Has been watching for pointy hat wearing folks in town to ask, but no luck so far...

I'd imagine I would have heard mention of it...or maybe I could make an intel check?

I know of three different guilds, though the biggest one is rather defunct now though but can be found in of the major human cities, another is still being made, and the third is rather secretive where you have to be a certain type of mage and you need to make yourself seen and be approached. That is all I am saying!

Quick edit: I just remembered two more mages guilds though they are for niche characters! Plenty of them out there.

Instead of watching for hats, perhaps ask around for the brains under them?

Believe me, there are many arcane factions IC. Your PC just has to figure out where and when to ask about them.

IC'ly speaking, there isn't a formal Wizard's Guild in Cordor. The closest you get to that is the government's Ministry of Magic, which has actually been disbanded and officially under "house arrest". 13 Members of the Ministry are currently being tried for Treason, accused of engaging in acts of war with the Mystran Monolith of Ruathym, a "wizard's guild", if you will, that vanished from the face of Ruathym about a year ago. Supposedly the evidence in the closed trial supports the fact that they were responsible for it.

So the MoM is currently not accepting applications.

There may be other "wizard's guilds" out there for sure, though. Unfortunately, it sounds like your PC is an elf, so you'll have to settle for the lesser ones.
