if you're not sure how the other guys will take it. If you don't like how things are going or you're uncomfortable with any roleplay, stop. That's not a cue to end all interactions with '//this makes me uncomfortable' by the way, but if you want a couple of minutes to calm your nerves and think it through, then ask for it.

Sphinx and WinterBlaze summed up my feelings.
You've had a few bad experiences, and honestly I'm sorry to hear that, but I personally take offense to the insinuation that the whole server is full of bad RPers. I've met tons in the years I have been here. PvP? Been in it five times: first was a good experience (even though I lost, horribly), second was a bunch BS but I let it blow over, third was another bout of BS but the DM Team cracked down on the offenders, fourth was actually my party almost getting into PvP (and chased out of our hunting area) but the DM on booted them back out (<3), and the last (and recent) was a good experience again (even though, again, I lost).
Regardless, if someone is breaking the rules you get some screenshots and tell a DM. I cannot stress this enough. It's worked in the few times I have had to do it, and the Team is really good about rule enforcing.
Again, I am really sorry to hear when these sort of things go on, but there is a proper way to handle these things.

I've seen bad rp. I've seen mediocre Rp. I've seen good RP. I'e seen fucking stellar RP. I find the 'good' outweighs the rest.
If you don't like the RP you find, start something new. YOU are a huge reagent to the RP reaction of Amia.

Don't air dirty laundry on the forums if you think someone has broken the rules inform a DM, if you think someone has broken the rules and you want to martyr yourself for attention go elsewhere - theres nothing I hate more than players that don't report rule breaking and then systematically diss the DMs for not being omnipotent.
PM me what happened and who was involved, and screenshots if you have them.
