Hi folks,

The main HD of the server started to break down a week ago. That obviously had to happen the day before I went on holidays, so the timing was perfect. I stopped the server on the 26th of July, and collected the machine from the hosting company on the 31th. The HD was too far gone to save the operating system's settings, so I had to do start from scratch after installing the new HD. That took a day, and then I had to wait a day until my agenda matched the one from the hosting dude.

In the meantime I updated the forum software, database engine, PHP, and whatever I didn't update since we started running this server in April 2010. I also removed those topics without posts that were left after the nasty hacker went through our forums a year ago.

Anyway, it's running again. I do have the feeling that the server is a bit slower, though. That's probably the database, and just affects the forums.

I'll bring the NWN servers up a bit later, need to check a few things first. And no, we didn't lose any characters or whatever.

Hope that satisfies any lust for information and sorry for the downtime.

I have had the most boring week of nights in years lol well considering I havent literaly been awake for 7 and a half years untill the past 6 months lol

Hey folks, there are some important Windows updates that I have to install today. Need to restart the server for that, which also gives me the opportunity to have a look at the database. We may be up and down a few times today. Isn't going to happen right now, but in 2-3 hours from posting.

The slow database (and thereby forum performance) is annoying the shit out of me. I think I'll see if I can fix that today. This may lead to some down/up/down/up/etc-time.

Looks like the new HD is a bloody slug... have to look further into that later.
