Hello there Amians,

I've spent quite a bit of time lately popping in to ban a troll and more often than not I see a few people indulging in his antics. You might be thinking "I don't indulge in the trolling!" but you might, more than you think. You see, you might ignore them ICLY (as you should), but OOC might be different. You might say things such as "//GET A DM", or "//YOU F'ING FBAG." Or whatever, what you say to the troll is irrelevent, it is a response and that response is what brings him back time and time again. So heres my list of things to do if a troll joins.

1) Ignore all tells, IC interaction with the world, and OOC comments.
2) Contact a DM on MSN (my email is on my profile should you need it) or leave a message on the forum.
3) Leave the area or, alternatively, form a party with the players in said area and continue to roleplay there.

kind regards,

Marky Mark.

While I am just a player, I have to wholeheartedly endorse this. It should be common knowledge that you do not feed the trolls (for different reasons than not feeding the DMs, of course), and even OOC speak showing you notice their presence gives their sad souls a sense of fulfillment. When in doubt, pretend you're roleplaying a roleplayer that ignores IG trolls :D

For serious.

buhahahahahaha, wish we had a like button.

on a more serious note, I feel the need to point out, don't even reply and tell the troll your getting a DM. Theyre not going to say, oh shit a DM, and log! Its just the attention they want.

Surely commenting on this thread is feeding the trolls?

No, that's missing the point. That's interaction, which is exactly what we -don't- want to give him.

but I ever so enjoy smiting trolls and griefers, kill them, or stone gaze them then toss a invis on them so you dont have to see or hear them, or vampire gaze some monsters and set them free on him...no Troll can outlast Skeletor...
hell I remember when the griefers were doing the autoslay script crap in Wiltun so I kept one of them stonegazed for about 2 hours....good times, longest I ever used basilisk form.

Lol. But you know, keeping making threads is also feeding trolls (I hate that expression to be honest). He will likely have access to the forum, or?

So? He isn't disrupting IC on the forums. Corpy, whilst the thought is nice its counter-productive. Point is, don't interact in any way with the trolls.

What about normal players who go OOC when things don't go their way... or go to OOC insults? I will qoute a DM here to show that they won't do anything under these circumstances...

We're here to help you guys have fun.

So... If we have a none troll player who goes OOC to troll what should we do since the above statement says obviously that DMs wont jump in to help?

I'm not sure how you read that as the DMs not jumping in to help. As I read it, the DM's are not going to come rushing in and just ban people, they're going to take time to talk to all parties involved and see what's going on, and /then/ make a call. As they should.

Also that has nothing to do with trolling, it's called being a bad sport.

I'm disappointed (but not surprised) to see you don't know the difference.

Also, what dat Goddess said.
